Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 111)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

Re: RV (# 2197) Expand Referenced Message

Ugh, it’s so hard to know what to do or if I’m overreacting due to medical anxiety. I think I’m going to go get it checked out and they’ll probably think I’m nuts. :( but it just keeps coming on and off and I can’t decipher if it’s my actual heart or not: not to mention the crap ton of PVCs I’m having daily just don’t help the situation at all. I’m so frustrated and I want to trust in what my dr is telling me but I know they don’t look at the recordings in the moment. So even though I sent them this mornings recordings of what I was feeling, who knows when they actually will read or look at them.

Re: RV (# 2200) Expand Referenced Message

Well I went ahead and came in to get checked. I thought better now in the late afternoon than a panic at 3am cuz I didn’t get checked out. I’m still having the pains on and off. It’s just so weird.

Ekg he said looks fine, blood pressure is 110/62 so now just waiting on blood work/labs. I swear if I could just move up my follow up with cardio, I think it would be better for everyone.

Hey how is your muscle pain now? What did the doctor say what was causing muscle pain?

Also guys there is an illness called Dysautonomia. Dysautonomia, also called autonomic dysfunction or autonomic neuropathy, is relatively common. Dysautonomia happens when the nerves in your ANS don’t communicate as they should. When your ANS doesn’t send messages or receive messages as it should or the message isn’t clear, you experience a variety of symptoms and medical conditions.

Re: RV (# 2207) Expand Referenced Message

All was good, labs perfect, BP 110/62 pretty much the whole time, and ekg was good. I don’t know what was causing it but I don’t think it’s the heart. He also said he didn’t think it was Cad at all. I think the medical anxiety is just creating havoc and I need to trust my cardio and know they are monitoring and I’m ok.

That BP message was barley approved from
Like three days ago ::: eye roll:: I wasn’t asking again LOL

How are you guys feeling today? I have heard of that and I hope it’s not that. I’m hoping just like julyia said, it’s withdrawal and time is the only thing that will fully heal it

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2208) Expand Referenced Message

ER said to me this 2 months ago when i went to him after a panic attack that if the chest pain is not related to heart then there are multiple reasons due to which chest pain can occur and its futile to pinpoint the exact cause. Haha you should read the pdf document once. i am doing fine just over the top anxiety and new disease of the day that i am trying to read about is lung cancer because of the weird breathing that we are going through. Hope you hving a good day weirdly i have a good day after seeing a doc after that its back to usual.

Re: RV (# 2209) Expand Referenced Message

Yeah, it could just be anxiety causing it. I’m now wondering if the soy aggravated my vagus nerve or if it gave me indigestion/acid or I’m just having acid reflux. I feel like today I have some and wondering if that’s causing the palpitations. I might try an acid reducer tonight.

You DONT have lung cancer. I think anxiety can cause all sorts of symptoms but yes, getting of the M means you won’t be dilated anymore and so it will feel like it’s harder to breathe but it’s not. You are fine!

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2210) Expand Referenced Message

Yes can totally understand because this breathing thing started 2-3 weeks after i first took metoprolol. But i hate this urge of taking a deep breath and its been 32 days off metoprolol and i crave normalcy

Re: RV (# 2211) Expand Referenced Message

Oh man, I’m almost 8 months off and still feel like I’m having issues :( hang in there, it does get way better the further away you get from it.

Man these PVCs really need to GO. I don’t understand how they just appeared out of nowhere. I am trying to ignore them but man they suck. I’m so ready to just feel normal and be normal. When is this ever going to end

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2212) Expand Referenced Message

How sure are you that they are PVC? Also a fun question how do many times do you check your heart rate in a day? I was just totalling i checked my heart rate atleast 30 times in a day over last one month!

Re: RV (# 2213) Expand Referenced Message

The nurse said the dr said isolated occasional PVCs, whatever that means. But what else can they be? I thought all ectopics were either PVCs or PAC.

I used to check a lot, lately I’ve been taking 384737373 ecgs but I’m trying to stop. I think it only feeds the medical anxiety.

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2214) Expand Referenced Message

Exactly external confirmations make it worse for us who have cardiac anxiety. Ectopics happened to you after you were stressed when your friend got diagnosed with covid right? Did the doc say that stress might have caused it?

Re: RV (# 2215) Expand Referenced Message

Yes that’s when they started but I had also started eating soy like 5 times a day so I really feel like once of them is the culprit. I also heard PVCs just don’t go away overnight even if you remove the soy/stress. But I’m
Hoping they will eventually.

I had an extensive hearing test today which was kind of fun. Never had that done before. Ent is super through and I had been having fluid in my ears this whole fall season. But the man was like you have amazing hearing.... safeguard it lol. That was nice to hear and it was also fun to see inside my ears.

How are you doing today?

Re: RV (# 2217) Expand Referenced Message

It’s prob anxiety? Or just random pains but I don’t think it’s heart related. How are you feeling overall today?

I’m feeling ok, ignoring the palpitations and I feel like I’m feeling a little less but I don’t think they are happening less if that makes sense. I’m just trying not to freak over them.

I just can’t wait for my dr appt. I want to be done with this.

How are you feeling today julyia?

Re: RV (# 2217) Expand Referenced Message

I am wondering if the soy gave me heart burn/indigestion. I’m not eating it at all anymore but the palps are still here. This is stressful
