I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I've been on Fosamax and then Boniva for probably close to 20 yrs. Two years ago I began to have an itch in my upper arms. I went off of it after having that and TMJ issues. My recent bone density test showed mostly red in color with dots of yellow (no green) so my Doctor put me back on Fosamax (generic brand). My 2nd pill was yesterday and I've had terrible heart burn, indigestion, burning throat and stomach issues. I went back to him thinking that he would just give me name brand. I had a small peptic ulcer that is healed up. He wants me to take Prolia injection and see if it will help the osteoporosis. I can't afford natural supplements, my insurance pays for all Rx. I do take calcium and a one a day vitamin. How many people taking Prolia have no side effects? The ones I'm reading here makes me nervous to take it. I asked him today if I was allergic to it, how they would get it out of my system. They'll watch me.... Thanks for any help!

The internet has all the side effects listed and trust me, you will get them. I just reported mine to the FDA to hopefully get this product off the market. I would much rather have broken bones than live with Prolia. At least the bones will heal but Prolia seems to last forever. It completely removes your immune system so it is definitely NOT a safe drug. There will be no second shot in my lifetime!! I will die first. I also called the FDA and requested all the info they have on Prolia. I live in Wyoming.

This morning one of my clients was describing an issue following a Prolia injection. I work in the pharmaceutical industry however do not work for a company that is in this disease state nor do I sell products in this category. I keep abreast of other products and disease states for my own personal information. I would not let a family member take any of these osteoporosis drugs and the longer lasting (higher half life of the drug) the worse the side effects. Anyone advised of taking these drugs should do their own research and if you believe 'everything' your doctor tells you, you really need to wise up. We are living in a different world today and unfortunately need to be your own advocate or have someone to do it for you. These drugs are major financial wins for a lot of people but whether you really need the drug is something you need to weigh the pros and cons.

I now have a walker to get around. I am also thinking I might need to get in a wheelchair soon. Also my urine is cloudy and sometimes has so much blood that I can visually see it. I have extreme pain in my left back, hip and knee. My right leg has lost its strength. All of this happened a few weeks after the prolia shot. With time will it work its way out of my system?

I don't know about any connections to my eye problems but: I now have 2 detached vitreous's and one of them has now stuck itself to the back of my retina, instead of dissolving on it's own. So now I need a VITRECTOMY !! They need to put 3 holes into eyeball, scrape the back of retina off, and then put a gas bubble on back of eye for a month. In the mean time, you need to lie face down for one month, until the bubble heals the back of retina. I never had any problems until I had one dose of PROLIA !!! BEWARE !!!

Pred causes osteoporosis! One should NEVER take Pred while on Prolia. That is one of the main reasons I have -2.5 osteoporosis. My Doc had me on 10-20 mg of Pred per day for a year. Now she gave me a shot of the poisonous Prolia to supposedly help mitigate the damage she did to me. Maybe we would be better off staying away from our MD's until someone actually comes up with something that works and doesn't do serious harm to us. AMGEN's nurses said all the bone that would be built up in 6 months would be reversed back to -2.5 osteoporosis without the Prolia. That equates to the fact that I'm horribly ill for zero benefit.

When you have blood in the urine, it is time to get to the ER yesterday!!! That's one that can easily lead to death. Why are you here writing about it??

I know that Prednisone eats bones. I have had to choose between extreme pain and stiffness and dime size blisters. The Prolia side effects had crippled me. I was either in bed or using a cane on good days. My life wasn't mine anymore. I can function most of the time when I take the steroid. I try to get more exercise and take massive amounts of calcium the D3. Until the Prolia wears off I'm stuck. I'll take whatever helps me get through this.

I am so sorry about what you are going through. Prolia will always be in your body but I've read from other posts that by 18 months you should be pretty clear of Prolia and get your immune system back and when you stop taking Prolia, the bone built up from Prolia goes away again so we are going through all of this for NOTHING. I know for certain I will never have another injection. We have cancer in our bodies all the time. With a healthy immune system it usually kills the invader cell. With Prolia our immune system is very weak and unable to fight off anything. That's why we get anything that's going around. I have found out that it is very helpful to contact the nurses at AMGEN, the corporation that makes Prolia. The more they hear from us, the more likely they are going to change or delete Prolia. The government really doesn't care. Just another bureaucratic agency but AMGEN does care so call them!! They have different phone numbers for different places in the world. Keep calling them with each and every new problem. Prolia is dangerous as it is made from animals, not chemicals. That's why it is called a 'biologic'. Have you used other drugs like calcitone salmon? Even Reclast and Boniva are better than Prolia as far as side effects go. Hoping you do better. Pood

I have been receiving shots for approx. 4 years. Other than getting cold/sore throats where I never did before. I have not experienced any serious side effects. I take calcium, vitamin D and magnesium regularly. My doctor has recommended 2000 units of vitamin D. I have also changed my diet slightly to help my body absorb the calcium. Coffee is kept to 2-3 cups per day and I try not to drink it with meals when I have calcium. I have switched to herbal teas. Bran and soft drinks are no longer part of my diet because they affect the absorption of the calcium.

Prolia should be taken off the market. Its a bad dangerous drug. Maybe a class action lawsuit would get their attention. Where is the FDA whe you need them ?

I had a single Prolia injection 2 years ago and am suffering since that day. This poison permanently destroyed my immune system. I have pain in bones, joints and muscles throughout the body that made my life miserable. I am so sorry for all other victims of Prolia.

PROLIA should be taken off the market b/c it has far too many side effects that many people are suffering from. but I am not one to chase down the big pharma companies to have it removed ! People are having eye problems (which I now have 2 detached vitreouses, and one of them has stuck onto the retina-needing a surgery to be scraped off ! . It did not detach correctly! Also many have mentioned long bone pain in their legs-I have when turning to walk. Never had any of these things before. As far as I am concerned IT IS A SHOT OF POISON, the human body can not handle !!! On the other hand RECLAST can cause leg bones to crumble into many pieces or bone/teeth bone death. BUT, I have had this cancer drug many times, and have not had a problem YET !! Of course we are given smaller doses than a cancer patient, but it is still a chemo drug ! So until I have any problems with RECLAST, I will take it foer osteoporosis. Either that or become a cripple. No man made substance is good for human bodies unless you have a good liver to filter meds and working kidneys too. In saying this my kidney function tests have elevated to a high normal range of 0.8 N to 1.8 high normal of creatinine clearance. So this may be the cause of RECLAST, I don't know yet ! Good Luck to all who need these meds to live life. KNOW THE MED YOU ARE GIVEN !!!

I just want to say Hallelujah for your GP who evidently has a brain!!!! Sure wish he'd spread the word to other doctors. Your Rheumatologist on the other hand shouldn't even be in business or have a license! That's just awful that he/she would tell you to ignore the listed side effects! I wish you well.

Calcium and vitamin D. I have added B12 on my own. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. My GP has been very apologetic for the pain I'm in. Oh yes, a small dose of Cymbalta as I have neuromuscular disease and neuopathy. Good luck to all. AGAIN, DON NOT TAKE IT!

Calcitonin-Salmon (generic) if you can still get it. Got my Mom totally well within 1 year. She could not even shut a door without a rib bone breaking. Didn't work well for me because I have normally congested nose problems so it could not get in and do what it needs to do. She stayed on it for about 10-20 years and had zero problems. Finally died of heart failure at age 96. Her bones were excellent. MDs like to say it doesn't work and I KNOW it does. Too simple and too easy to work in their minds. Use it for a year and have a bone scan or just notice your bones are no longer breaking.
