Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 110)
Updatedi've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.
i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.
is this withdrawal? how long will it last?
i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.
Re: RV (# 2179)
On an average day mine sits right at the 100s or in the 90s. If it’s an off day, then it’s like 110 and sometimes higher. My resting last night sleeping was 67.
50s is a tad low walking around, I’d expect that more just laying around. Did you call cardio and ask why it’s dropped so much?
I really wish our systems would just heal and stop coming up with all these other symptoms. For me, I wonder if the two doses of channel blocker re jacked me up. I’m feeling some of those sensations but nowhere near as bad.
Like all of us, I just want to be back to feeling normal and I realize for me , that might not be until this ablation is done. But I’m hoping for complete healing and moving forward and forgetting this year of crazy.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2181)
Your resting heart rate refers to when you are awake but not engaged in any activity. So your resting heart rate would be when you are sitting on the couch relaxed watching tv. Your heart rate while asleep is simply reserved to as sleeping heart rate. Then you have your walking heart rate, which is your heart rate when engaging in activity like walking. So like my resting heart rate is like 76 to 86 on a normal day. My sleeping heart rate is 56 to 68. My walking heart rate is 91 to 121.
Re: Juliya (# 2182)
Ahhhh I see: well then my sleeping is around 67ish
Resting is mid 80s and up and walking is where it’s kinda random. Sometimes high 90s, right at 100, and then bad days like 110 and sometimes higher.
Julyia, are you having lots of PVCs or just sporadic?
How are you feeling today, RV
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2183)
It depends on the day. Sometimes they are only after I eat. Some days they are all day long. Sometimes they are mild, sometimes they are moderate.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2181)
So my resting heart rate is somewhere between 55-70 walking heart rate is 85-105 i havent tried to track my sleeping heart rate.
I know right normalcy is all we crave! How is your blood pressure readings?
Re: RC (# 2185)
RV* . How is your day going? Did u or juliya ever wake up in the middle of the night?
Re: Juliya (# 2184)
Is waking up in the middle of night for no reason also a symptom of withdrawal? I remember i was anxious before sleeping and woke up in an hour after sleeping tensed up and with a dry mouth
Re: RV (# 2186)
Day is going pretty good. Just trying not to focus on the PVCs and know I’m ok. I sent records manually to my dr this morning and didn’t get a call back so I just have to know it’s fine and move on and stop stressing over it.
The only time I wake up in the middle of the night is when I have an episode which I wake out of my sleep with a high heart rate and some adrenaline and sometimes a little sweaty. I’m assuming it’s my SVT. That doesn’t happen often at all ( knock on wood) that’s what sent me to the hospital in March and got this whole thing started.
My BP has always been fine. Average is about 116/75 give or take.
How are you feeling? Is your BP high?
Hope you’re feeling a little better today julyia
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2188)
So i just wanted to understand did the weird breathing stop for you or is it still ongoing? Like sometimes i feel the urge to take a deep breath every few minutes or sigh and sometimes i feel the breathing is so slow it scares me . what was the timeline for you when these things went away or are they recurring?
Re: RV (# 2186)
Yes, it’s withdrawal. My breathing thing comes and goes. I had an okay day yesterday. It wasn’t the best. But it wasn’t the worst day either. Symptoms were tolerable.
Re: Juliya (# 2190)
So this breathing thing was it exactly the same when you started metoprolol and continued after quitting it as well? When did it subside for you?
Does missed/skipped/flutter feel like a thump for second in your chest or neck?
Re: RV (# 2191)
It didn’t subside. I still get it. I’m still in withdrawal, my body is still trying to heal. It comes and goes. Same thing with the PVCs(skipped beats)They come and go.
Re: Juliya (# 2192)
What were your bp spikes ? I don’t know why my bp has spiked after a month its coming around 135-140 80-90 from last couple of days. Is it weird to have spikes after a month?
This constant urge to take a deep breath is the most bothering symptom for me i just want it to go away. I wish we all recover quickly.
Re: RV (# 2193)
My blood pressure was always in normal range. It would get high for me. But within normal range for normal people. So I never had to worry about the blood pressure spikes.
Re: Juliya (# 2194)
I feel like I’m having chest pressure/pain this morning and I can’t tell if it’s my heart or something else. At what point do I go to ER to get it checked. This crap is so stressful, I swear.
Re: Juliya (# 2194)
Ohh what was the normal range high number for you?
Also, as i was reading the other forum one user said “ and just like that cleared up a full year after coming off beta blockers for good.”
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2195)
Thats a million dollar question like chest pain a symptom of so many things so when should one throw in the towel and visit ER only to be mocked/not considered seriously by the doctors.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2195)
That’s your call mama. Only you know your body. If you feel it’s something that should be checked out then go. Worst case scenario they actually find something wrong. Best case scenario they just send you home.
Re: RV (# 2196)
That sounds hopeful! I want all this unknown misery to end
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2199)
If it makes you feel better remember the time when you weaned off from it and we thought we wont be able to make it but we have come a long way right?
