I have not taken any drugs in two months. How can I test positive? ## Evidently you can test positive for this and other things that you have never done. I did and had never even seen fentanyl till last week when a friend of mine asked me to put this patch on her back and while I was doing it for her I just asked what it was. Well this was on Saturday and yesterday on Wednesday I had my own drug test for pain management. So now I'm worried that I could test positive for putting it on someone else? It is so unfair to be accused of something you haven't done and even worse for these doctors to be allowed to dismiss patient's on a false positive test. i have post sirgical lower back pain. was in 50 mcg pat. ch and had side effects ans so decided to wean off. i finished with the 12 mcg patch a week ago and am still suffering from peroidic nausea, irritability, daily joint and muscle pain, but the worst is the consistant restless leggs. it is driving me crazy. my doctor says that is not withdrawal. is he right? i don't think so. if it is withdrawal, what can i do about it and how long will it last? i am going crazy. ## I have used the Actiq lozenges 400 microgram, 4 times a day for over a year. My doc gave me u/a today and it came back positive for methadone. the only thing I'm on is oxycodone and fentanyl. can fentanyl cause the positive u/a of methadone? ## I just had the same thing happen to me today and I too are on the same meds as you. How much hydrocodone is equivalent to a 75mcg fentanyl patch every 48hrs? I'm trying to replace my patch with oral hydrocodone. ## With regards to medication equivalency, I feel that there is no effective way to compare Hydrocodone and Fentanyl on a milligram to microgram basis. Not only does each individual react/respond differently to the same substances, but we also have to factor in the numerous binders and fillers which affect absorption/bioavailability, the variances across each manufacturer's quality assurance, tolerance, weight, one's unique level of pain (that fluctuates intermittently throughout the day), and most importantly the route of administration (transdermal vs orally)... My husband is on a 12 mcg ratio-fentanyl patch every 3 days for pain management..I've noticed there is writing on the patch when I put it on him, & when I take it off, the writing is gone..I assume that's the way it's supposed to work.. The patches in the last box still had ALL the writing on them when I removed them, & he hasn't been feeling well for over a week or so..I opened a new box & it's doing the same thing- - writing still there..I plan to contact the company, but it's a holliday here, drugstore, doctor, all unavailable..Any ideas ?? Are fentanyl gel patches better for pain relief than transdermal patches? What pharmaceutical companies make the gel patches and what would be the better company or companies to use? Thank you very much for your help. ## I used to be on the mylan transdermal patch when I used cvs for my pharmacy but when I moved & switched to Walgreens they gave me the Actavis brand which is the gel pouch one.Walgreens uses two different brands, the Actavis gel pouch patch & I'm not sure the name of the other brand but it's the transdermal type & they even ask what yr preference is. I just saw this on the news. They were talking about the drug Fentanyl and that it's deadly just to touch it. It had A335 on it. ## It is not deadly just to touch it, however, Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic that is used to treat severe pain, so one should not take it, unless it has been prescribed by their doctor. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, dry mouth, and drowsiness. Also, it does need to be kept out of the reach of children and pets, it should not be used by those that are not opiate tolerant. I go to Hill Country pain in Fredericksburg Texas with dr. v hill I've been going there for 5 years I was taking 75mm fentanyl every 48 hours and it was working perfect I wasn't having as much pain it wasn't even asking for a change and the PA is changing my medicine without me wanting him to anyone know of another doctor . So I've got a question, but before I ask I'll give some background information: I've been on varying strengths of the Fentanyl patches for almost 10 years for a failed spinal fusion, continued chronic pain due to the fusion degenerating the discs above it, and also for Fibromyalgia. But for the last 3-4 years I've been on 75mcg changed every 48 hours and this has worked super well for me. I am currently using the brand Actavis and it has the gel reservoir. I was prescribed fentanyl patch 25 mcg but I cannot even tell I have one on. I have tried placing it on different areas of my body to see if it will absorb better but I just do not feel like I am getting any medicine. Can I cut this oxycodone 30mg pill in half (v 48/12)? I'm prescribed it for breakthrough pain along with fentanyl 75mcg that's also prescribed for chronic pain. ## This is a regular release formulation, so it ca be cut, or broken, with your doctor's approval. So, this is my situation. I was on Fentanyl 75, and oxycodone 15 for breakthrough pain.my pain stems from a bad back which led me to have three back surgeries and still have inj's. radiofrequency ablation's with not much success. I just moved back here to AZ from Colorado and saw my previous p.m. Dr. Because of Swimming I've had a couple patches falloff and even lost one in the pool. So when I went to the p.m. Dr. he wouldn't help me wean off fentanyl cause I was 10 days early on the script. Even taking my oxy 15 I had horrible withdrawals. I have had a prescription for the fentanyl patches for servere back pain 25mcg/hr, I also take xodol 10-300 mg. The patch was so much trouble to use ( not staying stuck ) I stopped using them a few months ago. But recently the pain got so bad I decided to use a few that I had left over. Not thinking about them I had a routine urine test in my doctors office. Well the fetanyl showed up. The doctor understood that it was an unintenttional error on my part since I didn't have a current prescription for them. I thought since they were prescribed to me that I could still use them. I am alergic to most but Mallinckrodt does not break my skin out and need to find a new place to buy. ## Unfortunately, no there isn't. Hey All, I was placed on the 50MG Fentanyl Patch in 2005. First told by my doctor's to change it every 3 days Then a week later I was told by a different doctor but, at the same clinic to change my patch every 48 hours. The first 2 years on the patch I did change it every 48 hours. I also was able to workout every day with it on and that helped my illness so very much to stay in shape! I applied a fentanyl patch 2 days ago - how long will it be in my urine after a single use? ## I have been going to a suboxone clinic for over a year. My husband puts on my fentanyl patches for me because i can not reach my back. He had also woke up with one of my patches stuck to his arm which came off some time when we were sleeping. He takes percocet only but when he went into take a urine test it came back positive for fentanyl and percocet. The patch that was stuck to his arm was a patch that was already on me for almost 2 days. Why would he show positive for fentanyl. He's upset with me because of that one getting stuck to him and that he has to touch them to put it on my back. My doctor changed my patch dose from every 72 to every 48 hours. 75 mcg dose. My insurance refused to allow it. I have AARP (united healthcare). For me it would have been much better as on the third day I get no relief.... ## Hello, Aaron! How are you? I am very sorry about what happened. Most insurances will not cover it being used every 2 days, instead of every 3, unless someone has intractable due to a possibly fatal condition such as stage 4 cancer. I supposedly tested positive for Fetanyl and Xanax on my first drug screen at my first appt. She says I wasn't under her care previously and she is not discharging me but I did not do either substances EVER. My pm doc prescribes Percocet 7.5 mg 3x a day. I also take Gabapentin, Zoloft, Buspar and Meloxicam and occasionally Trazodone and Flexeril. Not daily for those. I don't think it's likely that I tested positive for both of these substances and they sounded way TOO determined that I was guilty which didn't add up.
