Can You Buy Metanx Over The Counter Without A Prescription

Cigna refuses to pay for Metanx because they said it was just a vitamin and can be bought over the counter? Is that true?

I have called Pam Lab about their medication, Metanx.
I received a reply from them. It is a prescription medication and can only be purchased with a prescripton from a doctor and bought at a Parmacy. It is considered a Medical Food. It is not a vitamin or dietary supplement.

'neuropathytreatmentgroup' also has a non-prescription version of all the vitamins in Metanx.
