Prepopik Prep
UpdatedMy GI prescribed Prepopik at my request - it sounded easier than the other options. My instructions are to take the first dose at 5 pm the night before, and the second 4 hours before my procedure. I am a little concerned about this second dose - it will take us an hour to get to the clinic, and there are few options for emergency bathroom stops along the way. Is the reaction to the second dose less urgent than it is for the first?
I plan on asking the clinic nurse about my concerns next week (procedure is next Friday afternoon) - I would be more comfortable doing the second dose early Friday morning. But I wanted to hear from some of you that have used this stuff. I do plan on doing the low residue diet next week - my clinic only requires a low fiber diet 7 days before (no seeds or nuts, etc).
I really don't want to do a poor prep and have to redo the procedure as a result. But I don't want to have to wear an adult diaper or have an "accident" in the car either.

this was the first time i was given prepopik by my gastro. for my past 3 colonoscopy i was given golightly. prepopik was by far easier to tolerate. no thick murky consistency, only 10ozs. & you can drink any clear liquids after that. problem was i could not stop going to bathroom & the urgency was awful. didnt make it in time several times & spent my time in & out of shower. i did not experience that with golightly. my procedure was scheduled for 10:00 am. i started prep @ 5:00 pm day before & repeated @ 8:00. no sleep that night at all. i was extremely agitated. i thought i was going to be forced to cancel precedure because i was still going up until the time i had to leave for appt. very disappointed. i don't know if i would use this again.
