I've been taking a high dose of Methadone for the last 5 years around 100 mg. My last dose was Sunday of Methadone, and I went to the hospital last night and they gave me 8 mg of Morphine. I now have my prescription for Subutex 8 mg tablets. So I have been in withdrawal from Methadone for 4 full days, and its been over 12 hours from taking the Morphine. Am I safe to take Subutex? I have been in serious, serious withdrawals, reason why I was in the hospital... It took 2 & 1/2 things of fluids to get me hydrated again, I was experiencing it all. Throwing Up, Diahrrea, hot/cold flashes, chills, runny nose, pale, couldn't hold anything down "NOT EVEN WATER", muscle spasms, crawling skin s***, all of it. I have a thoracic Syrinx's and severely ppinched general nerve that makes my left thigh feel like a second degree burn, as well as various herniation and bulges. Am moving to northern California and want to find a Dr who will prescribe methadone. I have been prescribed it before and had great success. Was on 240mg oxytocin's and still agonized. Last six months i have tried subtext 24 mg per/day and cymbal's. Dr said it would "heal my pain". Well the hopelessness is gone but am in worst pain ever. One of the ingredients in it is Naloxone, which can throw you into dangerous withdrawals, if taken while other drugs are still in your blood stream. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I'm Canadian. Not sure if this forum provides Canadian answers but here goes. I'm currently taking Suboxone for opiate abuse. I'm down to 8 mgs a day and was up to 16 at the highest dose. I started pain killers for a very real pain problem but quickly lost control of my prescribed dose and started buying additional pills. It became a huge problem and nearly cost me everything. It did cost me my vehicle and a lot of other material things. Don't care now. It also cost me my wife's trust. That I hate and am working on trying to get it back. I'm miserable though. Finally going for a visit with a psychiatrist in a couple of days. I've had a lot of trouble with concentration for the last 6-9 months and my Docs think ADD. How long does a person have to stay on suboxone? I heard a long time, sometimes. ## Hi bella, Some people stay on subs for years. They may taper down to just a few mgs but stay on for a long time. Some people will stay on a high dose for a long time. Some folks will just use it for a quick detox for maybe a week. Then some folks will use it for a half a year or so. Once some people get straight for awhile and are getting counceling and going to meetings or what ever they will have there Dr. taper dose down and eventually they jump off and can live a straight life. I don,t think theres any set time limit when it comes to subs.

I was on methadone for 5 years at about 100mg. Tapered all the way to 1mg & have been successfully clean for the last 5 weeks. The dropping down was worse than actually getting off, but i now suddenly feel like I am going through withdrawals..5 weeks later. Is this even possible or am I maybe just sick with something else? ## It is possible, it has happened to others with Methadone, that's why so many end up needing a lifetime maintenance dose and never totally get off of it. How are you feeling, now? Any improvement? Cravings?

TRYING TO FIND PHARMACY'S THAT WILL FILL METHADONE IN ORLANDO FLORIDA . MY DOCTOR SUGGESTED THAT I GO TO MOM AND POP PHARMACY'S BUT I CAN'T LOCATE ANY. I have been on fentanyl 75 for many years. It's not working anymore. I talked to my pain doc and we have decided to wean down the fentanyl to 25 and then start the butrans patch for pain. Has anyone done a switch from fentanyl to butrans and which do you feel works the best. Do u use anything for breakthrough pain. Does the patch last 7 days. Did you go through a lot of withdrawals. For the last 18 months I have seen a Pain Management Dr. in Pittsburgh Pa. I really like him. When I first started seeing him, I was on Methadone 30mg 3x a day. But had been on it for the last 6 yrs, so it really wasn't working all that great. In Sept. he put me on Opana 40mg 2 x a day. And it kind of helped. But when they changed its composition, it started to make me throw up. So, my Dr. put me on Morphine Sulfate 60mg 2 x a day. At first it caused severe vomiting.
