Is this brand of Oxycontin 80 mg ER going to stay on the market as an Ethex generic form? ## There is currently no generic Oxycontin available and there will not be for the foreseeable future. They did away with the generic several years ago to help prevent abuse and diversion, so you can only get the name brand from Purdue Pharma and all of that is being switched to the new Oxycontin OP. There are generics available of the regular release and the immediate release formulations and Ethex does make those, but no generic of the time released. Do you have any other questions?

expired in 2003 ## Oxycodone does not get dangerous after its expiration, however, it can lose effectiveness and not work as well. Since it's been 7 years, I am betting that what you have is probably not going to work to treat pain after all this time. In many cases, when someone uses an expired medication, they end up taking more and more of it, to try to get the same level of effectiveness and this is not a safe practice. The smartest thing to do would be to safely dispose of the tablets. Do you have any questions?

I have PD with alot of broken bones. I have been taking Oxycontin for over 13 yrs. I am now taking Oxycontin CR 40 mg 4 X a day. I just had a refill and got the new type. With the old type I have had no problems. I started the new type this Thursday nite. I had a bad taste in my mouth shortly after I took it. On Friday I took my first dose with food still had bad taste and my vision got bured for about and hour or more. When I took my next dose I took it with water and the bad taste came and my eyes when bury again. I don't know what they changed but but something is right. Beige round pill (rather large) with WILSONS on one side & scored on other. Thanks. ## Was advised to provide more info, as no one posted reply. Obtained pills from India , supposed to be codeine 30 mg (no APAP), but they did go thru customs & gave me severe GI problems (i.e. stomachache akin to ulcer I had 30+ yrs ago). No detectable opiate effects. Please, anyone with any info would be greatly appreciated. I am a retired RN and also an addict with chronic pain issues (back & bilateral foot fx's).. I have been a pain pt for a long time non surgical and been through it all.I had to go off the new oxys even if they still worked pain wise they made me deathly ill,miagraines,severe stomache problems vomitting ect. I had no idea what direction to go in because i have been tried on kadien fen patch all those different things with no luck. for pain mngmt. My biggest problem is my Dr. likes small amts #'s when he prescribes. After two mths. trying to adapt and winding up in an er at VA when I went back to my DR. he treated me the worst he has ever treated me I have been there for years. Any way even that sick he wanted me to take them anyway, i was shocked. I took the va dr. advise he said go on straight morphine that it was the golden drug and that it hed been used for 100 yrs. or mo...
Experation dates on it ... 4/3/10... Is this medicine till good to use . ## It doesn't get dangerous after the expiration date, however, it will begin to lose effectiveness, so you may not get the same relief that the regular dose provided when it was a fresher product. What are you using it for?
