How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 4) (Top voted first)

Updated

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

I'm not trying to keep track here, but I have been off of Suboxone for a little over a day. Been on this stuff for almost 10 years. i couldn't afford to go to the Dr. anymore and got sick of dealing with the pre approval nonsense. Made my last 30 days worth last for 4 months by cutting down which wasn't easy at first, but it did get better over time. Everyone around me, including my mom and dad, said I've been much happier while i was taking the lower doses (1 mg twice a day). So anyways, I'm not doing too badly. I have no urge to feel high what so ever or anything of the sorts. I do feel a bit sick, but nothing than a lousy cold that just doesn't want to let up. What I am having a massive problem with is my restless legs syndrome. It's very very bad. The Suboxone used to suppress this. I'm completely out of Sub and refuse to go get more. I tired an over the counter medication and melatonin for it, which then only made this worse. I can't get something from a doctor because it would take over a month to get in. I truly mean it when i say that this is my only hurdle. I'm dealing with the sickness just fine. My physical job is actually helping me deal with this, but I'm only there for 8 hours a night. I'm really only having problems at home when I try to sit still. I know that exercise can help, but I can't exercise for 16 hours everyday and then work for 8 hours. I just need to ease the restless legs bs. Any intelligent advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading and good luck to anyone else going through this. I kicked H cold turkey and made it just fine. I truly regret giving into this. I'm not going to say that Suboxone didn't help in ways, because it helped me with a lot. Like I said, this is my final hurdle.

So for 6 yrs I did both oxy's and subs. If I couldn't find one I would get the other. I always wanted to stop but just wasn't ready. Always trick myself saying just one more. Now I have realized that its time to move on. I'm 24 and have the chance to have a good career and don't want to miss out. I learned that everyone withdrawals different and that the sickness will go away but the mental part takes a lot longer. I was able to bring my dose of sub down to half of a quarter piece of a 8mg sub which is a 1/16th piece. While doing this I found that it helped to read info on different ways to help and also how other people where able to come off. Also suffered with restless legs so I took gabepintin which help alot. But in the end I believe it's all will power and you have to want it. Also I know this is hard but you can't be near anyone that abused it with you cause it makes it so easy to just do one. I feel everyone's pain. But just tell yourself you can do it. Exercise a little bit. Fluids, liquids. Read up on it cause it helps.but no matter what your just not going to magically not withdrawal if you want off you have to go thru it but it can be conquered . Good luck with everyone and I hope you can overcome this disease.

There is no possible way to get off this stuff without withdrawing....i dont care if u taper down to .000001 mg u will still have some discomfort NO MATTER WHAT! u just gotta deal with it the best you can! its gonna be hard but dont listen to all these "horror stories" all the time because EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT no matter what others went through...dont fill your head with stuff until you try it out

I,ve been addicted and gone through wds for the last 40 years. It,s why my wife and I chose never to have children. Not that we didn,t want them. If you think its right to bring a newborn into that sort of situation ON PURPOSE your just nuts. And to wish addiction on anyone is just immature.

Hi slsmakingit,

Good for you! Day 3-4 was when the wds from the subs used to start for me in the past. Too bad you didn,t have a chance to taper longer and slower. I,m sure your gonna be fine. I hate the long half life of subs. It will get better. I,ve come off them before myself. It suks but nothing like wds from other drugs.
Please post your progress if you can.
It helps a lot of other people whos going thru same thing or thinking about it.
You can do it!!!

You have to give yourself time before jumping. Take L Tyrosine Sam E and a combo vitamin b along with a regular vitamin combo everyday and eventually you will feel good enough with this combo to lower yourself. exercise everyday too

Hi slsmakingit,
Today is day 8 sub free for you if I,m fiquiring correctly. It,s hard and a lot of work but it,s really worth it. Keep it up. Your doing great!! I might have mentioned before about taking a walk. It really helps. Even for 15 minutes. It,s freezing out so dress accordingly.
I,ve read before abut vitaminB and SamE and L-Tyrosine helping with wds.
You can find them at Wallmarts or a place like that.
Keep posting, it may help also.

hey trina i feel your pain sweetie....it sucks even worse when u have to hide it from your husband or other loved ones. I didnt tell my wife for a long time (bout 2.5 years) that i was on Subs. I didnt care really if she knew that i was on Subs but i really was trying to hide the reason WHY i was on Subs. But honestly thats your husband....if he loves u and cares about u (which im sure he does) then he will stick by u 100% NO MATTER WHAT!! Dont get me wrong im not telling you to tell him im just saying from my own experience how it went for me. and honestly, an 8mg Sub strip could really last you about 2 weeks if you cut them small enough. I prefer cutting 2mg films small because even if you but an 8mg film very tiny, youll still be taking at least .5mg which i would suggest trying to drop lower than that mg before u stop.....Trina if you would like you can email me at {edited for privacy}...ill try and help you out best i can for sure!!

Hi Teairu,
Drop 1mg per week until your at 1mg.
At the end of week of 1mg drop to .5mg for week.
Drop to .25mg for week.
You may feel a little uncomfortable when you get below 2mg but thats normal.
I did this taper under a sub drs. orders. It was his plan, it wasn,t something I came up with.
He also made it clear that if I felt really uncomfortable at the end of a weekly drop to stay at that level until I my body adjusted to that dose and I felt comfortable, then drop dose.
The big thing with suboxone when it comes time to come off it is to come off as slow as you can and get to as low a dose as you can.
It helps to mark it all off on a calander.
Good Luck.

Hi Emma,
Thats fantastic your down to .25mg/day!
Are you gonna stay at that dose or are you planning on jumping off soon?
Be sure your body feels like its gotten used to .25 dose before you jump off.
For me it would take at least a week for my body to get used to any drop below 2mgs.
My old sub dr. said "the slower and lower you taper the milder the wds. will be"
I relasped since I had that sub dr.
I,ve been on sub twice. The first sub dr. didn,t have any openings the second time I tried to get straight so I went to another dr.
My insurance ran out and I just can,t afford it.
I,ve been tapering myself. I,m down to .5mg.
I,m getting older and I,m so tired of living like this.
Hang in there and don,t be a stranger.
Love to know how your doing.

Ya, Tapering slow is the only way with subs because of the long half life they have.
It takes a couple of months but the benifets outweigh the time involved.
When done slowly you can get off without the bad wds.
Sub wds in my opinion aren,t as bad as an oxy wds but they last 3-4 times longer due to the long half life.
So going slow and as low as you can is really the only way.
By the way, I didn,t experiment and come up with this.
I got this method from a sub dr.
It works but its a pain in the butt because it takes so long.

Hi slsmakingit,
Relasped myself many times. Its no big deal.
I,m trying to get straight after my last relaspe. Its all part of the addiction.
Don,t rush your tapers or do too drastic a taper.
You gotta wait until your body tells you its ok to taper again.
All that means is once you feel normal on dose your on taper a little more and wait.
Pay attention to your body, you,ll know when its time to drop dose.
Were gonna beat this thing, we all are. Just gonna take time.

Trina, I'm doing as good as I can. Today I'm trying to go without any, my legs hurt so bad, sick to my stomach, but I got to get away from this stuff. The drs. around here charge $200 for the office visit and $7.50 for one strip. It does tend to get a little expensive. Thanks for asking about me and I hope you're doing alright.
God bless you.

Fold them in half the take each side and fold to the middle. That makes it 2mg pieces. U break apart and u have 4 2 mg pieces. Fold those to make 1 mg and so on so forth. Best way to measure doses from a strip.

I have heard from alot of ppl that tapering is the way to go. Taper slow as possible. And its true if you have plenty of time and help. Im going to taper to about a .5 dose and jump. The first 36 hrs ill try and do nothing but hydrate and eat as much as possible. After that valium. Now ppl will say that thats subsisting one for another but I have no dependence on on benzos so no worry there. I was told 10 to 20 mg every 4 to 6 hrs the first few days and youll be ok and ill try it and let u know

I went to two PM doctors to help me get off Subs. I went to the second PM doctor because I didn't believe what the first PM doctor told me. Both of them wanted to put me on Opana ER and wean me down. I asked both doctors if I wasn't just replacing one narcotic for another and they both told me yes, but it is much easier to get off of the Opana ER than it is the Suboxone. They said the half-life is much shorter with Opana and after about two months of being on Opana ER, I have now went from 15 mgs. twice a day to 10 mgs. twice a day. The doctor said next month he may start me on 5 mgs, but he will determine that when he sees me again. He really has my best interest at heart, or at least I think he does. So far, so good.

Terrified blonde the dr that is giving you this sure way to get off suboxone is being honest i was offered the same exact treatment but i refused due to the fact that the reason i was put on suboxone was for being addicted to the norco but i will say this there is going to be some WITHDRAWAL symptoms they want be so severe that you cant handel them and get over them with a little willpower i know by now you know suboxone is not and does not help with pain so with that being said when you go through withdrawal one of the feelings is pain body aches and i promise you that will go away quickly do whatever makes you feel better hot bath heating pad whatever this is just temporary it will pass i have taken morphine and the norco both if you keep to his plan you will be ok a little will power and faith will get you past this im not a dr and no one on here is we can only give you our opinion and experience im in the process of trying to ween myself off the suboxone myself i dont want to do the pain medicine way it just scares the hell out of me my addiction was pain killers so i dont want to go back to that lifestyle i have been on 16mgs of suboxone for over 1.5 years and its taking me a little to do this but im not gonna give up. I hope this helped if i can help further ask if i dont know ill find out for you thanks and God bless

T-Blondie you could have very mild wd all the way to severe everyone is differentits truly hard to say but im pretty sure yours are going to be so mild your not going to realize they are wds but they could be hot and cold flashes restless legg body aches nausea vomiting feeling tiered no energy there are so many i might forget you can feel like you have the flu but with the plan your following yours are going to be very mild im sure you should start taking vitamins and doing some exercise eat foods that are healthy and give you energy im not saying that as a bs way to get you healthy i know this from experience they help with the wd symptoms the more things you do to help the better off you will be i was almost to the point that my addiction was going to kill me 25-30 pills a day and still not feeling better i had to have the pills not to be sick not to feel high. it had came to the point that i mixed so much and took so many i ended up in the hospital. my heart couldn't take any more and stopped. i am so thankful i was given a second chance i had tried to stop ween down on my own with no success the wds will overcome any willpower i did have i put myself through so much pain and sickness you wouldn't believe but that last hospital adventure got me on the right path i started the suboxone program went to two strips a day wowfrom 25-30 to 2 then i went through a outpatient program it taught me so much im still going to a after care once a week im trying to ge. Off the ssuboxone myself i just want to be totall free of everytthing i have failed twice because i was trying to cut my strips in half and go to fastit is a very slow process for me i have got to go slow i have faith in you you can do this i have faith in myself and hope im going to succeed you have nothing to worry about the dr is going to help just stay focused and keep to his plan no matter what if you feel bad tell him do as he says and your wds will be so mild you want realize till you look back and say that was easy if i can help and be supportive im here thanks and god bless
