Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 14)

I've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?
Re: Sad Lady (# 199)
Numb and tingling is a side effect from Prolia. It's called 'neuropathy' if I have it spelled correctly. You would have to speak to your Dr. about which drug(s) counteract it to get relief. Others have reported it too. Amgen denies nothing. They believe and our Governments believe that the benefit outweigh the risks. I happen to very much disagree with that belief. Drs. swear an Oath 'to do no harm'. Look what they are doing to us. Is that 'do no harm'?

We just returned from a long flight from Hawaii. My feet and legs were so swollen I could barely walk. The pain was also awful. The swelling stayed for 5 days. One leg was very unstable and the pain in that leg lasted for 2 weeks. I always had some small swelling in the past few years, but nothing like this.
Re: Sunny1960 (# 206)
Yes, the first two months my wife had severe inflammation in the ankles, knees, neck, collarbone area. It's been 7 months now, and inflammation is finally gone. Still has not recovered her taste, or sense of smell. Still pain in back, legs, arms, and shoulders. Still has Capillary bleeding in the forearms.
Re: Poodle (# 203)
Yes i have. I could not tolerate the other meds. Has anyone dealt with feet, legs and ankles swelling along with all the hair loss and pain. Could it be due to the Prolia shot?
Yes I have experienced hair loss, had to get hair cut in a way to help cover my scalp.I am now using a black power to cover the thinning spots on my head wher the hair is so thin.
Black seed oil is good for all of this. You can order it on amazon and other websites.
Re: Sunny1960 (# 201)
Foot fractures are not all that bad. Stay off of the foot and wear a surgical sandal or a boot. Heal in 6 weeks. I got news for your Dr. and your back. It is a proven fact that the spine breaks when quitting Prolia. You are doomed one way or the other. Have you tried any of the other drugs like Reclast, Boniva and Evista? Prolia is supposed to be the drug of LAST choice when all the previous have failed. Be well~

Verification: Prolia Hair loss possibly due to Prolia shots.
How do i get in on the litigation against Prolia? My Dr. keeps telling me I need it. I'm so miserable I don't have a life anymore from dealing with all the severe pain. I can't have another bone density scan for a year-and-a-half because of my insurance, so I don't know if it even is working for me!!
How do your foot fractures feel? I am on 2nd dose of prolia my hair started falling out the pain is so bad unbearable most of the time.
I was going to skip the 2nd dose but my Dr. Says my bones are so bad i need it. I have numerous fractures in my back.I just listen to my Dr. When i told him i have lost half or more of my hair he said let's do a thyroid test. Test was good!!
I am on my second year getting Prolia injections. I always loose hair right after the injection but slows down after 4 months. I have to say so far I had no more fractures, so as long as it works for my bones I will keep using it.
Re: Poodle (# 197)
Thanks for your help. I now wear a wig as I have virtually nothing left. I am seeing the consultant next week and will find out, one way or the other, about regrowth. The side effects are so many and so nasty that people should be informed. At night my legs and feet are either numb or tingling so I cannot sleep. Nothing seems to help, and with the vertigo and ear problems, its a nightmare. I will post the result next week,.
Re: Sad Lady (# 196)
Question please. When you consulted with your Dermatologist, did s/he tell you that the hair follicles on your scalp are permanently closed? If not, there is help and it comes from an assortment of supplements if and I mean IF you can eat large meals. They have to be taken 3 times/day and I have found them to be quite difficult for my tummy. I have my hair short with handfuls of mousse to make it look a lot more than it is and then an additional product on top of that. I can get by to please 'my vain self' as Diana O. stated it. Please let me know because there is a Medical Paper by two MD's in the USA wherein Prolia caused A. Alopecia in a male when it was totally contrary to his genetics. Be well~
Re: myst (# 195)
No. Prolia and it's evil twin, Xgeva, only build up bone mass. They can leave a person who had the inj. able to get cancer by deleting many of our T-cells and T-cell helpers. This is exactly why so many of us get all kinds of infections while on Prolia. When our immune system is not functioning properly we can get everything going around, cancer and TB. I have been on this Forum for a long time now and we have only had two ladies with any type of cancer from Prolia. I know this does not solve the problem but it does answer your specific question. Be well~
Re: Poodle (# 179)
Hi. I have now lost nearly all of my hair through the Prolia injection, plus many other side effects, some quite distressing. I reported it to my doctor, chemist, FDA and submitted a report on the Yellow card mhra.gov.uk. If everyone who suffers from these problems reports it to these people something may be done about it to save others from suffering the same fate. Cost of specialist dermatologist, wigs, etc, now nearly £500. Amgem have a lot to answer for. It seems to happen to so many people that they cannot keep denying it.
Prolia has a legal suit going on for permanent hair loss, plus many other serious side effects. Is this med for breast cancer?
Re: Emmy (# 193)
I also have been having a problem with my skin. I call them barnicales all over my arms and legs. I thought it was from my type 2 diabetes. I stopped al shots. I was supposed to have one this past May and I called the office and told them no, because of the hair loss, the reaction was as if I said the weather was great, none! I will never have another.
After my second prolix shot I lost nearly all my hair. I had some loss while on fossamax also. I also have back pain and dry skin which is not normal for me and have developed hip pain in both hips. No more prolia for me.
Re: Faye (# 180)
I have only had two Prolia injections (with terrible side effects), but my DEXA scan was improved greatly. Still not sure if the good outweighs the bad, but I guess I will continue it as long as I can.
My wife nearly died of that crap drug....6 months now it's finally wearing off. We have her on 5K UI per day of Vitamin D and Calcium...She is starting to walk without the cane.
