Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 15) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Hello Maylynn,
Your perspective on after effects is right on, and I too didn't look at it that way. Sooner or later I believe a person will be so scared they will get themselves off this drug. You are quite right - its about the after effects. It scares me; I have an eight year old daughter. The audiologist could not believe my level of hearing loss, he asked if I had a head trauma because it just shouldn't be so for someone my age. When I was taking Lyrica I knew immediately that it was this drug that was causing my problems with eyesight and hearing loss. After being off of it my eyesight has improved somewhat, but not my hearing. What has my doctor concerned is: could this be progressive - meaning exactly what you said: speeding up the aging process. We've heard statements made of 'dumb-down' drugs, in order to control society. Makes me wonder if we will end up with a bunch of geriatrics long, long before their time. Talk about genocide.
Has anyone looked into contacting W5 or 60 Minutes to get the message out there. I believe there will be alot of people on the drug who haven't yet put 2 and 2 together.
Lets give Phizer some free publicity, and do our part to protect the public.
Maylynn, please don't isolate yourself, this is not your fault. I did it too, because I just wasn't the same person as before; but the more open I am about it, the more understanding people are, and the message gets out there. I strongly believe we will get somewhere with this because it is total insanity the protection these drug companies have been given. If our law makers don't listen to us, then they must be replaced. Lets make this an election topic in every country.
Have your best day possible.

Judy and Dianne,
Along with the things I mentioned, my eyesight seems to be getting worse, I now have issues with anxiety, bouts for no reason, I was gaining 10 lbs weekly while on the drug. I have talked to several people who have had the SAME EXACT OUTCOME as I have. A friend of mine who works for a Law firm, and this law firm had dealt with bad drug lawsuits before, may get involved. You are right, we need to make the public aware. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I had a beautiful golden mane of hair a year ago, I can now see my scalp. We need to be careful about this, to not have a suit slapped on us for misrepresentation, and any other Pfitzer can think of. I just wish they would take it off the market.
I would like to tell anyone who is currently taking this to ween off this NOW!! If you are reading these posts and are contemplating taking this drug, or any others like it, DONT! I wish I would have rather, at the time, of beginning this, put it in my mind to just deal with the nerve pain.

I am so sorry to hear that Nick. I too, never suffered from these things until taking this drug. I have been checking into high dose fish oil (Nutrigold's Omega 3 Fish Oil), I am thinking this may help with some of the after effects, or ease some of the discomfort. I would like to find out if the damage is done during therapy with this drug, or if it is stored somewhere in the body after therapy is discontinued. Also, another thing you folks may want to check out, is the drug, Neurotin (Gabapentin), isn't any better than Lyrica. Check out the after effects as well as the side effects. And to my horror, some of the people here were taking BOTH!!! AT THE SAME TIME!!!

WOW, Malynn... I took Lyrica in 2009 after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I can't remember how long I took it, just for a few months I think.... but I had my doctor take me off it because I started gaining weight and I was having heart palpitations. Later that year I started suffering from debilitating fatigue and then started falling asleep at my desk, having all sorts of memory issues, then one day I got up from my desk and started bumping into walls, couldn't finish my sentences, had to back up and start my sentences over and over again, couldn't remember peoples' last names.... I started having numbness and tingling in my crotch, lips, fingers, toes - this was mainly on the left side of my body but now has spread up my arm and sometimes down the entire side of my body. Now I have been having drop attacks for the past two years, and the tingling in my face, which feels like I am being electrocuted, has spread from not just my lips but underneath my eyes all the way down to my jawbone. This is crazy. A friend of mine heard a medical researcher speak at a conference recently and she said supposedly Lyrica turns to cyanide in your body - and the effects of cyanide are neurologic. I have been extremely worried ever since hearing this. I am on my third neurologist now since 2010. The Cleveland Clinic told me in September that I am having focal point seizures. My new neuro said she doesn't think my symptoms "fit the bill". Nobody can really give me an explanation of anything. I had a seizure with convulsions in May followed by 12 drop attacks in the next week and a half, and this was preceded by extreme fatigue and episodes of falling asleep at my desk again (which of course they are trying to tell me is narcolepsy - which I honestly don't believe I have), and the onset of the arm/leg/foot numbness and face electrical sensations, which had gone away for a time period. Very strange. Sounds a lot like what you are experiencing. I thought I was crazy.

I had perfect vision, now its CRAP cant see, Gained 60 + pounds which has caused all kind of health issues, caused me to have Mini seizures, loss of memory. Just to name a few. I want to know is there a Lawyer to represent people with similiar problems. All i have found is for people who have attempted suicide.

Thanks Marlynn ,i am at the point nothing surprises me about Lyrica, it is a drug that never should have been released and only remains on the market to feed company profits at every one else s expense.

I had so many of the same symptoms when I took this drug and it was only for a few months, it didn't even occur to me that some of them could be the lyrica. I knew the swelling & weight gain was from the drug, & suddenly my thyroid stopped working so I figured that's why lyrica causes weight gain, I think it damages your thyroid. But my vision and memory problems I never attributed to the drug and now I'm really wondering if that was the cause. I am shocked at how quickly my vision deteriorated and the memory problems just drive me crazy. I'm only 47 and I constantly forget conversations I've had with people until they remind me. I can't believe this drug is still on the market & that no one is taking a serious look at it's side effects.

Amy - The falling asleep or narcolepsy is caused by the lyrica because I had sleep paralysis from taking the drug which they relate to narcolepsy. And when I researched the side effects of lyrica within the last few months they had added narcolepsy to the long list along with suicide. When I was trying to find the cause for sleep paralysis along with every other horrible side effect the doctor told me it was in my head.

Thanks carol, looked at your link but unfortunately don't think it will be much help here in Australia , my sons brilliant memory among other things was destroyed and has not recovered at all after ceasing lyrica more than 3 years ago , he is only 21 years of age , lyrica causes permanent irreversible damage .

Hi Mary , did you know that the a**hole that invented lyrica collects more than 2 million per month in Royalty's , so you are correct about a lot of money changing hands .The inventor grows rich and lives a life of plenty while his invention destroys human life and wreaks misery .

I was given Lyrica after surgery in 2011. Immediately I started having blurry vision and terrible depression. I attributed the weight gain to the depression, and the depression to my loss of site. My husband was reading over side effects of the drug I was prescribed and quickly brought it to my attention. I of course brought it to my Surgeon's attention and quit taking the drug. At the time, it was put to me that my vision would most likely return to normal with time. Well it's 2014 and I have never regained my normal site. It also seems that my facial muscles (especially on the left) have been impaired. I am at a loss. If a drug can reek this much havoc in less than a week, and no one is accountable. How do we choose medical care or even a physician?

Since we are all hoping we will eventually be able to pursue legal action against Pfizer, I suggest everyone get a copy of your medical records showing you were prescribed lyrica, the actual prescription receipt, the list of side effects from the pharmacy as of the date you received it and the actual pill bottle with any lyrica you may have left. Just C.Y.A.- you never know what you might need to prove you were on it.

I was prescribed Lyrica for M.S. nerve pain. All of the commercials I see (Texas) says it's to treat diabetic nerve pain. Never seen any advertisements for treatment of epilepsy.

I have not posted for some time. Have been sending off emails to many lawyer firms in Canada looking for someone to represent us in a class action lawsuit. To date I have not been successful. Every response ends with, "be sure to have representation as soon as possible, due to statue of limitations." Has anyone in Canada found a lawyer to represent?

Hi Mary , i would have thought that the lack of accepted evidence at the moment and lack of willingness of the legal profession should be enough to get around the statute of limitations should it become possible to sue for lyrica damage in the future .
