How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 5) (Top voted first)
UpdatedIm Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx
T blonde thanks you dont have to worry the norco will stop your wds and the morphine is er to last longer sorry to hear about your back problems thats my worst fear i know in the future i will have to have more surgery and then im back to the pain killers the rods in my back hurt from time to time but im good for now ive been on the same combination of meds before i can tell you the wds from suboxone are worse to me than the others they take longer to start and then last longer to get over this past sunday i got to ride my motorcycle and had a great ride i knowthis scares you but i can tell you his plan works great and you will have very little wds i don't want to scare you but seriously your back pain and problems need to be addressed before you put yourself through all this and then find out you have to have surgery if i were you i would try to have your dr do something now im sure your husban would agree then you can do it all at one time your not abusing anything you just are addicted there is a difference when i had my last surgery they put me on fentanyl a large dose per day and i took it for only three months didnt abuse it but got addicted to that thats when i got terribly bad after they took it away bu. Then i didnt know what i know now ive llearned the hard way i do wish they would let you give people your number on here if they wanted this is how we learn i didnt learn anything until i wen. To a prprogram here in Winston Salem. N.C. that has group meeting and we learn by other addicts. Who knew right but if i can give you some more advice im here and dont worry about the legnth of meggage thats how we all learn more on here everyone is different but we are all the same. Thanks, Steve
Yes ive been thriugh wds from suboxone to me they are worse than the wds from norco ive never done h before i think she was talking about having to already be in withdrawal to start the morphine and norco when she starts taking those her wds will go away the morphine and norco will make the endorphins in her brain to react and then after the time the dr keeps her on them he is going to ween her off slowly to minimize her wds ive never heard of anyone just having wds for one day but hers will be very minimal duing the drs plan thanks ssprinkke
YES:-) I just got off Subs with NO WITHDRAWALS! I was TERRIFIED, it seemed too good to be true, but I am following my wonderful Pain Management Dr.'s plan and I literally haven't ANY wd's, I'm so GRATEFUL, because everything on the internet says that sub wd's are HELL! Dr's don't tell people about this PAINLESS Sub detox because they are making so much money by keeping people addicted to Suboxone/Subutex. How long and what dosage are you on? Please reply to me asap, I can help:-)
Terrified blondie see i told you you had nothing to worry about im proud of you great job now just keep up the good work i wish mine would g. That great but as i said before the pain killers are my worst enemy but i truly am proud of you great job
I really, really doubt anyone can get off of Suboxone without any w/d's. I am not saying that it is impossible, but if it has to do with substituting one opiate for another, I think you are mis-leading the people on this board. Every opioid or opiate has w/d's attached to it when anyone stops taking them, unless they were a short term or intermittent user. Like if the doctor gave you 30 pills of Hydrocodone and you used 6 of them in 2 weeks while recovering from surgery, this would be NO problem to quit without any w/d's. However, if you took 100's like me, there is no way I could just stop and not suffer w/d's. I went through detox and after a few days, I felt really good. Then about day 4, all hell broke loose and I began to get sicker than a dog. I immediately went back to the detox center and they put we on Suboxone, which had an immediate affect on me and stopped the sickness for two months and then weaned me off for 6 weeks with limited w/d's. Whatever anyone decides, I wish them the best of luck and also success. I pray for all of us addicts for recovery everyday and I hope everyone else out there is doing the same. Not to preach, but God can and does help the cure. We all deserve the best that life has to offer. May God Bless us all.
Slsmakingit, Good Morning, I hope you're doing well. To answer your question, YES, I will definitely keep you posted. I've already started tapering myself and I still feel GREAT and no wd's. I really want to thank you for your advice and your support and encouragement when I stared this Sub detox. It really helped. I'm surprised at the people who are speaking to me so rudely! But, as I said, I will keep you posted...I stopped the Morphine ER last 24 hours ago and I'm still doing GREAT! I'll post on here this evening. Right now, My Husband and I are going on a nice long Harley ride in the sun. GOD BLESS++
Hi feliciano, Was wondering how your doing?
im gonna say this again as i stated a couple weeks ago, the way i got off subs was tapering down then using Tramadol. PLEASE DO NOT listen to that nonsense that tramadol is bad and you will have seizures and wd bad from it. I used it for ONLY about a little more than a week and i only took a maximum of 200mgs. you shouldnt take more than 400mgs in a day. I was on Subs for over 5 years at 8mg a day for the first 3-4 years than i eventually tapered myself down to about .2-.25mgs a day. At the end my doc was prescribing me only FIVE 2mg strips a month which always lasted me a month. So i had tramadols sitting in my bathroom from a surgery i had a long time ago. The first day i took 4 50mg tramadols at 5:30am before work. I was fine the entire day. Didnt feel sick at all but didnt feel fantastic i just felt pretty ok. The next 2 days i took i think 3 50mg trams and still felt ok. Little tired but made it through the day and was cool in work. Then the next day i took 2 50mg trams then dropped down to 1 the next day. i had 1 left after that so the alst 2 days i took a half. I can honestly say i felt little to no withdraws at all. Now everyone is different and some will disagree with me but it helped me 100000%. i have been off subs over 2 months now and would never look back. And dont listen to that nonsense that you are replacing subs with an opiate. You are using it to help you with withdraws and you will not get addicted to them nor will u have a seizure if you take them for a week or 2 and only take low doses (always under 400mg). Its just like when people are withdrawing from benzos like Xanax most Drs prescribe Valium (another benzo) to help stop benzo withdraws. Like i said it helped me and worked for me. Just dont overdo it and only do it for maximum of 2 weeks. And dont expect to get "high" from the trams and decide to take a bunch of them to try and get that opiate high because then u will be doing yourself harm and trust me you aint gonna get an opiate high from them. Just take them to help the WDs. You have to be eating them things like candy for a good amount of time at high mgs (over 400mg) to start having seizures and all that crap. i know alot will disagree with me but it worked for me and got me the hell of subs after almost 6 years on that crap. if you want more info just let me know and i will give anyone my personal email for any questions or advice. But pleaseeeee people stop listening to "horror stories" they do not help and just put more nonsense in your head. so if you have trams or can get them and you feel like u would be able or willing to try it then by all means go for it. 2 weeks on them at low doses you will be fine. you wont die and you wont get addicted to trams and u wont have seizures trust me. But make sure u taper down from subs first. Do not jump off subs at like 4mgs and start taking trams because its not gonna happen. And i never had any issues tapering down. i know alot of people say they felt sick trying to taper but i was cool tapering down. every month i tapered down almost 1-2 mgs. But i stayed at the .2-.25mg for a while almost a year so im sure that helped me big time.
Hi frankie R, There is actually a sub dr. in my area that has prescribed tramadol to some people that had trouble withdrawing from subs. A woman my gf works with was having a hard time with sub wd even after following the doctors taper so he put her on trams for about a week and she tapered down on them then was done with the whole thing.
I was going to another sub dr. at the time and asked him about this. His answer was "it,s not unheard of but he doesn,t do it" He said if someone was having difficult time he may prescribe a sleep aid but just for a few nights and something very mild for anxiety just for a couple of days.
Your 100% on the money about tapering as low as you can, it helps big time. In my opinion it,s the only way.
Hey jolter im going down to 8mgs starting tomorrow ive been down like that before and did ok so i hope i can do it again im gonna do that for 30 days then go on 6mgs for 30 days and so on till i get to .25 then im going to skip a day for 30 days then hopefully i can quit all together wish me luck. Thanks Steve
Chaz,
Congratulations!!!
That's great news. We all loved to hear about success getting off Suboxone !
I've reduced my dose by 5 mg I in the past 2 weeks. I know when I get down to the lower doses it will become more difficult, but I'm ready!!!
Keep t up!
Monkey
Thanks Monkey, I have been on it way too long with several attempts to get off and this is the furthest I have gotten. No turning back now. What really helped me is only taking a little off at a time once I got down to about 2 mg, before that I was cutting a lot but you can really afford to cut a lot more then.
That is awesome that you are lowering your dose, you can do it!! It is difficult but when I was on H there was nothing like the withdraws of that, so if you can handle that you can handle anything. My husband has been wanting me to get off this for so long, I have been on this since 2005. Anyway this is a great place for support, I was really happy that I had this site.
So none of you all tried supplements at all? I would never even attempt to get off subs without supplements! I'm jumping starting tomorrow...going to be well within 3 weeks because that's not just my faith...but also cause God Himself led me to certain supplements so that I will feel better faster and finally succeed this time.
Ur gonna be sick u should ween off a lil more. Im doin a quarter one day and a eighth the next day and I still ill if I forget to take it b4 work. I really wish I never woulda got on them it jus the governments way of makin money of addict
How did u get off suboxone please? Id like to free myself from this once and for all. Been on it for years
One strip is 8 mg, it lasts 16 days for me because I only take a 1/2 of a mg. I am actually starting to cut it even smaller than that. I hope to jump off once I get to 1/4 of a mg...then a strip will last 32 days for me. I usually cut the strip in 8 pieces and then I cut the mg pieces in half.
I hope this helps
You're not serious are you? why would you sue suboxone? We got ourselves in this situation. If we never used we would never of heard of bupe. Thats the stupidest comment I've ever seen. It is a s*** drug but what would we do without it? Still using hammer, oxy, benzo etc? Your willing to try and sue for financial gain because of the mistakes YOU made? think of what your lawyer would say. You wouldn't find anyone to take it on but if you did you would be eaten alive. You'd be better off to sue the doctor who prescribed it
Hi I live in Australia and its a VERY different system here!. Regular GP's are not allowed to prescribed Suboxone, you have to go into withdrawals from what you are addicted to (in my case I was taking the highest does of Oxy recorded in my state without dying-15 x 80mg tabs a day- I was a bigger girl so my body coped with it) for 24-36 hr's min then enter into a drug rehab program. I was put on 32mgs sub the first day , you have to go to the clinic every single day to be dosed. We by law are not even allowed to see our prescription for the drug. You have to earn the right to have a take at home dose. And you Must see your case manager once a week. It is so highly monitored,It has to be taken in front of a nurse or pharmacist. And we don't actually pay for the drug just a dispensing fee, I earnt 6 days take away doses so it cost me $15 per week. I have jumped off at 2mgs 2 days ago and feel great. I think a lot of my issue was that it was like a security blanket and I was scared to give it up,but Saturday night I got disgusted with it and just up and decided enough was enough. I had been given permission to jump any day now I just had to mentally be ready.I guess we are lucky over here, It costs nothing to see a doctor, to be treated in a hospital or have an operation the govt pays for it all. Until reading this I didn't realize how much ppl pay / suffer to get this drug and stay on it. Goodluck to all who are trying to get off it!!
Tina I'm in Southern Ca., I'm a therapist, an addiction specialist and I may be able to give you a referral to a good doc who is licensed to prescribe suboxone and will pay close attention and help you get off of it. What city are you in?
