I am trying to find a pain doc in Central, NJ. I am taking 40mg of oxycontin three x a day and 15mg oxycodone 4 x a day for breakthrough pain and my doc dropped me for running out early after hurricane sandy bc my meds ended up floating in the shark river inlet so i got methadone so i wouoldnt be sick from the er doc. They said this was a violation so they gave me one last script and said get out. \ Anyone got a doc that would help me with my current dose? Not some addict have legit problems! My doctor prescribed 20mg of oxycontin for my fibromyalgia. I am to take it twice a day, every 12 hours. I am only taking my morning dose b/c i don't feel pain at night...I'm sleeping and very seldom wake up. Is it okay to take it once daily instead of twice daily? ## It is, because in the long run it's really up to you and what works best for you. It's usually just prescribed to be taken twice daily because each one is designed to last 12 hours and most people start to feel pain again when it starts to wear off. On November 25, 2012 Canada finally approved the original OXYCONTIN for generic manufacturing and prescribing. ## There also in the process of approving the original formula in the United States as well! ## WHO is in the process of approving the original formula in the U.S.? will oxycontin and oxycodone show up the same on a drug test? ## Hi Shannon, Yes, they should show up as the same drug, since the only difference here is the time-release factor of oxycontin. I'd keep a note in the back of my mind though that there's always the possibility of one showing up as a false positive for another opiate, but I don't think it'll be an issue for you if its not one of the cheaper drug tests being used. My friend is in nursing home/ rehab center, can 80mg oxycottnin be unmarked from thier faciliyy? ## When you mention that the oxycontin is unmarked, do you mean the pill itself or the prescription bottle? If it's the bottle and not the pill, then I would question whether or not one of the caregivers removed the label. It's just unlawful/unethical to have prescription bottles lying around without any way to decipher what it may be, and it certainly wouldn't be sold this way at any legitimate US pharmacy.

Swim is prescribed 3 40ml oxy's a day but does not take them. They have a blogs test tomorrow. How long before the treat should they take one half of an 80ml in order for it to show up? Will the doc know they are not taking them regulary? ## Oxycodone is usually detectable between 2 and 7 hours after taking it. And yes, if they are checking your levels of it, rather than just checking for the presence of the opiate, then they will know that you aren't taking them as prescribed, because your levels will be too low. since they have changed the oxycontin, it DOES NOT WORK. ## There have been many complaints about it not working, as well as it causing unusual side effects. I am very sorry to read that you also had problems with this new formulation. I take three hydrocodone 10/325 at once. Would taking one 30 oxycontin be the the same? ## Taking one 30mg Oxycontin would not be the same as taking three 10/325mg Vicodin tablets. I say this for a number of good reasons: 1. Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone are completely different drugs than Oxycontin (different chemical structures mean different effects as well as side effects) 2. Oxycontin is an extended release version of Oxycodone; meaning that it's effects will last a lot longer than Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone in and of themselves. 3. The inactive ingredients are also going to be different in each medication; which means you may have a completely different reaction to one v.s. the other. 4. If not, due to the ongoing problems people are having with various clinics in Florida and getting prescriptions filled from them, the best suggestion I can make is to contact the social work department of your nearest hospital. i like snorting my oxy 30s but i cant seem to crush the brown op 30s ## They've actually been specially formulated to prevent people using them in this manner, since they are only intended to be swallowed. If you try to crush them to snort or to dissolve for injecting, they turn into a gummy substance that retains its time released properties. Learn more Oxycontin details here. Due to the proliferation of abuse and diversion, it is now only manufactured by Purdue. Even when the ones on the market listed as being from Ethex are made by Purdue via the same formulation, they are just a licensed distributor. There have been many complains about them not being as effective and causing odd side effects. I wish I had a solution for you, however, since you don't want to switch medications, the only thing I can suggest is that you let both Purdue and the FDA know of the problems you are having with it. I recently had bi-lateral knee replacement revisions. (These last two made 9 surgeries). I have a prescription for OC/30. I take one tablet every 8 hours. I take 10 mg oxycodone as my break through meds. I sent a family member to pick up my Oxycontin 30's. There was 21 pills. She never brought them to me. I don't know how many she took or sold, but she is in rehab now. I want to call my dr and tell him I don't have my meds, but what will happen? Do I have to turn her in, even though she is in rehab? The only active ingredient is time released form of oxycodone. You might be thinking of percocet which does contain acetaminophen aka Tylenol (355 or 500 mgs) with immediate release oxycodone.
