Methadone is the only meds that help my pain.I am in Ga and my choices are go 75 miles to a clinic and I have a young baby, so if anyone can help it would be great...also I have 2 insur. i recently took a urine test for a custody hearing and came up positive for oxycodone. i am taking 10mg methadone tablets 4x's a day for spinal issues. can the methadone come up positive for oxycodone in a drug test that probation officials give? i heard him say that he seen the methadone in my urine but i thought it had to be tested using a specific test. is it possible to get a false positive because of my methadone? ## Yes it will show up positive ## Methadone will show up on a drug test, but it WON'T show up as oxycodone. I've read a lot of posts where replies to the weight gain question are always answered with its because your healthier and can afford to eat well, your not missing meals etc etc.Opiates i.e Heroin stop the body from absorbing sugars therefor you lose weight on top of the fact you cant afford to eat well. Methadone however is altered by the enzymes in your Liver so that your body can process it or absorb it and for it to stay in your body for a good amount of hours its absorbed in the same way as fat. Unfortunately for you that means the fat doesn't get broken down in the same way as when your not taking Methadone. That's the best way I can put it in layman's terms. I am afraid that my test will show up positive for an opiate all I have in my system is methadone but I forgot to tell my probation officer will it show up positive for opiates or will the methadone I'm not show up ## Methadone and opiates come up as two different readings so if all u had is methadone that is all that will show ## Methadone will not show up on a 5 panel drug test. I've had muscle and nerve pain with intestinal spasms since my last (3rd) peritonitis in 93. This last one caused by a surgical mistake. Took 12 yrs to recover only to then be misdiagnosed and given a very high dose of radioactive iodine which has put me into a slow steady decline and no Dr can help the myriad problems caused by that poison. I since learned it is illegal in all of Europe and Japan and considered to be "barbaric, inhumane and outdated". I've been on 30 mg daily methadone for 8 yrs now. I took a 8mg tab of suboxone... a one time only thing, but may have to have a urine screen in 6 days. appr 140 hours. should I be able to pass? ## Dear dmm, u should b ok. Just drink LOTS of water. I have been on 16 mg of subutex for ten years, last Tuesday I had surgery and decided that I was going to try to come off the subutex, use the pain mess I was prescribed for the surgery and then be done with it all. I was prescribed perk 5 mg every four hours, and at the time of the surgery I had been off the subutex for 24 hours (I know that's not long enough) To my surprise taking the perk as prescribed held me over at least in the beginning. By Monday night I was in terrible withdraws (despite still taking the pain medication as I have been). By about 4am I took half of a 8mg sub (which was around 10 hours after the last perc I've taken) The 4 mg not only took me out of WD but it down right got me high. I was quite upset with my lapse but was determined to not let it be my down

I saw some round orange pills on my brother's dresser. He is a recovering addict and I'm scared he's using again. The pills are fairly small, round, an orange/peach color, there is an imprint of a D on one side and a 2 on the other. When one first goes on methadone or changes Dr's, what are they looking for in the blood test? Are they testing for heroin/opiates/methadone or all of them? Isn't that what the urine test is for? Just curious. Thank you. ## Usually your blood work is for health reasons because you're being proscribed medication..this is a very common blood panel given anytime you are prescribed narcotics... to test the heart, blood sugar and immune system... so that methadone does not cause a fatal interaction due to an underlying problem

My partner is a heroin addict for nearly 20 years after an unimaginable ordeal happened to her. She's been on Methadone, but stopped about 4/5 months ago and was taking heroin at the same time. She had her first dose of 8mg today. About 1 and a half hours ago now and she says she has had no effect. I'm praying it starts soon! She went 18 hours without H before taking this pill. She was in full withdrawal. My question is, she cannot get another dose till the earliest 9am tomorrow, that's about 19 hours from now. Assuming the sub works today, when will she feel like she needs more? Is it a gradual thing, or does she drop off the edge fast? I am currently taking suboxone but if i take a half of subutex will it show up when i go to my next doctor's appointment? ## The active narcotic in both Suboxone and Subutex is Buprenorphine, the only difference is that Suboxone also contains Naloxone, to prevent the use of other opiate while you're being treated with it. Thus, they will both be detected as the same thing. The only problem you may run into is if they check your levels of it, because then your levels may be off, if you've taken extra medication. I have a metal rod that has 5 of my vertebrae fused together so I experience pain but do not ewant a lot of the strong pain killers I get addicted to. Suboxone requires at least 48 hrs of detox before use and I have children and a job so I do not have 72 hrs to be out of commission. I'd like to start on subutex immediately. ## I am sorry, Nathan, but Subutex requires the same detox period. I've been taking 55mgs of methadone for the past 7 months. Then it got to where i couldn't pay and had transportation problems. They financially detoxed me down 10 mgs a day from last Wednesday to Friday which left me on 25mgs. I couldn't get back to the clinic to finish my financial detox which would have only taken 2 more days. A friend gave me 20 mgs each day up until yesterday around 3:00 pm was my last dose. My psychiatrist gives me Adderall and Xanax and has been for 2 years. I went to the Suboxone clinic and got Suboxone and I guess it came up in my drug panel at my psychiatrist and she will not prescribe me my meds. Now I'm going through serious withdrawals. I have been on methadone since 2001 for sickle cell anemia. I never knew or heard of it and had I, I would of ran the other way which others I know did. Ever since I've been on it, I have orgasms in my sleep. They are not wet dreams cause a lot of times, sex is not involved or thought of while this occurs, but I try not to sleep or spend the night elsewhere cause I know not when I may have one. Even in the hospital, some nurses or nurses put in my chart that I masturbate in the hospital which isn't true but I can't control it. I suffer from chronic pain and have been getting pain killers when ever I can. Usually 2, 3 pills a week. I tried some suboxone to see if it would work on my pain. I took about 6mgs. Is that safe as long as I don't drink alcohol or mix drugs. I feel like I just did some heroine. ## Suboxone contains Buprenoprhine, which is a narcotic and Naloxone, which neutralizes other narcotics, to prevent someone's abusing them while they are taking it.
