When one first goes on methadone or changes Dr's, what are they looking for in the blood test? Are they testing for heroin/opiates/methadone or all of them? Isn't that what the urine test is for? Just curious. Thank you.

Usually your blood work is for health reasons because you're being proscribed medication..this is a very common blood panel given anytime you are prescribed narcotics... to test the heart, blood sugar and immune system... so that methadone does not cause a fatal interaction due to an underlying problem
