I have had major back surgery. I had 4 fusions. I have 12 3" screws in me. I'm still in chronic pain. What is a good slow release pain medication for the day and something at night when I get home? ## Hello, Josh! How are you? There are actually several available, such as Oxycontin, which contains a time released formulation of Oxycodone. MS Contin, which is a time released formulation of Morphine and the Duragesic patch that contains the narcotic Fentanyl. These are narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Those are all options that you may want to discuss with your doctor. What are you currently taking? ## Much thanks for your response and info. I'm on ...

My previous doctor is no longer practicing and I have been a CPP for more than 20 years. For the last 7, I was prescribed 2-80 mg Oxycontin ER twice a day and 30 mg oxycodone every 6 hours for breakthrough pain. I have not been able to find a doctor who accepts my insurance, most want cash and the visits are sky high-which I wouldn't mind if I was getting prescribed a long-acting and short-acting pain medicine. If anyone has any decent PM doctors please reply. ## Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been in PM for a while now taking oxymorphone er and oxycodone 30s. I'm from New Orleans but been living in Arizona while on PM. Moving back to Nola in a few months and I'm going to need a new PM Doc. Has anyone replied to your message with a good contact? If so, could ...

I tried one of my friend's 5 mg Oxycodone pills for pain. How long will that stay in my urine? I drink lots of water. ## Oxycodone can reportedly be detected in your urine for up to 3-4 days after your last dose. Although, I have heard of some patients getting it out of there urinary system in 2 days time for a drug test, by drinking plenty of water (as oxycodone is excreted through urine). I hope this info helps! ## I'm freaking out. I have been on the methodone program and because I have been clean from everything for so long I have my once a week privledges. I worked so hard to get them I don't want to lose them. I wasn't thinking and did something so stupid. I have been having great pain in my tooth so without thinking my friend gave me one oxycodone 5 mil. I have be...

I've had testicular pain for over 17 years. All doctors claim I have nothing! I am in constant pain that shoots in spasms towards my lower back that prevents me from correct posture. My right testicle has considerable shrinkage, two lumps the size of a pea that hurt excruciatingly to the touch. No meds help. All they do is upset my stomach. The only thing I've been told is chronic epididymitis and that I have some calcium build up, that's it! I need an actual diagnosis. The pain drains me and bothers me. Its crazy...My symptoms are constant, daily: dull pain and aches on the testis, lower back spasms that lock. On bad days the pain reaches all the way to my calve but the center of the pain is always by my right testicle. Help? I've taken all over the counter meds and ant...

I need help! My father was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer a few months back! They prescribed him hydrocodone 10/325mg! He now has begun to have some sort of mental status change because of the effects of the chemo on his body! He thinks he's suppose to be getting three hydrocodones at a time, and even with showing him the bottle and reassuring him he's not , he becomes very angry/agitated saying we are trying to kill him and that my step mom don't care and just wants money etc and that he's divorcing her! He's even called 911 saying she's abusing him etc! He's very confused and won't listen to any form of reasoning! Is their some kind of placebo pill that looks like his hydrocone that I could give him with the two he revives to make him think he...

One of my doctors was required by his insurance to test a lot & for marijuana as well as normal tests. This was required because he had a problem with a patient who died. My current doc doesn’t, but he thinks I need PM, since I need a higher dosage than he normally prescribes. Just don’t wanna go & have them find out I smoke & send that through to Medicare. I think it would be a problem.

I have chronic pain due to a accident in 2001, nd again in 2003. I have spinal stenosis, scoliosis, lower lumber sprain, nd redicolopothy! I 've been on 30mg of Oxycodon pop has reduced my dose to 90 pills. No I don't have any addiction I always take my meds as prescribed. But my doctor told me he had to cut my dosage down due to DEA. I went to a pain management Dr, who insulted me by telling me I need to take his personals injections, nd start doing physical therapy. Mind you my Orthopedic surgeon, has state that my condition is so bad the Injections nor physical therapy would help me. But this nut case. Insist that I'm another person of color on drugs. I live in Modesto California I would like to know what pharmacies will dispense the yellow norcos 10 325 can someone help me please the white ones are not working as well as the yellow ones and I know it's just a big ol lie where they say they're not making the yellow ones no more I know they are can someone help please ## No, it is not a lie, the manufacturer stopped making them due to the problems that some people were having with the dye, such as allergic reactions, being sensitive to it, and etc. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. What are the markings on the white ones you are taking? ## Thanks for your help but I finally found a place that h...

Hi. I took 20 5mg/500mg generic Vicodin's over the course of 48 hours. I started on a Tuesday evening and took my last 2 and half pills Thursday morning. I had a drug test the next Thursday morning so I had a full 6 days of no use. I am 33 years old, 5'7" and about 155lbs. I'm also in relatively good health; basically no health problems. Will that 6 days be enough time for it not to show up on a urine test? ## Technically it should be, the Hydrocodone in Vicodin is usually only detectable in a standard urine test for approximately 4 days, after last dosing. However, it can vary, depending on your overall health, activity levels, fluid intake and etc. So, there's really no way to be sure, until you get the test results. Learn more Vicodin details here. When will you h...

I was using heroin 2-3 times a day for a year. I quit heroin but continued to use pills. I recently could not get pills for about a week. I was extremely ill. So I said enough and went to a methadone clinic to quit everything. They said they would not treat me cause there was nothing in my blood or urine. I got some pills today and am going to clinic tomorrow. My question is how soon will they show up, and will 50 mg of hydrocodone and 20 mg of oxycodone be enough to "fail" the blood and urine tests to get in the program. ## The amount you're taking is more than enough if you have a urine test the following day. Hydrocodone alone can remain in your system for 1-6 days for a urine test; while Oxycodone can be present in urine for 2-4 days. A blood test however may only show O...

Does anyone know if this medication (Tramadol/Ultram) is a controlled substance? ## i live in the uk and have been on tramadol for about 6-7 years now and it is over here ## no, it is not a controled sub. it is non narcotic, genric for ultram. it intercepts neurotransmitter in your brain (serotonin) to control pain ## if tramadol is not a controlled substance why do they ask for ID at the pharmacy? ## I dont care what they say. Tramadol is an addictive narcotic. It's not as hard to kick as the others but a narcotic just the same. ## Iv been told Tramadol is a watered down version of stronger narcotics. In fact I feel like Iv been lied to. Im a recovering drug addict. I learned I had liver cancer in the ER. They gave me this and said it wont triger a relaps. Like hell it wont. Im eve...

Hello everyone! I had an MRI done in December of 2010 on my lower back and was treated with oxycontin 30mg and muscle relaxants from a clinic in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I did that for one month and the pain in my back was gone but I was afraid to get addicted so I stopped and have since been in progressively worse pain. Now for my question, I recently moved to the St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) area in Florida and am looking to find a doctor who will honor my MRI (3 years old) and also not give me a hard time for prescribing the right pills that ease my pain. I unfortunately lost all the documentation from the Pain Management clinic in Fort Lauderdale about my condition and the place has since been closed. Can someone recommend a clinic for me within my area? I would highly appreciate it. I am...

Okay so I get 30mg morphine ER all the time but I usually get the light purple ones or the new kind which has a moon on one side and they are light yellow but I haven't had these purple 30mg ER box Ms in a long time. The other ones I get seem to squish up like a pancake when I crush them due to the time release gel I'm assuming but I suspect these are fake because they are breaking up into a powder. Also morphine has a certain chlorine taste to it and these ones do not. Does anyone have experience with all of ER morphine generic brands? Do you know if the box ms are supposed to be how I'm describing? I just don't feel anything but I could just be tripping out. Also has anyone here gotten fake pain killers? How do you know they're fake? ## How did they look like? coul...

I take hydromorphone 4mg as needed but i wanted to know if it was safe taking two tablets? ## Hydromorphone, the active ingredient in Dilaudid is a very potent narcotic analgesic. That said, it is not advisable to increase your dosage without your doctor's approval. Doing so runs the risk of overdose and other serious side effects, such as organ damage. If your current dosage does not control your pain, you should speak to your doctor to explore your other options. Have you contacted them yet? ## Due to a near fatal accident I had in 2007, I have many chronic physical problems, some accident related and others such as severe arthritis, torn ligaments in both knees, disc problems bot sides of the back. The disc and knee problems are so painful that surgery is my option. I started out...

How can you tell if acetaminophen is a rx or just otc? Is the dosage a clue? ## Based on my own research I found that Acetaminophen (also known as Paracetamol) is an ingredient contained in many OTC and prescription medicines. For the most part, Acetaminophen would be found in typical OTC drugs such as, Benadryl, Tylenol, Theraflu, and many more medications along similar lines intended for normal colds, flu, and other minor to moderate pain. As for Acetaminophen in Rx, I found it to be similar dosages, but I believe the main difference is what drug they combined with Acetaminophen to give it a stronger effect. For example, I saw Acetaminophen used in conjunction with Oxycodone, Codeine, Hydrocodone, and other serious drugs intended to be for a more serious matter. But those are Rx of co...

A buddy was dispensed a bottle of 100 pills. Not thinking they were of any importance he put them away and forgot about them. While cleaning up I found the bottle and went online. These pills are white, oblong in shape, on one side it says TR then a score line then 50..... This would be Tramadol, right? The thing is the back of the pill is blank, no APO or Ultram. So are these pills 50mg Tramadol (bottle they came in buddy had ripped off the important info and left other info like Drs name). From what I can gather from reading this it does say Hydrochloride 50mg. I just cannot be sure as they lack any stamp/imprint of the back despite looking so much like the APO TR/50 Tramadol. I do have photos if anyone wants to see them, I appreciate any help in this matter. Thank you :D

I don't like the morphine. My opana worked wonderfully but of course now I can't take it because of those who are abusing it. My dr has been cracked down on about U/A's that come back positive for anything (mine was marijuana) and he won't refill my script until I pass the U/A next week. My question is, how can a dr just take you off a big drug and leave you to go through severe withdrawals? My worst symptom is the migraines. I've had one for 7 straight days and can't sleep or even eat. I have diarrhea all the time and don't feel good in general. ## You're not alone. I've been on methadone for many years and due to insurance issues my Dr has had to switch me to Embeda. I tried morphine by itself several years ago and I know I don't do well on it. ...
