How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're having. Metanx is just classified by the FDA as a medical food which contains nutrients that support nerve health. Thus, it may help, but there's no way to know for sure until you try it. The only known side effect listed is nausea due to its potency. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for youre reply i want to try metanx but cant get a doctor to write a prescription
2 REPLIES UpdatedMy physician said that a highly respected researcher has found through a study, where, one group was given Metanx & the other a placebo. The study stated that those lucky enough to received the Metanx, the volume loss of brain was greatly reduced. Are there other studies being done to slow down the progressive nature of Alzheimer's or a possible prevention or treatment for this horrible disease. Thank you so much. ## Hello, BD! How are you? I've not found anything on that study. However yes, there is lots of research being done and many possible breakthroughs, including full memory restoration, if further testing validates the findings, but it will be several years before any of it becomes mainstream. As to the Metanx, since it is just a nutritional supplement as classified ...
1 REPLY UpdatedI got a prescription Metanx, it was capsules for it and they wanted $400 for 90 day supply 2x a day at Wegman's Rx, insurance won't pay as it is high tech vitamins so I asked about a manufacturer's coupon and they found L-methyl-B6-B12 in generic made by Virtus Pharmacy, they had to order it and it came in the following day by 3:00 p.m. think name was Folbic but not sure, that was $238 for 90 day supply 2x day. The pharmacist was shocked at the price of the "B vitamins". Just started today so will let you know how well it works in a couple months. ## Hi snowy, As someone who's tried several different vitamin products over the past 5 years, I never knew B-vitamins could be so expensive either Lol. $238 sounds a bit unfair, especially since Metanx doesn't appea...
6 REPLIES UpdatedMy neurologist was helping me with a minor stroke workup. As an afterthought, I said "I'm sure you can do nothing for my pedal neuropathy," and turned to leave his office. He replied, "Pedal neuropathy? I can help you with that." He gave me a telephone number, apparently the one to PamLab. They sent me a 90-day supply for $238. Having suffered the ol' numb foot, increasingly tweaked by pains, for the last 11 years, I figured I'd give it a try. Well, by golly, just three weeks into taking these two-a-day capsules, I have improved considerably, to the point where I can again walk about in my yard in bare feet. And I go sock-footedly about the house again. I'm just amazed my GP doesn't know about Metanx. ## Hello, Kitster! How are you? I'm very glad ...
1 REPLY Updatedplease tell if this is the same as metanx will it help and how much do it cost ## Hello, Grace! How are you? No, from what I'm seeing listed by the FDA, they are not the same. Folinic is a folic acid supplement, while Metanx contains more nutrients, including the B vitamins. I'm sorry, but I don't have a price to quote you, either. The best way to get prices would be by contacting your pharmacy. Since some of these supplements are potent, they cause nausea, in some people that take them. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Updatedhad pain and pins and needles from my hip to my ankles on the left side of my leg. Pain so bad couldn"t sleep.Pain mangement could not help. Neurologist finally said it neuropathy resulting in a drop foot. Drop foot not curable. Will need to wear splint.. Will Mentanx help me get a normal gait to my left foot? ## Hello, Annie Fanny! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. The FDA classifies Metanx as a medical food, it is contains a variety of nutrients, such as B vitamins, that are believed to help with nerve health and function. Since it is a supplement, the only reported side effect is nausea, in some people. As to whether or not it will help, there is really no way to say, the only thing you can do is try it and see. Has your doctor offere...
1 REPLY UpdatedDoes Metanx boost your energy level? ## Hello, Candy! How are you? It might, because it is classified by the FDA as being a medical food and it contains a variety of nutrients. For example, it contains B vitamins and they are known to boost energy, in some people that take them. Has this been prescribed for you? Since it is a supplement, the only listed side effect is nausea.
1 REPLY UpdatedI have been taking Metanx for about 6 months and it was working ok. I Recently lost my job and when I went to my Poditrist he told me of a new medicine that can save me a lot of money. So I decided to go to my pharmacist and get it. The name of the medicine is Folinic Plus. It cost me $16.00 for 30 tablets. What a savings! I also like the tablet form. I'm hoping it works. ## Hello, Sparky! How are you? Thank you for your very valuable post. Many people have had complaints about the price of Metanx. Folinic Plus is listed as being very similar, though not identical. It contains Vitamin B6, B9 and B12, it used as a supplement and sometimes to help support nerve health. Since it is potent, some people experience nausea, after taking it, according to the company website. Are there any q...
3 REPLIES UpdatedPrice for a 30 day supply of Metanx. Taking two per day at Walgreen's ## Hello, Jim! How are you? I'm sorry, but I don't have a price to quote you, there is no database that proves such information, it can also vary according to your location. Have you tried checking with the pharmacy? Does anyone else know the prices on this? ## I've been taking Pentazocine/Naloxone for about 4 mths now and the whole time my hands and feet have been blistering and peeling I talked to the doctor about it and he said it's just stress I went to a specialist and they said it was exama. They gave me a cream for it but I just keep blistering and peeling mainly on my palms of my hands I read some of the side effects and it said it may cause blistering of skin. Do you think it the medicine ...
3 REPLIES UpdatedCigna refuses to pay for Metanx because they said it was just a vitamin and can be bought over the counter? Is that true? ## I have called Pam Lab about their medication, Metanx. I received a reply from them. It is a prescription medication and can only be purchased with a prescripton from a doctor and bought at a Parmacy. It is considered a Medical Food. It is not a vitamin or dietary supplement. ## 'neuropathytreatmentgroup' also has a non-prescription version of all the vitamins in Metanx. I do not work for either company. ##
3 REPLIES UpdatedWhy the difference in price ? Which is better tablet or capsule?Do they both perform equally? ## Hi John, If you ask me, I think the difference in price is directly related to the cost it takes to produce tablets vs capsules. Please don't quote me on this, but from what I've read, tablets are reportedly much more cost effective to produce since they allow the manufacturer to pack the most material into however much space they need; whereas with capsules their space is limited. Also depending on the type of substance, drug companies may use expensive encapsulation techniques to keep the contents fresh and stable. Have you tried one or the other yet to see how you react?
1 REPLY UpdatedTaking it due to norophothy in my feet and legs sometime I can not walk because of pain from being a diabetic. ## Hello, Marjorie! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Metanx is considered a medical food, since it is just a supplement. Has it been helping you? How long have you been taking it?
1 REPLY UpdatedI've been taking Metanx for 6 days now; the pain in my feet has decreased but now I have tingling in both legs and at night I have some minor tingling in my torso and face. Does anyone know how long this type of side effect lasts? ## Hello, Niecy! How are you? Metanx is just considered a medical food, because it's a supplement that contains nutrients known to support nerve health. Thus, it doesn't actually alleviate pain or cause side effects, so to speak. The tingling may just be due to the nutrients improving the circulation in your body, but you should have it checked out, just in case. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedI am on SSI and I do have BCBS as backup but Metanx is still a very expensive co=pay. My arthritis doctor has me on 2 pills a day and it seems to help and it has helped my RBC count to be normal which had been low for years. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? There is a savings program that may help, you can find information on it at Metanx.com click here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## You should have Medicaid as secondary insurance. Since you have the BCBS, I'm not sure if Medicaid will be of help with the this in your state, but it won't hurt to ask.
2 REPLIES UpdatedI tried Metanx (cost me a $160.00 copay) and could not use it after 5 days. I did not sleep for 5 days even with a sleeping pill. Also had severe calf cramps in bed and also the pain I had was doubled. I don't know how this medicine was approved for diabetic neuropathy!!! Now I am out all this money and still have severe diabetic nueropathy. ## Hello, Trix! How are you? There really aren't any side effects, so to speak, from Metanx, it is just a supplement that contains nutrients that can help treat or prevent diabetic neuropathy, it's not an actual drug, at all. It's actually classified as a medical food. The insomnia makes some sense, because adding the nutrients to your body could cause you to be more energized than usual. However, the cramping and pain does not. Have...
1 REPLY UpdatedIrecently had an EEG & EMG because my legs jump & twitch uncontrollably on their own! The Dr seems to think I have this meralgia paresthetica? I'm not so sure, since this is caused by nerve damage & I've had this problem since I was in my 20's, but it is getting to happen longer & more often as I've gotten older. He has also given me a prescription for a med called Metanx. Does anyone know anything about this too? ## I have the same problem-Restless Leg, Metanx helps during the day but I take Requip to sleep. It is a horrible condition
1 REPLY UpdatedI would like to comment on Metanex... for me it was a miracle drug.... I have type II diabetes and had "drop foot" .. and had to buy a brace for my right foot because when I walked I "slapped" down my right foot.... a Dr. recommended Metanx and after 1 week of taking the drug, I haven't had to use the brace once.... my only problem is that a generic is no longer available and the Metanx costs $90.00 for a 30 day supply... I can't afford to take it at that cost... how can I get a discount? ## Hi Mildred, I work with Metanx and am very pleased to read how well you are doing on Metanx and I have some good news for you, If you are interested on how to save on your Metanx prescription, contact Brand Direct Health at 1-866-331-6440. 6 REPLIES UpdatedI started taking Metanx in Feb '12 and had almost instant relieve of the foot pain that would keep me up at night. I continued to take it through September '12, when I suspected that the visual disturbances and almost "stroke like" experiences I was having might be related. These symptoms ceased immediately when I discontinued use. Prior to taking metanx my B12 blood level was within the normal range, at 457 (top of range 911). However, in September '12 after taking Metanx I tested at >2000! FURTHERMORE - In July '12 I started testing NEGATIVE for my hydrocodone prescription in routine Pain Management drug screens. After much trouble (and almost getting kicked out of the clinic for suspected "drug dealing", I found a pathologist that suggested the B12...

4 REPLIES UpdatedI am willing to try anything that might help with the feet & leg pain, my arms & hand pain I am having. Also in my joints. Feels like my nerves, tendons, muscles, are like a rubber band, and being twisted at both ends, until so tight they could pop at any time. The pain gets so bad when I am asleep it wakes me up screaming, running, kicking, then can't find anything then to take for the pain, to relieve just enough to allow me to go back to sleep. But, it wouldn't allow me any relief enough to get back to sleep. I would like to join the Research Team, to see if Metanx will help me. ## Hello, Polly! Sorry about the pain that you're in. However, this website does not manufacture any prescription products, nor is it affiliated with any manufacturer, it is an information ...
