Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 12) (Top voted first)
UpdatedDoes anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you
A law suit should be filed for just their wording of Lyrica and its side effects, They should not label them in categories under Common effects, rare effect, Severe effects because as I read all these stories of people going though the same things as me, We all fall under the severe category, so the label in general should have only one category for the effects. They don't seem to even worn people that, all these symptom come on over a duration of time used, they creep and sneak up on you but you don't realize that your Lyrica is to blame because by know you cant speech or think straight or your to depressed to care. half your symptoms cause you to loose hair and teeth, then muscle, and weight gain ,rashes, numbness, your tired and weak ,fatigued, these are the real common symptoms and should be labeled as such. I got 50% of my I sight back and do not see these annoying little shadows flying past me any more, My Lyrica induced dyslectics are better now, but the itching doesn't stop! My bruising has stopped. All of us should find a way to sign a petition to stop this horrid drug! I rather feel my pain than to be in this hell of withdrawals its been a week and its still not out of my system. Its horrid!
My son has not had a dose of Lyrica for 2 years and 2 months and his memory and concentration have not returned to pre Lyrica levels , this drug has destroyed a brillient and promesing student , a tragic end to a young mans accademic ambitions , a life of torment and unfullfilled potential . , what an evil drug Lyrica is , a vile nuro toxin .
Thanks Mary , you did not mentioned the dose . My son was on Lyrica for a total of around six months and was under the age of eighteen so should not have even been prescribed it at all by Dr Terence Lim . If you have had all that trouble from only being on Lyrica for 1.5 months then i hate to think of the level of damage it has caused on my sons developing adolecent brain after six months of that vile drug , my son still complains daily that he just wonts his life back ., i cannot believe there is no compensation for what Lyrica has done to peoples lives , surely sooner or later some thing has to happen .
Let me tell you all, I have been on Lyrica and was on 1200 mg. a day. These so called pain management doctors wonder why we are such a mess. I stopped the drug cold turkey, I had no twitching, or any difficulties except for excessive sweating and still do. It probaly ruined me in that way. Also, it is deadly and if your toxic like I was your in big trouble. I am doubled upp cripled in a wheel chair now and I have no difference in my condition of stopping the lyrica. My condition never got better and just worsened. We need justice and not being treated like mice and experimenting with us.
Renee , i have seen first hand what Lyrica did to my teen age son and got the same rubish from these over educated professional crook doctors . maintain your rage as you are not crazy but they are misinformed by big pharma and it is not in there interests to listen .
hello, you say your husband has been put on Plavix. Was it a court order? If not, he does not have to take that toxic stuff whose side effects can cause major bleeding. don't be a guinea pig! Educate yourself & stand up to your doctor! My doctor insisted that I go on Lipitor & I absolutely refused -- I know a scam when I see one! I am presently writing a book on meds which cause blindness. I am not a doctor, just a humanities professor who can do deep research & apply logic.
Nick- I was told a dry brain meant I was losing fluid which I guess is like spinal fluid. But they didn't know why I lost it. They wanted to do a test through my spine but my surgeon said it wasn't possible because of my traumatic spinal injury(too much hardware thoracic spine). I was on 50mg 2x day for 2yrs I kept getting bumped up but couldn't tolerate it. I weighed maybe 100lbs after my accident since I couldn't move or eat. I can't remember if I had a follow-up MRI after I stopped taking it I know I had several while taking it because they were trying to find out what was happening to me. They finally decided it was all in my head (I was crazy!) The neuros I saw never even once mentioned the problem with my brain or all of the other problems were from Lyrica. It was a pain DR I switched to at a local teaching hospital 2yrs after beginning this who figured the dry brain and all of the side effects with it were from lyrica. I don't know what I would have done it I didn't happen to find him after the torture I went through at the top Phila neuro hospital. He saved my life! I did also have an eeg (i think) little needles in hand, arm, neck, head which I was told my nerves weren't firing correctly that is documented also. Which is why I would like to do something to get this drug off of the market. People like me are put on this drug because they are in pain and this is suppose to help but instead it creates new problems and many do not go away when you stop taking it.
Thanks for ypur reply Renee, it is hard to believe a horribly damaging drug like Lyrica ever made it on to the market in the first place , what kind of testing did these people and why did the FDA ever approve it and not even monitor its effects on people , the whole system is sadly lacking .
My name is William I have been on Lyrica for a few years and I want to (and have tried to) quit. The side-affects are terrible but they get a lot worse when I try to get off of Lyrica. My whole mentality is damaged betwen the memory loss and the confusion I am a former Master Plumber who can't remember my own profession anymore and it is impossible to put myself back out there to achieve any kind of livelihood. I feel that is totally wrong that the Federal Government can sue Lyrica for fraud but we are left holding the bag. It isn't right and it is sad no lawyer wants to take these guys on and erect a lawsuit for us as victoms. We are being swept under the rug!
Hi William , try and get off Lyrica as soon as you can by cutting down the dose very gradually untill you are ok with out it , thats what i had to do with my son .Remember the longer you take Lyrica the greater the nurological damage you will incure .
You need to talk to your Dr and gradually stop taking it because of the withdrawls but you do need to stop taking it or it will continue doing damage. If your Dr doesn't support you weaning off immediately than find a different doctor. Some of the fog will lift when you stop taking it all together. Good luck
NO the problem is definitely the drug. It's like playing russian roulette with patients lives because there's no way to determine how each patients body will respond to the drug beforehand. There have been way to many patients lives destroyed by this drug. Therefore this drug needs and must be removed from public consumption. How can one say lets help a few at the expense of others. The other thing is that the majority of physicians refuse to believe that lyrica is the culprit in any of our situations.

Hope this helps!
What helped me after I stopped taking the drug was exercise and sitting in the sun everyday for an hr. Since I am only able to do water therapy because of my spinal cord injury I bought a large hot tub and put it in the sun and do my therapy everyday. It has helped me mentally and physcially.
Nick - He kept trying to raise my dosage and everytime he did I got even worse so I kept going back down. And the Mri's of my brain showed a dry brain. But no one seemed to know why and they couldn't fix it because I have to much hardware in my thoracic spine to do the procedure they needed to do. I felt like I was going crazy I was suicidal. I haven't found anyone else who had an mri of their brain while on the drug. I had several.
Nick- Not one doctor gave lyrica a thought or that lyrica and elavil combined was causing some of the horrible side effects. The sleep paralysis went completely away when the lyrica was out of my system. My memory is not the same as it used to be and I still twitch maybe not as badly as while on it and my hands don't swell as much and I don't get the horrible electric shock in my wrists and hands. I don't have the anxiety attacks like I did and my speech has come back but my eyesight has not returned to normal I still see double a good portion of the day and is blurry. But when I was on it I couldn't speak, see, think, drive, or move if I fell asleep or just laid down and I am not suicidal anymore. I was told by a neuro when I was trying to get help that it was all in my head
JB - I don't remember what the neuro-opthamologist called it. Unfortunately, my memory was so bad and I was having a nervous breakdown but I was supposed to get special glasses made with prisms but by the time I was suppose to go and get them made I couldn't go to the doctors anymore because of the panic attacks. I might have the script somewhere with the info. I close my one eye and the double vision goes away so that is how I watch tv now. I went on this drug for spinal cord damage when I shattered my spine. I went through hell after my accident and after my reconstructive surgery to keep going mentally and to finally walk again and live in constant pain and then have this ruin my eyesight and all of the other lasting side effects. But I will try to find that information and let you know
I have my pharmacy printout. On Feb. 23, 06, I started my first dose of Lyrica, 25 mg. 2x a day for 2 weeks for my arthritis pain; then the next two weeks, it was increased to 50 mg 2x a day. The dosage stayed the same for 2 weeks. With no pain relief, it was increased to100 mg. 2x a day. No relief yet, so the dosa went to 200 mg. @2 a day. I still had pain. I didn't notice any side effects, but my family and co-workers did. The hospital thought I was drunk, I was staggering, had garbled speech, and kept asking the same question every 10-15 seconds. I kept falling @ home even though I was sitting on a chair. The hospital thought I was drunk so they did a blood alcohol test, which of course came back negative. The day I forgot how to start my car is the day I got off the drug cold turkey. My pain today is contrlled by tylenol 3, which works fine for me. I wish they would stop advertizing it as a cure-all for any type of pain and take it off the market. Next thing you'll hear is it helps people with gout!
Lisa F , i can certainly sympathize with you on your experience with Lyrica , this is a real life wrecker and it is a criminal act of negligence and cold hearted greed that this poison is still sold and so aggressively promoted as something good , did you recover from it after you stopped taking Lyrica , many people including my son still have on going side effects many years after they stop taking Lyrica , in other words , this stuff causes permanent damage , mainly nerve and brain damage .
I have permanent nerve damage and I'm in stage 3 kidney failure. I'm on a pain patch to help with the pain.
