Due to back injury from a fall two years ago, I have two bulging discs Lower back as well as DDD. I'm 55 yrs old and have never been in this spot other than pain meds for surgeries short term. I also had gastric bypass 4.5 yrs ago.Started with Tylenol 3, then Percocet , then Targin 20/10 mg Oxycodo/Naplox 12 hr. Release, currently on Morphine sulphate 2 mg every 3-4 hrs. I have been ya ken off the Targin as 12 hr, release does not absorb in gastric bypass patients, hence why I'm still in incredible pain. I am a 38 year old man now who was diagnosed with Osteo Chonritis Dissicans in 1986 when I was 11 year old. From the age of 23 to present day I have had 17 knee operations 10 on my right 7 on the left. I was on 100 mg voltarol a day for 17 years until last year when I went into Acute Renal Failure twice as a result of the voltarol even though id been to my gp several times before going into renal failure telling him i was not feeling well and for him to change my meds. I am on probation and I get drug tested using my urine. Last Monday I tested positive for Ecstasy, morphine, and amphetamines on a UA even though I have not used any of those drugs. I do take prescription medications due to my neck being fused from C2-C6 in 2008 when I broke my neck in a car accident. My probation officer sent the urine to the lab and I am wondering if they will be able to sort out my medications, proving I didn't use drugs. And I am worried that if the Lab results come back positive as well then I am going to end up going to jail, in which case I would want to request a hair follicle test because I know I haven't used any drugs. I need to get off Morphine. I have been on 100 mg twice daily for about 2 years. I only have a few pills left and am trying to wean myself off, but it is so hard. Is there anything i can do to make the withdrawal less painful? ## Hi Kathy, I know you only have a few pills left so this may or may not be a feasible option for you, but usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them over a period of several weeks, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for weeks at a time until the body is no longer dependent upon them. I have had multiple back surgeries and have severe nerve damage and further disc issues in thoracic and neck. Been in PM for over 10 years and took many years to come up with combination that worked for me. He retired and sent to new doc who dropped me 3 months later after i expressed concern over being able to afford the treatment route of MRIs and surgeries.
