Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 13) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

I am also sorry about what lyrica did to you. Lyrica destroys brain neurons and unfotunately nerves take the longest to heal and develope new pathways, even years. I am going to college to learn. Since it has been almost 7 years when I got off lyrica, I am finding it extremely difficult to remember what I am studying. I am trying to teach my brain to make new pathways just like my mother did in the early 50s when physical therapy wasn't either unavailable or in its early infancy, that is when my mother developed a stroke from a brain aneurysm and suffered complete right-sided paralysis. She developed her own physical therapy, which included exercises to develope fine motor control so that she could write and speak. She worked so hard @ it, that after 3-4 years she was able to go back working in a hospital as a nurse. I will never be a nurse or a respiratory therapist because lyrica destroyed my neurons and I am 62 whhile my mother was 23, but I am not giving up in college. If I fail a course, I will keep repeating it til I Pass. I am only taking 2 courses @ night and so far my GPA is 3.62, but I have had to let my household duties go. Most of the time my family has been supportive, but my husband gets angry sometimes because he's handicapped and can't do much to help me. I hope lyrica has not damaged too many of my neurons. I want to work in a doctor's office before all my medical training goes down the drain. Good luck to all those suffering from lyrica side effects and rremember DON'T GIVE UP! :-)

Actually, it was initially created to help stop seizures. With that in mind, often times, pharmas then decide it can help with pain due to fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, & diabetic nerve pain. I was initially prescribed Lyrica (no "generic" available yet) due to pain from fibromyalgia & myofascial pain syndrome---which it did NOTHING to ease my 24/7 365 days of pain. The only thing Lyrica did for me was cause cataracts, strabismus ("lazy eye"), major swelling of feet, ankles, & legs, and some form of brain problem that has not been figured out even after 5 yrs! BTW, often times, doctors prescribe antidepressants & other anti-convulsion (mind messing) drugs, "since it's been found to help alleviate pain"...which none have helped to reduce any of the pain I've "lived" with for more than 30 yrs!

Your right, but it doesn't help us find a lawyer. They removed darvocet from the market for less side effects than lyrica and that was on the market for decades and helped a lot of people. When this happened doctors put their patients on narcotics like vicodan or tylenol 3.. so I. guess we are allowed to have a butch of senior addicts which is better than darvocet. The only eay lyrica will get pulled is a certain number of. people must die, by then the drug mpanies will have made their money, the statute of limitations will. Have run out and they will have made their millions and we will be left out in the cold. Lyrica isbeing treated like aspain and othenSAIDS. Lyrica cures all pain!!!

I was only on it 6 weeks and have memory issues and the pain is worse than before. I had a nerve conduction study done and have nerve damage in my hands and legs. Not to mention the speech problems and kidney issues. I will be in mid conversation and forget what I'm talking about. I feel all jumbled when I try to speak sometimes. It's embarrasing. I used to be a great public speaker.

Hi Mary , you have described many aspects of what my son is experiencing except for the fact he loves his cat and could never have any ill feeling towards it, .his memory is still bad even though it used to be brilliantly razor sharp just 3 years ago before he took Lyrica and he is only 19 years of age . It sounds like Lyrica may have triggered an anxiety disorder with you as it did with my son , the treatment for it is very difficult as the anxiety is not of a genetic nature but of drug damage specific to the Lyrica , . my son is now on Lexapro 20mg per day as well as an array of minerals , vitamins and a naturopathic treatment , all of which have only given him slight relief from his symptoms .I believe once Lyrica has damaged the brain that the damage is fairly severe and irreversible .

Hi Mary , the Egyptian statue is really appropriate as the ancient Egyptians used to worship cats as Gods , i have a feeling cats have not forgotten this fact .. but back to the Lyrica , i just hope that the damage to memory is not a precursor of early onset of brain degeneration caused by the Lyrica . time will tell.

Unless the FDA receives the "Adverse Event" reports it won't even look at what we write here. I worked for a pharmaceutical company and I am familiar with the way it works. Since the law firm said that, what they mean is that the FDA hasn't been alerted to the many complaints about the drug yet. Everyone needs to report their issue with LYRICA to the FDA. Just go to the FDA web site and file an ADVERSE EVENT REPORT.

Here are the phone numbers for the various States so everyone can report the problems they have been having with LYRICA:

Consumer Complaint Coordinators
To report adverse reactions or other problems with FDA-regulated products, contact the FDA district office consumer complaint coordinator for your geographic area. If you require the use of a Relay Service, please call the Federal Relay Services (1-800-877-8339). This is a toll free relay service to call Federal agencies from TTY devices.

Please Note: There is not a Consumer Complaint Coordinator in each state. Consumer Complaint Coordinators are assigned by regions. Therefore, several states will have the same Consumer Complaint Coordinator assigned to it.

As a RN with many, many years experience at the bedside as a real life staff nurse, then becoming a Nursing Instructor at the university level, and finally a second career as a Clinical Research Scientist for a pharmaceutical company, and most importantly as a LYRICA victim MYSELF who became totally disabled at the peak of my career from this medication, ...with all of this pertinent experience behind me I NEVER saw Darvocet affect patients even close to the severe adverse manner that LYRICA is currently being talked about as happening to patients on this and other websites. LYRICA could eat Darvocet for breakfast and still have an appetite to do more damage.

I do know that the issues surrounding Darvocet were reported to the FDA as Adverse Experiences and the statistics, (the NUMBERS), were then compiled and acted upon by the FDA which resulted in Darvocet being removed from the market.

The FDA must see the numbers...the statistics, for them to take notice and eventually ACTION. I just got off the phone with the FDA....YES, they called me back.... and was told that they haven't gotten very many complaints yet about LYRICA. But they also told me to let everyone know that the MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO REPORT A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A DRUG is to go to:

fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

and report the problems that LYRICA is causing.

Also, may I remind you that no law firm is going to take action either unless they can see the statistics related to our complaints. The numbers and quality of the reports of adverse events are what is meaningful to attorney's in evaluating the profitability of a potential lawsuit about a drug.

So let's get something going here to push for anyone out there who's been damaged by LYRICA to REPORT IT TO THE FDA. Talk is cheap. It may make us feel better but in the long run it isn't going to get LYRICA off of the market.

Right now.......go to this website and report the problems you've had due to taking LYRICA !!!!!!!

Because doctors are not always all that we have grown up believing them to be. I found this out when going from BEING a RN to BECOMING a PATIENT. They aren't the "Be all to end all" that we grew up thinking they are. They're just human. I think that when they don't have the answer they get annoyed and respond just like any other human being does sometimes...they resort to anger... but they put the anger in the wrong place....they misplace the anger onto the patient when it actually belongs on themselves when they are angry at not knowing the answer.

Don't confuse ALLERGY with ADVERSE EXPERIENCE. An allergy can be called an adverse experience, (which just means a "bad experience") BUT They are 2 very different things. Adverse reactions are not the same thing as Allergies. No one would ever, in a court of law, try to say that we are "Allergic" to Lyrica. Not unless they were very stupid attorneys. We have had ADVERSE REACTIONS or Adverse Experiences to Lyrica which are now soo common and soo severe when taking Lyrica that the FDA should be aware and remove this drug from the market. Don't give up. And don't think that the drug companies always win. And don't be afraid of them. That's what they would like you to be. Do the right thing and move to have this drug removed from the market so no more people have the BAD EXPERIENCES that we have had.

I consulted with a doctor about how to get off Lyrica. She has suggested that I reduce my dose by 25mgs a week for 8 weeks. Hopefully that will work and I won't get the horrible nausea I got before. best of luck to everyone here.

It doesn't matter whether you wean yourself off or go cold cold turkey in regards with lyrica, that's why I said call 6@ minutes they may decide to investigate lyrica. Once off the damage remains. I'm in college and I have some memory loss. I was taking notes and forgot how to spell "minor". Go ahead and wean. You are still destroying brain neurons. Call fo minutes, find the number anywhay you can. Maybe a lawyer will see it and help us!!

To everyone who has had a bad reaction to lyrica, the people who monitor this site posted my blog about calling 60 minutes. Since we don't have the money needed to counteract lyrica, let's lete news source do it for us. Who knows, there maybe lawyer out there hungry enough. So find my blog. It is about 3 to 10 back with all the information you need to get 60 minutes involved. Let's do something! Stop wallowing and complaining, and that means me too. This news investigation show may help Pfyzermay be a large company but so is NBC. Please, people call. I am ,because I care about you all, since I'm an ex-nurse and was in the fiield 29 years. I've seen bad drugs, and lyrica iss one of them. One bad drug almost killed me soon after the birth of my first son. Find the people out there who are suffering and tell them to callM

I went to my Dr today. The rhabdomyolysis has flared up again. The good news is that no one in his practice is prescribing Lyrica any longer. They reported my case to the FDA too.

LYRICA ADVERSE EVENTS REPORTED TO THE FDA OVER TIME.

MOST COMMON LYRICA ADVERSE EVENTS REPORTED TO THE FDA.

ADVERSE EVENT CATEGORIES FOR LYRICA.

Does anyone want to see what the FDA ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT LYRICA? Here's what they know from reports that have already been sent to them over many years:

Thanks Renee, so far I only get the bad headaches from it but we must go on. This Lyrica has got to come off all medication lists, the side affects are too drastic and once you develop it theres no turning back.

I was not taking any of the other drugs that cause rhabdomyolysis. The problem is the common side effects mask rhabdo. Swelling of hands, arms and legs. Fatigue and muscle weakness are also the symptoms. My nurse practitioner was reading the drug's chemical structure and said this drug is poison. They are trying to figure out what meds to put me on to control the pain. I refuse to take anything that has a similar drug chemistry.

Nick, don't you know, lyrica is the new 21st, "asperin" of the century. It's the new miracle drug; just like the 20th century, penicillin was the new "miracle drug of thetime. They are presribing it from headaches to gout. Let's take asperin, tylenol advil, and alleve. We don't need them. Placelyrica on the counter where the other drugs were. Make so you do not needthe a presription, then we can all be bloody, blithering idiots, who will be elected because he will garentee a lollipop in every house, because we will not remember the real issues @ hand. :'( Mary
