I have been on Levothyroxine for 20 years. three years ago I developed a very itchy rash been on steroids, changed detergents and used many creams recently went off a steroid cream which caused thinning of my skin with blood spots and tearing of my skin. Recently had more blood test and my TSH is .500 could the rash be from too much medication? ## Hello, Charlie! How are you doing? What dosage are you on? Have you seen an allergist/immunologist? My TSH levels were 4.5 so they raised my dose to 50mcg I am always so tired and suck all the time ## Hello, Beth! How are you feeling? Sorry about the issues that you're having. Being tired and sick are things that almost everyone with a thyroid issue goes through for awhile, it does play a major role in the proper regulation of our bodies. I have been taking levothyroxine for 5wks now, i was borderline when diagnosed. I have had terrible side effects while taking this medication, palputations anxiety unable to sleep headaches and an increase in blood pressure. My gp said i could just stop taking the medication and has taken another blood test. Will i have any withdrawel symptoms. ## Hello, Andre! How are you doing? I've recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder type II, an under active thyroid gland, insulin resistance, familial high cholesterol, anti-bodies attacking my thyroid gland, lowered iron absorption and also lowered DHEA. As a result I've started receiving multiple new medications, and just to name a few: Diotroxin, Epitec, a multi-mineral, iron, insulin reducing medicine, stomach ulcer medication and so forth, each to treat my long list of diagnoses... Hi, I am a 36 yr old female. I started noticing hair loss and brain fog about 2 years ago. I finally had my thyroid tested and Dr said it was on low end of normal so prescribed 25 levothyroxine. No change in symptoms so increased to 50 things seemed to become more stable. Then retested about a month ago and increased me to 75. Have been feeling really weird in my head, like my head is floating/just off, hard to describe plus hair loss got worse. Dr said to go back to 50. My question is...is there something natural I can take instead of prescription drugs. Hi, Im 15 and have been taking Levothyroxine 50mcg for over 3 years. When my doctor first old me that my thyroid was not working properly he said that it was overactive, he said something about it being at either 5 or 500. I'm not really sure. I do know that levithyroxine is for underactive thyroid though so I assume he meant I had an underactive and not overactive. I have several aunts that are on levothyroxine for underactive thyroid glands. I was told when I first started the medicine that I would lose weight when my thyroif began working properly. I have been taking tyhroxine for 20 years , my gp made and error and lowere my tyhroxine to 125mg from 250mg . in between this time I started appearing a rash . I went for a blood test and my level was underactive so I went back on 250g. Going on the 50 wasn't too bad,,just mild anxiety. Then on 75mcg, I started to feel fluttery around my heart, and a bit panicky.I wrote my doctor and told her I wouldn;t continue on the two alterating. I would jut be able to take the 50mcg,as I was going out of the country on a tripand needed to feel peaceful.So , on my own, I took the 50mcg for about three weeks....still had constant uneasy, jittery feeling,,,so I went off all;;on my own.three weeks ago. So I am at my wits end here. Last year I was diagnosed hypothyroid after my TSH was at 3.4 and was instantly put on 50 mcg of levothyroxine. Ever since around that time, I had crazy bouts of vertigo and dizziness, hot flashes, heart palpitations, high blood pressure (never had that before), terrible migraines calves are cramping and I have had pretty much ever test done known to man. MRI with contrast was normal, Echo was normal, Holter monitor was normal, ENT VNG test was normal, chest xray normal, various of blood tests done (most showing how unstable my TSH numbers are)now I am having a tilt table test done because they think its due to Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia!!! i started taken 50 mg levothyroxine for almost a month and for the past couple weeks i have been feeling poorly bad muscle weakness and seem more tired than before i usually excersie 3 times a wewk but i have barley had the energy to get up to go to the bathroom and the only thing thats changed is started this med. I have been on Levothyroxine for about 11 years with no problems until I was diagnosed with dry eyes about 4 years ago. I was complaining of an ache in my right eye and was given the dry eye diagnosis. As the ache continued to get worse, I finally pressed Kaiser to give me an MRI (a total of 3 now), and they found nothing to cause the ache. Finally did some research, found the eye-Levothyroxine connection and have taken myself off the med & replaced it with appropriate herbs. Can levothyroxin 200 cause weight loss ## Levothyroxine is used to treat thyroid disorders, it is not intended to be used as an aid to weight loss. Many people with a thyroid issue tend to gain weight and some of them do lose it, when they get it under control, but most actually don't. Hi, I've taken Nitrofur-Macr 100mg and did ok with it. I recently had to start taking Levothyroxine 50mg for a thyroid condition. And now when I take Nitrofur-Macr I break out all over my neck, ears, back & arms in a horrible rash that burns almost. Is this a normal side effect?
