Thnx ## With your symptoms, you sound like you may be suffering hyperparathyroidism. You should get a calcium level along with a PTH level. Have you had surgery to remove one or more of the parathyroids. You have a total of 4 parathyroids and one or more could have turned into benign tumors (adenomas). If you're still having symptoms then there is still something wrong.

I was diagnosed hypothyroid on May 20, started on 75mcg levothyroxine that same day. The first few days I let great- more energy, not tired in the evening, not cold all the time. About 5 days into it, I started waking up feeling exhausted like I never have before. I can't walk as fast, and going to the store is exhausting. So is this a temporary side effect, or should I ask for a lower dose? Or just stop taking it altogether? Will this exhausted feeling go away, I feel horrible. Been a little over 2 wks since starting the Levo. Thanks! ## It is most likely temporary, things should improve after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body gets used to the medication, but you may experience tiredness/exhaustion again, in the future, if your dosage is adjusted. You may also experience dizziness...

Hi all, after many years on 250mg of thyroxine my thyroid level is really high and the dr has reduced the thyroxine to 100mg a day which is fine BUT why has my thyroid suddenly started working. ## Hello, Maria! How are you? It is difficult to say, it may just be due to age and the natural levels of hormones in your body changing. We do change regularly with time. How are you feeling? ## hi, dispite taking steroids for polymyalgia rumatica I feel pretty rubbish.

Hello to all: I am new here and have normal TSH, T3, T4 levels (completely normal) and first had very slightly elevated TPO antibodies of 21.8 (upper limit of normal 20.0) then on repeat 19.1 (within normal limits). However, I also suffer from chronic hives and dermatographism and there is some literature with individuals being treated with very low doses of Levothyroxine (Synthroid) of 25 mcg that may (or may not) help the condition. My MAIN concern is that I already have fairly thin hair and I am SO worried about hair loss which I have read can occur on this medication. Have any of you suffered hair loss on just 25 mcg? If this is a common side effect then I think I am just going to live with the hives - have already been through one bout of watching my hair fall out when I was on a c...

Is there anyone out there that has had a good experience with this medicine. Also does it always cause hair loss. It was just prescribed for me yesterday but I'm afraid to take it after reading about it. ## I've been taking Levothyroxine for 6 years now and I've had a great experience with this medicine. I have had to up the milligram dosage 3 times, but that's due to my thyroid levels keep decreasing. I have never noticed hair loss while taking this medicine, but it may have different side effects for different people. ## Thank you Julia , You are the first and only one out there that I have heard anything positive from concerning this drug. ## @Pat, Usually when people take the time to leave feedback, it's generally because something went wrong with their medicatio...

My husband has been on thyroxin since 2010. He hasn't had his dose altered recently but he is very volatile at the moment. This is not normal for him. I can't see a lot about this in side effects so I wonder could it be linked to thyroxin? He has also put on weight, had his cholesterol jump from 3 to 6, sweats dreadfully at night and doesn't sleep well. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. ## Hello, Terri! How is your husband doing? Yes, it could be related to the medication, his TSH being out of control again, or it may be completely unrelated. When was the last time his TSH was checked? Has he consulted his doctor?

Hi everyone, I've been taking 375mg of Levothyroxine per day for the last 2 years. I understand that the maximum dosage you shoul take is 200mg per day. I'm quite concerned regarding the dosage I'm on, even though my GP claims it is safe? The thyroid agency specialist said that he has 5000 patients and none of them are on this high a dosage. Ive been having headaches and spells of dizzy spells constantly for the last 3 months and although I have visited the doctors concerning this, they still mantain that the dosage is safe! Can anybody on here clarrify that this is the case, as I have some serious concerns regarding the whole thing. ## Hello, Rich! How are you? No, there is nothing saying that it's dangerous, but it's just rarely used in amounts over 200mcg, at leas...

I have been taking Levothyroxine 50 mcg for years. Recently, I am noticing an increase in my cold temperature intolerance. Basically, I'm freezing all the time not mater what the weather or season. ## Hello, Marme! How are you? When was the last time your hormone levels were checked via blood word? That is a symptom that can be associated with thyroid issues, so your current dosage may not be adequately handling the problem, anymore. ## I have Hypothyroidism and I am on 112 mcg and as of 2/14/2014 I found out that Synthroid can have the following side effects. It can raise your blood pressure, you can have mood swings, you can experience being cold all the time. I have contacted a endo within my area for a appointment to discuss my options but I AM NOT GOING to be taking this medica...

Went to the ER twice in one night 10 days ago for an all of a sudden feeling of flushing from head to toe and just generally feeling weird. First visit resulted in a TSH of 18.5. I was told I was experiencing hypothyroidism. I've been on levothyroxine for approximately 8+ years. Had my thyroid removed for a goiter that turned out to be thyroid cancer about 9 years ago. Dose of levothyroxine has been adjusted over the years, but I've never experienced anything like I was feeling that night. Second visit to ER, the doctor increased my levothyroxine to 150mcg and gave me a prescription for xanax. I have not been able to sleep since that night. Severe, severe insomnia. This morning was my 9th day on the increased dose if levothyroxine. I'm just starting to feel like myself to a ...

my story when i was diagn with hypothyriod with family dr and was given 50 mg but after still under i was taking 75mg , refer dr put me back on 50 mg and now i got new direction while still using 50mg by 3 days*75mg = 25+50mg n 50mg for 4dy ## Hello, Banana! How are you doing? If they are taking blood samples regularly to check your thyroid levels, it is completely normal for your doctor to adjust the dosage accordingly. There isn't one set dosage that you can be given, since the hormone levels fluctuate, the medication dosage must be changed to compensate. Is there anything else I can help with?

Recently diagnosed with underactive thyroid. Extremely low vitamin d levels suagar levels elevated and what ever level is elevated that should be an indication of gall stones or gall bladder issues. Dr put me on 50. Mcg of levothyroxine. I went back for blood work in a month. At about the same time I had severe itching. Doctor said all levels looked good and I didn't feel as sluggish. Dr left me on the same strength but changed to synthroid. My skin itches and burns like crazy. I haven't taken any synthroid for 2 days but I still itch. How long before the itching should subside? ## Hello, Julia! How are you? Sorry about the itching problem. This has been reported by many people with thyroid issues and it could be related to that, rather than the medication. Have you consulted yo...

Bought levothyroxine 75mcg at pharmacy in Costa Rica. Packaging says made by Merck in Mexico. White pill with 75 on one side and a cross on the other. No letters but everything I read says it should have an EM with the number. Anyone know if it's ok if in merck package that says levothyroxine 75 mcg? ## Hello, Lee! How are you? I'm sorry, I've tried searching for this, but haven't found anything yet, it's difficult to positively identify pills from foreign sources. I'll keep looking and post back, when I have information for you. Does anyone else recognize this tablet?

I take levothyroxine 200mg because i had thyroid cancer. blood test show that now my thyroid is very overactive is this dangerous ## Levothyroxine, a generic for Synthroid, is a hormone used to supplement when someone's Thyroid does not produce enough. There are medical conditions that can arise when you have too much of this hormone as well, however, only your doctor can decide what the appropriate treatment is for you in conjunction with those levels. Was there anything else I could help you with? ## Hi I've recently been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia they put me on carbagen 100ml 2 a day , as its coming up to christmas and family will be round can I drink alchole ? .

I started on Levothyroxine about a month ago, 50 mg, but got severe headaches, so dropped the dose to 25 mg. I still feel exhausted but the headaches have nearly gone, but there is another very uncomfortable problem. I have severe itching in my nether regions, so bad that it is interfering with my life. I stopped taking the meds over the weekend, and the itching stopped. Now I am back on it, and the itching has returned, so it's definitely the Levo that's causing it. I have no transmitted diseases, no candida, no other reason for it. Will this fade in time, or do I have to accept that while I'm on thyroid meds, I will itch? It's awful... ## Hello, Cantsit! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 5 years ago. I started taking Synthroid and lost 40 pounds within about a year (I was actually almost underweight - joy of joys, right?) Slowly, I gained weight, and couldn't diet or exercise it off. I was sick and hardly ate for 5 days and didn't lose an ounce. But, my weight still wasn't terribly. Flash forward to 3 months ago when my doctor upped my dosage. Within the past two months, I've gained 12 pounds - 5 of those pounds were gained between last night and this morning. I ate normally, so what gives? I'm putting on weight at an alarming weight and nothing seems to help. Any ideas out there? For now, I'm going back to my old dosage. ## Hello, Rose! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about your weight issue. Howev...
