Does it cause every morning leg cramping? ## Hello, Dottie! How are you? Sorry about the cramping. This tablet contains 100mgs of Losartan, which is an ARB that's used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Learn more Losartan details here. And yes, it has been known to cause muscle cramping. That has to be very annoying and you should talk to your doctor about trying a different medication. Most side effects wear off after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body gets used to a medication, but I can't imaging living with it for that long, when there are so many other options out there that you can try. Is there anything else I can help with?

I would like to know if Losartan Pot Tab has side effects such as breaking out in red blotches similar to hives. My husband has been taking this in place of benicar and we wondered if this could be causing these blotches that itch like crazy. ## Has he contacted his doctor? Losartan is different than Benicar, which contains the active ingredient Olmesartan, so it is possible that he's having an allergic reaction, even if he never had a problem with the Benicar. ## I am 45 years old.I was only a little hypertensive but the doctor recommended Losar H which i have been taking for the past 6 years. I have lot of difficulty in getting used to this drug as I have constant dryness in my throat, dry cough, dizziness, nausea. Recently I started having itchy red patches on my leg and lower back ...

Hi, I used to take 100 daily but felt that it was not giving me enough coverage so I started taking 50 in the morning and 100 at night. It was working very well as pressure is well controlled and I have no side effects. I have been on tgis dosage for over 3 years. Is this a dangerous dose as I was told that over 100 per day is not advisable. I'm just worried that if I go back to the 100 per day, my pressure will go up again ## HI, Leandra! How are you? Is your doctor not working with you on this? And exactly what medication are you taking? Fortzaar actually contains 2 ingredients, but you've only listed one dosage, which would be for the Losartan that's in it. Learn more Losartan details here. However, I can't answer your question, without also knowing the dosage of the ...

I have been on Lotrel (10/20) for several years and have experienced several side effects - mostly mild but in combination - I finally decided it was time to re- evaluate and consider other options. The side effects were numbness and tingling in the feet, dry mouth and jittery for 6 hours post dosing, bad taste and significant change in taste, nocturia, occasional dizziness and weight gain... The doctor prescribed Losartan 100mg. As this is he same class as one of my drugs on Lotrel, it seems counter-intuitive to put me on this drug. When I posed the question the doc said well you will have to deal wi other side effects with other antihypertensives. I also asked if my high BP was level 1 why was she not putting me on the 50mg dose - to mitigate side effects - and she said because my Lot...

Should Losartan 50mg and Verapamil 240 mg be taken at the same time? ## Hi Billie, Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between either of those medications. So from what I can tell, you shouldn't have any problems taking the two together or even within the same time frame. The only thing I would suggest being aware of is that you should avoid having any grapefruit while taking Verapamil or Losartan. I didn't know this before, but apparently grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels and effects of verapamil; increasing one's risk of certain side effects. And on the contrary, it can also decrease the effects of Losartan. You can learn more about each drug on the page for Verapamil Details and Losartan Details I hope this helps!

Hello! I have just been prescribed losartan +HCTZ by my doctor. I was told that once I take this, it is for life. Is there any chance of doing away with this medication and use alternative medicine instead( fish oi, garlic, etc)? I am not overweight and my triglycerides are fine. If I stick to proper diet and more consistent gym sessions, can I do away with combizar? Thank you. ## Hi, Jaypee! No, it doesn't necessarily have to be for life, there are people that do get their hypertension under control via proper exercise and being very careful with their diets. Some supplements can also help. The important thing to remember is to not just stop taking it abruptly. You should consult your doctor and, if it seems you're doing well and may be able to stop it, it should be done slowly...

This tablet reduces body weight by removing water from body. I have lost 12 kgs in 8 months with dosage of one tablet per day in morning. Are there any other side effects apart from this?. ## Hi, Mohan! This medication is actually not intended to be used for weight loss. It contains Losartan, which is an ARB that's used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions, as well as Hydrochlorothiazide, which is the diuretic that helps remove excess fluid. And yes, there may be other side effects, it is processed through the liver, so there is a chance that long term use could cause liver damage. You may also experience dizziness and nausea due to your blood pressure going low. An even bigger concern is dehydration if you're removing too much fluid from your body. L...

I was switched by my cardiologist from Lisinopril to Losartan because of the coughing caused by Lisinopril. Since taking Losartan 100 mg once a day I have experienced muscle aches from my shoulder all the way down the back to my thighs. It feels like I was doing a heavy workout. My VA Dr. said he didn't think it was from the Losartan. I see my regular Dr. in June and am going to inform him. Do any of u think it could be from the meds? ## From what I could gather, Losartan does list the following side effects that may be what you're experiencing: leg, knee, or back pain muscle cramps or weakness chest pain Referenced from: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a695008.html#side-effects To my understanding, it's unlikely that these side effects will subside until you stop taki...

Has anyone seen a price jump in Losartan 50, 90 day supply? In December I paid $14 and change, last week I paid $48 and change. The only change I made to my insurance was going to a higher deducible. However, this did not effect the December or April purchases as in both cases the insurance company paid zero. ## Based on my research, Losartan does have some pretty big price gaps, depending on where your getting it filled at. I used a pharmacy price checker (like GoodRx) in my zip code to determine how much it would cost for a 180 tabs of Losartan (50mg) and the price ranges anywhere from $12 to $135... Did you get your script filled at the same place you usually do? ## Yes, same pharmacy - Walgreens. When I called the pharmist on it he tried to tell me they did not have an increase and ...

Can Lozart H be taken twice a day ## What is the dosage and how high is the patients blood pressure? If you're just asking about splitting the existing dosage, yes it can be done and is usually good to do so, because it can give better blood pressure control throughout the day and night. However, most doctors will prescribe it to be taken once daily, because many people forget to take medications more often. If you are asking about increasing the dosage, you shouldn't do that without your doctor's approval. Learn more Losartan details here. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here.

I have been taking Atenol for blood preasure, I have been having issues with erections and maintaining them. the Doctor changed my medication to Lasartan and stated I should see an improvement. Has anyone had this issue while taking Atenol and did it improve with the use of Larsartan ## Erectile dysfunction can be a problem with virtually all blood pressure/cardiac medications. Dear Pres. Info.: My husband was prescribed Losartan 25mg yesterday. However, there were 2 different looking tablets in the bottles. Thanks to your web site, I was able to identify the white round one with 572 is in fact Losartan 25mg. The other one is "light green colored, oblong shaped" and the number '7364' on one side & the number "93" on the other side. Is this really Losartan 25 mg also???
