Levothyroxine Overdose

Hi everyone, I've been taking 375mg of Levothyroxine per day for the last 2 years. I understand that the maximum dosage you shoul take is 200mg per day. I'm quite concerned regarding the dosage I'm on, even though my GP claims it is safe? The thyroid agency specialist said that he has 5000 patients and none of them are on this high a dosage. Ive been having headaches and spells of dizzy spells constantly for the last 3 months and although I have visited the doctors concerning this, they still mantain that the dosage is safe! Can anybody on here clarrify that this is the case, as I have some serious concerns regarding the whole thing.

Hello, Rich! How are you?

No, there is nothing saying that it's dangerous, but it's just rarely used in amounts over 200mcg, at least according to the standards of the U.S. FDA.

In most cases where someone requires a dose over 200mcgs, it's due to some type of malabsorption problem that should be checked into by their physicians.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
