I am currently breastfeeding and went to my local pharmacy for painkillers. They gave me Gen-payne and said its safe for breastfeeding. I have taken a number of times but am now worried looking at the ingredients. Is is really safe? My baby is 12 months and only breastfeeds at night in bed. ## In South Africa, Gen-Payne is reported to contain Codeine, Ibuprofen, and Paracetamol as active ingredients. As such, it is generally not recommended to take this medication while breastfeeding unless deemed safe by your doctor. This is mostly because of the Ibuprofen in it. Is Gen-Payne Capsule safe while breastfeeding? - Codeine Phosphate: Please discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. - Ibuprofen: No - Paracetamol: Please discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Does anyone know of any doctors in the Dayton, Ohio area that prescribe narcotics for Fibromyalgia? I have just moved to the area and have never had an issue finding a doctor for this, but now they tell you upfront that they dont prescribe narcotics for fibromyalgia. Help? Anybody? ## Hello, Sweetdeb! How are you doing? Sorry about the problems that you're having. What type of doctors have you been consulting and how have you been asking them about prescriptions? Due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, if you require medications on a long-term basis for pain management, you'll need to see a specialist. General practitioners are now severely limited in what they can prescribe, how much they can prescribe, how long they can prescribe it and why they can prescr...

I'm in the process of switching from Oxycontin to xtampza er (insurance company forcing me to change) and I have experienced some issues with effectiveness. I've taken Oxycontin for about 15+ years as well as fast acting oxycodone. Now that I am taking xtampza when I need to take the fast acting oxy I'm experiencing itching and stinging sensations as well as a mild cough as if I'm having an allergic reaction; in particular around my eyes and mouth. I take the xtampza with food but I don't know how much food and of what kind will work best. I have been on a roller coaster ride of poor pain control now for 6 weeks and I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar issues? I've gone from having a reduced life to little life at all. ## What dose were you taking of ...

Wanted to break ambien in half but accidentally did it to my oxycodone 30mg instead. Is it dangerous to take half of a standard dosage? ## It may release too much of the medication, at once, since OxyContin is a time released formulation. What I'd suggest in this case is just not taking that pill. How did you accidentally cut the wrong one? ## Is there a non-nacotic prescription medication that I can take in place of Oxycontin for severe/chronic low back pain. I have just taken myself off Oxycontin because I felt it was doing more harm than good. I was taking 30mg twice a day. I have not taken any Oxycontin since last Thursday 8/16/12 and I'm a great deal of paid, in withdrawals including insomnia, vomiting, anxiety, confusion and general overall mallaise. Please please please h...

I have a headache and want to take Advil (Ibuprofen) right now. Only thing is I am planning to take a Tylenol PM (Acetaminophen with Diphenhydramine) in about 2 hours to go to bed. Does anybody know if it is okay to take Acetaminophen a couple hours after taking Ibuprofen?? ## Yes, as long as your doctor approves, they can be combined, and it is sometimes recommended that a person do so, to treat certain types of pain, such as severe headaches, and arthritis. As a matter of fact, there is now a product available over the counter called Advil Dual Action, and it contains Ibuprofen, and Acetaminophen. However, as I said, you should first make sure it is safe for you to take them, and make sure you don't exceed the recommended safe dosing amounts. The FDA warns that Ibuprofen, and Acet...

Has anyone else noticed the taste change in Oramorph Oral 10mg/5ml? ## Yes, it tastes less sweet and stronger, it reminds me of alcohol (which I no longer drink, due to morphine) I am so scared I may accidentally take an overdose. I used to self harm and take various overdoses when younger, whilst drinking alcohol. Now I don't want to die, and panic I have taken too much. I now take 30mg MST every 12 hours and 30-40ml of Oramorph every 4 hours, when required. Sorry off topic a bit there, the flavour seems to linger in the mouth much longer too, unless you have some water or juice after to clear it. ## There are at least two flavours of oramorph, I've been using this product approx 5 years since I broke my back, my chemist switch between the two flavours on a regular basis, it is...

The soles of my feet experience burning sensations every 4hours regularly. I have tried several meds including gabepenton, oxycodone, Lyrica, hydrocodone. Only the oxycodone gives me relief but it has restrictions and makes it undesirable. Any advice or help? ## Does your doctor have any idea of why you're experiencing this issue? I have to admit that this would drive me crazy. LOL Do you have any diagnosed medical conditions? Have you tried consulting a neurologist, or allergist? Both nerve problems, and allergies can cause a burning sensation. It can also be a side effect of many medications. Other causes may include alcohol abuse, a vitamin deficiency, Lyme Disease, Sarcoidosis, and others. Do you drink frequently? Do you take any medications regularly? Ref: Mayo Clinic Burning F...

Does anyone know of Dr who prescribes MS Contin for pain in Louisiana? Close to Slidell, I just moved here from Tx, and have tried one dr and called numerous with no results. I've tried many alternatives with no luck either and info would be helpful! ## Unfortunately, you will not likely have any good results if you are calling doctors, and asking if they prescribe any controlled substance. The person answering the phone at their office has no way of knowing if the person that called is a legitimate patient with a need, or just a drug seeker, so they are usually instructed to just tell you that they don't prescribe them, and get you off the phone. The same happens with most pharmacies if you just call to ask them about filling a prescription for a controlled substance. The only ...

Before you begin taking Fentanyl patches (commonly called Duragesic Patches as well as a host of other manufacturers names) you need to be aware of the following Pro's and Con's. I speak about this with vast experience as I have taken these patches since they were introduced commercially in the U.S. and for a very long time, my dose level was 500 mcg's every 48 hours. Pro's 1. The patch is very effective at providing relief from serious chronic pain. 2. The distribution method or supply method of the patch is extremely consistent and predictable if you follow the instructions exactly as written. 3. The patch is a near perfect delivery system for avoiding the medicine effectiveness "falling off". Taken as prescribed, it is by far the most reliable, convenient and ...
