Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 40)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Holy Cow.....me exactly! Sometimes I'll be talking and I can't remember simple little words like "lamp" or "fireplace". It's absolutely CRAZY. I'll stop in the middle of a sentence, not being able to state a simple thought. It was never like this before Lyrica. I was a university instructor before taking Lyrica. Now I have difficulty getting even simple thoughts across.

Is there anyone out there whohas been on lyrica and feel overwhelmed by everything to thhe point of a nervous breakdown and feel like attacking everyone, people, cats dogs, you name it. 3 months ago I went back to school to learn a new skill. Now I am exploding @ almost anyone except strangers. No one seems to understand I cannot be everything and everyone @ one time, a wife, mother, and student. The hospital that got rid of me in 2007 was in the news lately. They just eliminated 250 clrical jobs. Their excuse was the cost of medicare. That's Bull.... they don't care. That's an excuse for them to get rid of old people and hire young people @ a cheaper rate. I know I must sound crazy, but if I do it was lyrica. My memory is getting worse and I have been off it @ least 6 years. Can I claim temporary insanity. I can't remember a lot of things after 5 minutes. And alzeimers does not run in my memory. I used to be able to multi-task, now, forget it. I' not suicidal but I am close to going postal.. if you out there don't care I understand, lyrica did a number on you too. I just wish we could find someone. The things that made me happy, don't anymore. Good luck to you all.

To all of you, including Scarlet, I too have experienced memory lapses. As I said in my earlier post, initially I attributed my memory loss, my inability to think of the words that, when seconds before, I knew exactly WHAT & HOW I wanted to say it, recall a name or historical fact I knew like the back of my hand, etc on crs (can't remember s#@t, which is a family joke) but now I know otherwise, or at least that it isn't necessarily the major culprit! My heart aches for all of us who now have to "live" with it. Surely, one of us suffering from the side effects of Lyrica will be able to find a lawyer willing to start a class action suit! Of course, the legal team will come out all the richer for it, while we are stuck with so many problems.

Mary, I understand & empathize with you. I firmly believe, as you, that Lyrica is the root cause of your anger. Initially Lyrica was designed as an anti-seizure med--a mind altering drug--and like so many of these "head" controlling drugs, they alter one's behavior. The best thing to do before filling ANY prescription, do your research on sites like this. One medication a now ex pain management "doctor" of mine prescribed a different muscle relaxer med...wouldn't prescribe the one I'd been taking for more than 6 yrs & NEVER had in problems with...that almost killed me (zanaflex). I'd taken one pill & when my husband got home from work, he wanted to take me to the emergency room. I refused to go, because I didn't care one way or another if I died! When he did some extensive research online on that drug, what I experienced fell in line with what many others who'd taken that same drug...many lived but some weren't so lucky. I wouldn't go so far as you suggested (back to the Lyrica memory lapses) doing, as it could very well expose you to many more problems. When stressed beyond endurance, try to step back & go somewhere or do something that you know relaxes you...your children & other responsibilities will have to be put on hold for your own good.

Hi Mary , you have described many aspects of what my son is experiencing except for the fact he loves his cat and could never have any ill feeling towards it, .his memory is still bad even though it used to be brilliantly razor sharp just 3 years ago before he took Lyrica and he is only 19 years of age . It sounds like Lyrica may have triggered an anxiety disorder with you as it did with my son , the treatment for it is very difficult as the anxiety is not of a genetic nature but of drug damage specific to the Lyrica , . my son is now on Lexapro 20mg per day as well as an array of minerals , vitamins and a naturopathic treatment , all of which have only given him slight relief from his symptoms .I believe once Lyrica has damaged the brain that the damage is fairly severe and irreversible .

Thank you, Nick. I have 3 cats now. At one time I had as many as 6. I took in strays when I could. Two died of old age and one, which was only2 years old of kidney failure. Matbe I need to see a psychiatrist. I'm been on 10 mg valium 3x a day. Iit used to help me before I was on lyrica, now I just can't seem to control myself. I'm even sceaming @ my cats, which I love dearly. The onees that died, I kept their ashes in the little box they gave you. I sealed well in plastic and buried them all together, then put a cement slab on the arra with a egyption statue on top as a memorial @ our old house. When I moved I took them with me. I feel bad yelling @ them. It's not teir fault, it' is the lyrica.. Again, thank you. :'(

Hi Mary , the Egyptian statue is really appropriate as the ancient Egyptians used to worship cats as Gods , i have a feeling cats have not forgotten this fact .. but back to the Lyrica , i just hope that the damage to memory is not a precursor of early onset of brain degeneration caused by the Lyrica . time will tell.

Lisa F - I also had a nerve study done while on lyrica and had damage in hands and arms. And couldn't get words out of my mouth but the worse might have been the sleep paralysis which I now know is from the combo of lyrica and elavil which you are not suppose to combine and which I was on for years together. If I sat still or fell asleep I couldn't move or speak without someone moving me first problem was I couldn't tell anyone I was frozen because I couldn't move or speak. I finally got a dog who stayed with me because I couldn't be alone and he would move my arm to get me moving so I didn't have to be babysat all day. I would think I would be able to sue just because of the mixing of the two drugs that aren't suppose to be mixed.

I ran into someone at the doctors office yesterday who was prescribed lyrica the week before for gout and he was told she would start him off with a low dose and gradually raise it higher and higher. He was not told of any of the possible side effects at all. And when the nurse was checking me in she asked if I had any allergies other than to lyrica and when I said that it wasn't an allergy to lyrica she got extremely defensive and began arguing with me. How can they get away with calling the side effects allergies I just don't understand. Since when is lyrica used for gout I haven't seen it advertised for that yet.

No doctor knows, & probably really doesn't care, 1/2 of the side affects of any drug they prescribe. The pharma's reps go in & says "here's a new med that helps with whatever health issue & the doctors go from there. Sometimes I've serious wondered if the doctor receives a kickback. I know I told that ex-pain management doc (and other doctors) about the side affects of Lyrica...yes, they ALL simply put it down as "an allergic reaction"...but he, like many other doctors continue to prescribe Notice, even pharmacies ONLY gives you the standard, least informative descriptions of possible side affects when they fill your script! They ALL simply go by what the pharma's tell them...which we guinea pigs, have to "live" with the results!

On 4/4/13, blog 760, I said that they are prescrbing lyrica for every chronic pain but gout. Now I heard inblog 792, I thinkthat was the number or one of the ones near it, someone was prescribed in a low dose to start and then slowly increase it. I was right. Lyrica is the new miracle "pain killer". A few years ago they took darvocet off the market because of its side effects. I challenge all of you. Look up the side effects of darvocet and lyrica. Study them and compare the side effects of both and tell all of us which was the most dangerous and damaging drug. Darvocet or lyrica. I was on darvocetN100 since 1993 until they took it off the market. Some Dr. put them on tylenol 3, others were put on vicodin. So we have a lot of senior people running around who are codeine addicts. Some may have been given lyrica for their chronic pain. So step up people, my snake oil (lyrica) will cure all pain that ails you, even gout.:-D. My laughing is not a joke, it's satire or sadness. God help all of us and those out in the cold who don't know what lyrica does to your brain. We'll just be a bunch of brainless people stumbling in the dark.

Please see my post #791 about a LAW FIRM that may take the case against LYRICA. I posted it yesterday but I think it may have been missed.

I have written to Rot Law 3 different times the first time 2 years ago and the last time 2months ago. I have not heard back from them yet. If you have that is great maybe they changed there mind but they told me there was no case.
The person in the doctor's office waiting room said gout. I couldn't believe it I warned him I hope he listens because he was only on it for a week and had not started having any side effects yet. I was amazed when I heard he was taking it for gout it just doesn't make sense at all.

I started taking Lyrica to try to get off of Neurontin. I'm taking it for unexplained nerve pain in my leg. I'm taking 150 mgs. twice a day and it's doing nothing. I forgot to take it one night and woke at 3 in the morning with severe nausea that lasted for hours. I spoke to a friend who said she had the same withdraw symptoms trying to get off of Lyrica. Her doctor told her to get on another anti depressant, like Prozac, just until she was off of the Lyrica. This worked for her. I haven't found any one else who mentioned this technique so I just wanted to put it out there. It's what I'm going to try. I really want off of this med, especially after reading all these posts.

After taking Lyrica for @ 3 months, I simply stopped taking it. I guess I was lucky in the withdrawal affects, because I had none. That may have been because, at the time, I was still taking & wasting my $$$ on Celexa (an "antidepressant"/anti-seizure drug which was purported to "help lessen my chronic pain" due to degenerative disc disease, spinal stynosis, myofascial pain syndrome/fibromyalgia, cervical fusion of C5-C7 if I remember correctly & a lumbar fusion to fix a broken facet at L 3 & 4 (my surgeons ignored the bulging disk at L5 & S1, & thoracic degeneration, etc. I ceased taking Celexa after a # of yrs since it did nothing to alleviate any of the pain I "lived" with for over 25 yrs. Although I have many problems taking medications--my body , I never had any problem with Celexa during the 6 or 7 yrs I took it & weaned myself off it in 2 months. I've found that none of these "antidepressants or anti-convulsive " meds do a single thing to alleviate even a smidgeon of my pain.

I called them too. I finally got a call back, they were not interested. I just wanted to let you know. There seems to be no lawyer out there who will do anything about lyrica. Ii was told to contact the FDAand fill out a form. Big whoop.

Unless the FDA receives the "Adverse Event" reports it won't even look at what we write here. I worked for a pharmaceutical company and I am familiar with the way it works. Since the law firm said that, what they mean is that the FDA hasn't been alerted to the many complaints about the drug yet. Everyone needs to report their issue with LYRICA to the FDA. Just go to the FDA web site and file an ADVERSE EVENT REPORT.

You should be able to gradually wean off of lyrica but it is addictive that's why they don't recommend it to anyone who has a history of being an addict. I emailed a law firm yesterday and got a call back from someone today who took more information and said the lawyer would call me back. We will see I guess but they say they specialize in pharmaceutical companies and it wasn't rot law this time. I got no where from them.
