Updated

I have been on Ozempic now for 5 weeks. I started at the .25mg and after two weeks, upped it to the 0.5mg. I have never felt so dang good! I'm 53, post-meno, non-diabetic, 5'4", and SW was 264. My current weight, after just one month was down 19lbs! Now I'm down 21lbs! I'd love to finally be 165lbs or so again. I haven't been that small since I was about 11 years old.

Ozempic has saved me! I can't believe it. I actually look forward to the injection every week. I only had nausea for a little bit the day after I started. And since, then, it's been great! No diarrhea, no nausea, just boundless energy.

And not just that, but it's done something to my brain! I have this amazing sense of optimism, and positivity. I feel hopeful again! I feel like I AM going to finally lose this miserable weight.

I don't have much hunger. This stuff makes me NOT want junk food! It's a damn miracle, I tell you! I WANT to eat healthy stuff now. How did this happen?! LOL! I crave lettuce and raw broccoli, and carrots, and good steak. I hardly eat any breads or biscuits, haven't had any cookies or cake. I did have one small tiny little container of Blue Bunny vanilla ice cream. The kind in the little 1/4 cup containers that you buy. I think they come 10 to a pack? Five vanilla, five chocolate... And I'm also snacking on healthy nuts. Walnuts, pecans, pumpkin seeds and pistachios.

I am so happy!! Let the weight loss continue! The struggle before was real. And now, I feel euphoric and I just KNOW I'm finally going to be able to wear clothes out of the regular section of the store, not the damn plus sized 2X and 3X options!!

That is so wonderful! It's encouraging, inspiring and a delight to hear your story. I too am losing weight once again being on trulicity. I had to go up to the highest dose for it to be effective again but so far down 17 lb in a couple months. I have quite a weakness for chocolate and so a thing for chocolate ice cream. I switched to the low carb low sugar option in the same brand and it's really good. It's almost got into the point where the regular chocolate is too rich for me. It's been wonderful to see the way I snack or way way down. I just don't have those cravings and I get to have time to think about what I'm going to eat before I just grab something cuz I'm starving. Even if I'm hungry I can put it off for a little bit so it's now more like meals every 5 to 6 hours as it should be. Thanks for sharing your story. I wish you the very best! You're doing great!

GLP-1s can also treat things like:
-- drug resistant depression and anxiety.
--treat or even save peoples kidneys with CKD.
-- treat some types of lymphomas and leukemias.
-- Treat certain skin conditions

You may not agree with it being used as a weight loss drug. But probably would in the case where someones weight is significant enough to become or already is a significant health issue. Most people morbidly obese have a biological cause that can't be overcome by just diet and exercise.

cAMP is a secondary messenger that is involved in a multitude of functions of the body. These drugs work under the covers by accumulating it. Mounjaro is better than Ozempic, because it increases cAMP levels even better. Which is responsible for it's effects for diabetes and weight loss. As well as the other things I listed.

I know we associate it as a diabetes treatment. But really, that is just one of several things it can treat.

Does have a dark side though. Which drug companies are all too happy to hide. I predict a black box warning many many years down the road when the FDA gets their head out of their....
--Some people have the opposite cognitive response and it shuts down PFC signalling efficiency. Typically people would describe it as brain fog. someone dependent on Bi-Polar meds may end up hospitalized to renormalize neurotransmitter levels. While others were able to reduce their bi-polar meds and stop drugs for comorbid anxiety and depression altogether.
Me, dependent on ADHD meds, had the negative response and destroyed what Adderall hadn't already of my life with its side effects. Had to learn enough neurology to find guanfacine can fix that for at least some affected, like myself. But after damage was done trying to over come the issue on not lose my job via higher Adderall doses.
--Potent CYP3A4 inducer. Their misleading petri dish liver enzyme tests do not test the actual method that it induces 3A4 activity. Probably ok for most people. Not me with 5 medications metabolized by it and a vitamin A issue affected by it. Very difficult trying to get things balanced again with crap doctor ignoring the issue (long story).
--They love to scapegoat delayed gastric emptying for medication issues. Easily proven false when having all the peripheral side effects of Adderall and less than no therapeutic effect in the brain. And especially when combining guanfacine and mounjaro and that actually enhanced my ADHD meds therapeutic affect. Could not be true if delayed gastric emptying was more than it really is. Now, I pound meds with 20+ oz water and since water passes through stomach, takes meds with it. But have to keep bottom right of stomach where it empties the lowest point as meds sink. So, stay vertical, or lay on right side. Laying on left side and adderall gets ionized and performed poorly. And other mades may be spread out making their peak effects flattened and not strong enough.
--Some can have debilitating nausea. Certain forms of Dramamine products have been found to help.
--PDE inhibitors can potentially have synergistic effect with GLP-1s. Started Cialis (PDE-5 inhibitor) for Adderall side effects same day as Mounjaro so never realized it till I stopped Cialis and Mounjaro and other meds I take had a functional decline. And other things like eye sight affected. PDE5 is important in eye health, etc.

Told my doc, I think Mounjaro saved my kidneys, didn't believe me. 3 years later it is approved and a treatment for kidney disease. I take Jardiance also that is also a treatment now. But it was not working till I added GLP-1 support.

So, far more to these meds than people are made aware of, or in info made available to doctors even.
