The Dr prescribed my mom codorol to treat her diarrhoea....is this right? As far as I know it could cause constipation and nausea....but in general it treats pain. ## Hello, Des! How is your mom? This medication is listed as containing Paracetamol and Codeine, so the FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth, in addition to those you've already mentioned. If the doctor felt this would be the best thing to help, then she should try it. What has caused her diarrhea?

I read somewhere that Linzess BLOCKS PAIN SIGNALS. If that is so...I'm concerned. Pain is our bodies way of letting us know something is wrong. I'm afraid that something may be going on and I will not know until it's too late. I started Linzess about 3 weeks ago. I was disappointed the first two weeks because I saw very little to almost no change. I stuck with it and now it is working. But again; I'm concerned about the Blocking of Pain Signals. ## Hello, Lidia! How are you? It does block them, but in the intestines, where it works, not systemic throughout your entire body, so I hope this information helps alleviate your concerns. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help...

I have suffered from constipation for over fifteen years. I have tried all the usual over-the-counter remedies for constipation and found that I was using a suppository with Miralax daily just to get minimal relief. My doctor prescribed Linzess because I was getting frustrated with the abdominal discomfort. I have been on Linzess for approximately two months now. It has definitely helped with the constipation, usually working within two hours. It is typically a very watery discharge. However, there have been a few days that I have had explosive diarrhea and several times I have had to plan my day around where the bathrooms are. There are pros and cons with taking this medication but the pros have the upper hand with me since it has given me relief. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? I'm v...

My doctor prescribed Prepopik prior to my colonoscopy. He said the first dose should be at 4 p.m. and the second one at 10 p.m. I'm concerned I'll be going all night and still be going in the morning. My procedure is at 9 am about half an hour from my house. Anyone have any advice? ## Hi Scott, Have you had a look at any other Prepopik discussion boards here? I have suffered constipation for years- sometimes no BM for weeks. Eventually- I just stopped all BM completely. I resorted to bisacodyl once per week. Eventually, I had to take 4 at a time- until that stopped working. Scheduled colonoscopy but the prep didn't work. Second prep did only because I mixed it with large amounts of bisacodyl. Results showed nothing. Doctor gave me linzess. 145 mg didn't work. 290 mg also didn't work. So, again, I took lots of bisacodyl. After that, I started the linzess again- after the clean out, I am now having BM every other day. Very loose but after the BM it's not like I'm running to the bathroom all day. I suspect I will have to periodically take the bisacodyl to keep things moving- but maybe only once every couple weeks instead of ...

I been on Linzess for like 2-3yrs. It is the best that has happened since Zelnorm. I seen everyone's Q&A's and tp answer those in question. I work 8-4pm and usually take it around 3pm giving it an hr or so before eating and by 6 or 7pm it works wonders. For those having severe constipation like myself, I take another before bedtime which is 11/1130pm and by 530am it also releases the rest of stool. So in short, take one around 11pm or bedtime AND another the next day around 3pm (ASK your doctor first if two is suitable- as im not sure and never asked) AND (depending on your work schedule). Just make sure it's an hour before you leave work. ## I believe if you take it twice a day you may desensitize. I cannot site the NIH page I read this on but you could Google it. Best ...

I started taking this meds in the summer. I am a distance running. I am experiencing heavy legs after running 13 or more miles. I want to know if anyone has had this happen to them... ## Hello, Lynn! How are you? There are a couple of possibilities that may explain it due to Linzess side effects. As listed by the FDA, it can cause weakness, dehydration, fatigue and hypokalemia (low potassium.) Thus, you may be experiencing one or more of those side effects. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to help you determine which one(s) is/are causing the problem.

I take 90 to 120 mgs of morphine daily for pain control (30mg tablets). I have maintained this dose consistently (2+ Years). I've taken magnesium citrate as a laxative in the past-10 oz per dose (1.75 per fl oz) as needed. It usually does the job. Brand name is Citroma by Swan. Is a continued weekly or biweekly use of this product recommended? I would like to eliminate or reduce usage of other laxatives. ## Hello, Jerry! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Actually, there are specific warnings that state magnesium citrate is not safe for chronic, or long-term use. It's typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include gas, diarrhea, stomach cramps and bloating. If you need something for long-term use, it would be best to discuss it with...

Type 1 diabetic, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, allergies, glaucoma and constipation. What else? Taking Linzess. Dr prescribed 580 mcg! Not helping, just bloat. I am not going to take it anymore and just use Lactulose. I hope to lose the 15 lbs gained in 3 months. Glad to know that I am not alone. ## Hello, Myriad! How are you? I'm sorry that the Linzess isn't working for you. What medications do you take for the other conditions you have? There's a chance that some of them could have caused the weight gain and constipation. For example, as listed by the FDA, most medications for high blood pressure can cause weight gain.

Taken this med for a year, just got the word from Dr I have type 2 diabetes. did any one else develop diabetes after taking Linzess? ## Interesting. I've been taking Linzess for about 2 yrs now (145 mcg) and it has worked great for my motility problem. About nine months ago, I started having symptoms of neuropathy in my hands & feet & have had lots of testing done to no avail. However, while my glucose tolerance test came back good, I was told that something called Hemoglobin A1C was 5.7 which may indicate prediabetes. After so much searching as for why I am experiencing nueropathiv pain, I'm afraid I might end up being diagnosed with diabetes. Because I love a healthy lifestyle and diabetes does not run in my family, i've been considering the medications that I have...

Today was the first day I took the Linzess. The Dr.gave it to me samples of the med to take for constipation. It worked with in a hour. But all it was, was water. I drank liquids to try to keep myself hydrated. Unfortunately I ended up with severe leg and rib cramps. I drank several bottles of Power Aide and lots of water. I must have been having fluid shifts. I'm was instructed to take it daily. I hope I don't have same problems tomorrow. ## Hello, Lynn! How are you feeling? Unfortunately, many people report that it does tend to cause that type of diarrhea regularly, rather than actually helping them have regular bowel movements. Other side effects as listed by the FDA may possibly include heartburn, nausea, vomiting and headache. Can anyone else that's been on it chime in?...

I used MiraLax for my colonoscopy prep yesterday. Mixed 238 grams with 64 oz of Lemon-Lime Gatorade G2. I have have 5 of these tests in the past 25 years and this was the best tasting but after 6 of the 8 glasses of 8 oz mixture got very nauseous and threw up 5 times. I was supposed mix another 32 oz later but there was no way I couldn't take any more, canceled my apointment. Feeling about 75% better now after 12 hours.

Or in Peru? ## It is sold over the counter in Mexico, Central America and most of South America and most probably also in the Caribbean. ## Spasmo Canulase, is a wonderful med for digestive disorders but not for constipation, it's more for SPASM (indigestion) or you can use it as an enzyme when you know you are going to get sick after eating. The U.S. does not sell it because it will really hurt the Doctors and medicine factories big money business. Unfortunately it's all about the money.
