Is it going to work ## No, that may prevent it from working, it should be taken at least a half an hour, before eating. Most that take it with food have found it not to be effective. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
I've been prescribed both by the same doctor with the expressed knowledge that they are different. I don't use this doctor any longer and would like to avoid contacting her. Both are laxatives to assist with side affects from chemotherapy and narcotic pain medication. I'm curious if one is any different than the other aside from their color and manufactures. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? Yes, they are different. The DSS stands for Docusate Sodium, it is actually considered a stool softener. Unlike a stimulant laxative, it will take 12 to 72 hours to produce a bowel movement, it really just helps soften it up, which may get it moving. Its typical side effects may include nausea and gas. Senna, however, is a natural herb that is used as a laxative, so it actually does help make...
I am going to start Linzess tomorrow morning I will take it at 4:30 and eat breakfast at 5:15. If I haven't had a bowel movement by 6:30 do you think it would be safe to drive to work? I have an hour drive. ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? Unfortunately, I can't say. It may actually be best to speak to your doctor about starting it on the weekend, or whenever you have a few days off. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, abdominal cramping, bloating and diarrhea. Can anyone that's taking it chime in with their opinions? ## I have been taking Linzess for over 3 weeks now and have had no trouble getting to work in the mornings. I have had no diarrhea and I usually have one or two bowel movements for 3 or 4 days and then...
I took my first linzess today smaller dosage and had severe diarrhea passed out felt like I was going to die. I'll never take it again. But it burns still bloated problem with urination and burning. Who do I contact? ## Hello, Rabbit! How are you? You need to inform your doctor and have this checked out, those are definitely not normal side effects of this medication. The FDA lists those as including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, stomach cramps and bloating. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I saw every one of those symptoms listed on like except I didn't vomit. Who are you to ask my doctor about what my experience was like during that moment that day. I'm the one that had this reaction! My medical privacy is mine, who are you to ask for my doctors name?

What is an oval shaped gel like pill that is purple on one side and cream color on the other side? It has P 10 on it and it is used for constipation. ## This is a generic or store brand for Colace, it contains Docusate Sodium 10mgs, used as a laxative. ## My father who is 91 has been taking RA Col-Rite 100 mg twice a day for a couple of months. He has been noticing a feeling in his face like it's swelling but it is not evident to others and says that his eyes feel puffy and dry. He uses eye drops so it's not that he's experiencing dry eyes in general. ## I cannot believe that every pharmacy in the Bronx, Rite Aid or any other, will not dispense legitimately prescribed Oxycodone.
Taking 290mg of Linzess 40 minutes before first meal on an empty stomach. Before I'm even finished eating I get severe cramps and run to the bathroom and have bad diarrhea. Should I be taking a lower dose? I only take the Linzess every other day. I have IBS with constipation and colitis. ## Hello, Shirley! How are you? Yes, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying to lower dosage, for awhile to see how it works for you. The cramping and diarrhea can be normal side effects, as listed by the FDA, but the lower dose may help mitigate them. Other side effects may possibly include nausea and dizziness. Is there anything else I can help with?
Hi, I've been taking Linzess about 1-2 times a week for about a year. Usually get several loose BMs when I take it, but sometimes I feel great and other times severe bloating, gas and heartburn. Also have gained 5 lbs in 6 months, could that be from the med? Is it really necessary to wait 30 mins after taking it to eat or drink coffee? Thanks!! ## Hello, Nicole! How are you? Yes, those can be normal side effects of it, as listed by the FDA. Other users have reported experiencing them, as well. You may also experience abdominal cramping. And yes, it is also necessary to wait that 30 minutes to allow it to have its full beneficial effect. Is there anything else I can help with?
on 3rd day. Have bm' s in morning about 45/60 mins after taking Linzess. Those are only ones for the day. They are easier and formed. After I feel really good until afternoon when the bloating comes and feel full in bowel. Taking Gas X seems to help. When does full effect of Linzess happen? If IBS-C is the reason is this a 24/7 365 day or will there be periods of relief? Don't want to be on meds forever!!! Does it get better??? This is my first episode and it's been a month. 64 years old, would have thought it would have started when I was younger! ## Hello, Dot! How are you? It may take a couple weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body, but most people do have some results similar to yours early on. As listed by the FDA, other side effects may possibly ...
Bloody diarrhea everytime, this time bloody urine. Not worth it. ## I have to agree with you! It might be that it's just not the right medication to help you. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, bloating and stomach cramps. How long have you been taking it? ## Three times in the last month. ## Have you informed your doctor, yet?
When will the diaherra stop while taking linzess, today was my first day taking it and I have been in bathroom 15 times today with diaherra. ## Hello, Lori! How are you doing? Wow! I'm very sorry. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need a dosing adjustment, some people have switched to taking it every other day, when it had such a dramatic effect. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may also include nausea, dizziness, bloating and abdominal cramping.
Took Linzess intermittently for the last few months from doctor provided samples, didn't work great but no real issues. Filled my first 30 day supply on June 11th and have been in agony ever since. feel like I've been punched in the gut, kidney area pain, bloating, distention, and fatigue. Doc said it wasn't from Linzess, so I kept taking it. Tested liver, pancreas, everything is normal but these stomach pains will not go away. Only thing that helps is sticking to a clear liquid diet, but I can't do that forever. Last 2 nights woke up around 4am and ran, literally ran to terlet and experienced a Dumb and Dumber type "evacuation". This morning I decided to stop the Linzess. Rather be constipated. I'll post an update. May not be the Linzess causing the issues b...
although I do not eat anything for at least 30 minutes before taking the medication, I do drink a few cups of coffee. Is this okay? Also, the Linzess worked the first day I took it and then 2 days later but has not worked for the last 7 days. Any ideas why? ## Hello, Troubled! How are you? No, you shouldn't drink coffee, either. The coffee, or anything else you ingest too soon may be preventing it from working properly. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications?
Zapril (2.5mg) makes me extremely constipated. This occurs in the shape of a section of faeces immediately before the anus. The length of this section is 10 to 15 cm. It appears almost as hard as a stick and reminds of glued together droppings of an animal like a deer. I stopped this medication 4 weeks ago and since that my defecation action doesn't require much effort anymore. Fazit: I regard the use of Zapril as very dangerous because it attacks the lining of the anus when you try to push the stick of faeces out. It anyway requires extreme belly muscles pressure( probably drives your blood pressure up as well), suppositories, help of fingers, etc. A stupid and irresponsible medication. ## Zapril extremely drains your body of all fluids. With that I said everything I can say about i...
My GI prescribed Prepopik at my request - it sounded easier than the other options. My instructions are to take the first dose at 5 pm the night before, and the second 4 hours before my procedure. I am a little concerned about this second dose - it will take us an hour to get to the clinic, and there are few options for emergency bathroom stops along the way. Is the reaction to the second dose less urgent than it is for the first? I plan on asking the clinic nurse about my concerns next week (procedure is next Friday afternoon) - I would be more comfortable doing the second dose early Friday morning. But I wanted to hear from some of you that have used this stuff. I do plan on doing the low residue diet next week - my clinic only requires a low fiber diet 7 days before (no seeds or nuts...
I have Gastroparesis, pelvic floor dysnersia, and chronic ideopathic constipation. I had been taking 4 capfuls of miralax daily (which stopped working), amitiza (never worked) and now Linzess. The very first day it caused severe pain and I had pretty severe diarrhea. The next few days & nights I had severe abdominal pain, but now just cramping and lots of bloating. I have not had ANY movements at all since the diarhea on day 1. Is this normal? ## I hope your seeing a gastroenterologist and if so CALL the doctor. ## Hi GPcrusader, Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I've read on other related threads, the time it takes for Linzess to work actually varies greatly for each and every individual. However, I do agree with Amber in that it might be a good idea to touch base w...
I have been on Linzess for 2 days and no movement, I think I am going back to milk of magnesia, I was using this and it worked great until my doctor put me on a water pill, and I told her I could not take them, they dried me out so bad and was so weak that I stopped taking them. could the water pill dried me out so bad that my lower colon is twisted. I am so upset. I take pain medicine. ## Hello, Footsie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you been taking the Linzess on an empty stomach? For it to be effective, it can't be taken with food. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, abdominal bloating, diarrhea and heartburn. What pain medication do you take? Many of them can cause constipation, so it could b...

WHITE ON ONE SIDE THE OTHER RED ## Hi Gloria, I'm not certain as to whether this is a definitive match, but information I am seeing suggests that what you have is an over-the-counter stool softener/laxative by the name of Docusate sodium (100mg). They describe the red and white tablet as being a liquid filled capsule, made by Kroger Co. For verification, it also reportedly carries a National Drug Code of 30142-238. Another attribute to take note of is its size. The particular description I found lists the size as being 12 mm. One other thing I want to mention is that I did come across a nearly identical pill that carried an imprint of "SCU1" as opposed to "SCU2", which was also identified as a stool softener. However this pill was completely red and didn't have w...
How long should it take for linzess to start working. It is my second day and so far nothing. Also I see some people say it causes weight gain. I would have thought the opposite. Can you tell me about that? ## Hello, Bella! How are you? I'm sorry that it hasn't worked for you, yet. Has there been any change? Please make sure that you are taking it with a full glass of water at least half an hour before eating. The time it takes to work can vary from person to person, some have found it to work right away and others have had to take it for a couple weeks. The typical side effects as listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting and weakness. If there is no change soon, then you'll need to contact your doctor.
