Harley. I hope your doing better today. I have had many experiences with Fentanyl and it's good that you don't feel it. I have had some that fall off. It does take time to be absorb into your system via your pores. Please be careful with taking hot showers it tends to absorb much quicker, thus not lasting as long. I have asked the pharmacist to see if they have special cover ups for the patch while in shower. I am getting off the the medication since after a while. I felt Narco 10mq/325 worked better. Insurances doesn't really like the Patch since it's so expensive. Thank goodness I have great insurance. I know I'm off topic but I wanted to share my experiences with it. Since this post is so new. Also, it has been difficult to get off, and really is not a great experience. You wanna hear a crazy conversation that I had with my Pain Specialist. " I asked him I want to get off the patch, and I'm nervously about the whole process" he replied," I'm not a detox specialist". I was shocked and we had a few words. I won't go into that!!! LOL. Anyways. Just hope your better and healing well. Back Surg is no joke. Good Luck.
Hello, Harley! How are you?
Unfortunately, not every medication works for everyone that tries it, which is why there are usually several to choose from in any given treatment category, you can find them all listed on the relevant FDA and NIH pages. I have a friend who tried the patches, once, and they did nothing for him, either.
It can be tedious, but it's really a matter of trial and error to find out which one(s) work for you. Have you informed your doctor of the problem?
And Shannon, that is ridiculous, in my opinion. I'm not a doctor, but I know very well that most will have you do a slow taper.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.
I keep my patch on with clear bandaid. Hold a cloth over it.Don't let soap or water hit it. I keep it dry.
