False Positive Benzodiazepines (Page 7) (Top voted first)

I have been taking suboxone for almost a year and had to move to a new doc. They drug tested me and said I tested positive for benzos. The funny thing is I have not taken ANY benzos. I have to go take another test today at 5 and I am scared s**tless cuz they said if benzos are still in my system then they can not see me. Knowing that I haven't taken any benzos makes me wonder if I might still test positive for it again. I did take some cough syrup and some percs but that is it. What could cause this?

i tested positive for my PO and was prescibed perks she said it was because of that

I am in a similar situation im on methadone and have been clean for over 4 years and NEVER had a positive drug screen besides the very first one when entering the program. I have worked very hard to be where I'm at and i was so excited to be going into the next level in our program when they just told me i had to start all over because there was benzodiazepines in my system when i KNOW i haven't taken no such thing, plus my drug of choice was opiates so why would i take a benzo after 4 years at the time I'm suppose to be going up a level.....i wouldn't!!! I just wish there was a way to prove that it was wrong but nobody wants to listen and it makes me so mad and upset. So if anybody knows a good website to go in to look up the things that cause false positives i would greatly appreciate it, thank you!

I hear that. I've been at a methadone clinic for just over a year and I get 2 weeks take home. The clinic this guy is going to is screwed up. I would definitely fond a new clinic.

I am a patient at a methadone clinic and have had trouble with two different drug test in the past. One was positive for opiates and I'm pretty sure it was over the counter heartburn med. the next positive drug test was for benzos and I'm pretty sure it was cause of over the counter Benadryl. R these cheap brand of drug tests that cause false positives cause in the past at a different clinic I've takin these over the counter meds and never showed positive for these before now at the new clinic I'm at.

if you find an answer to this let me know because the exact same thing is happening to me and i have been eating cough drops for a dry throat at night.

My doc told me the only 100% accurate drug testing is blood or hair, done by a lab. If you know you're innocent then DEMAND an accurate, fool proof test.

Don't admit to anything you haven't done!

I take a b complex vitamin every day wich is b1 b2 b6 and b12 i am also on methadone for
Neroupathy and bad nerve pains in my legs i take 5 mg 3 times a day tablets and i just took drug test and it showed benzodiazapines in my urine is this possible

This really wasn't fair. I had to quit suboxone because my Dr said i have benzos in my system. I have NOT taken anything but the suboxone. I don't even like benzos. She actually called me a lyer to my face. She said she was going to fire me meaning through me out.
I psychiatrist prescribe me calonapin and when i started suboxone i told her and she said i cant take them anymore.
Anyways i always had benzos in my system even a year later. Se was makeing me go in weekly. I know why now. She would get more money by makeing people come in weekly than monthly.
I truely bealieve she edited the result page so i had to come in weekly. I quit. I couldn't handle the stress she put me through.
I went there for opiots. Never came up positive for them.
I actualy tested her, lol
I used another persons urine just to see what happened. This person was so drunk but she wont even take a pill ever.
Well anyways... results came out positive for benzos and no alcahol.
Figure that one so i know she(the Dr) is the lyer,

People if you know these results are wrong then please demand an ACCURATE test, blood or hair. If any OTC medication or otherwise has caused a FALSE positive, a blood or hair test will find the true reading, which in most of your cases seems to be negative. There's plenty of room for error, whether with faulty equipment or the ineptitude of those administering the tests and "reading" the results.

My mother, and myself, contracted our company with Child Protective Services of WV. Well when shut down due to funding we were left over with hundreds of state supplied urine analysis ten panel cups, with immediate results. Guess what, I've used my own urine, I've never done methamphetamine or pcp but i actually screened for both. Now these tests, i tested all, were faulty, maybe bad or outdated etc, but my point is these were the same ones used by the courts, probation, welfare etc. They didn't work correctly and even if they did they were insanely hard to read correctly. One actually tested me positive for all substances listed. Made me wonder how many lives were ruined. Point of story being if it's a serious situation then even pay for an accurate test yourself. ..those are hair and blood, blood being the most accurate. Even then there is always room for human error in the labatory.

Hope this gives someone the encouragement to stand up for what you know is true.

did you find out what it could be? i also failed for benzo's and have not done that in over a year, i did take aleve and benadryl , could that be it? please help i have to take another test on monday and im scared!!!! i need proof to show my doctor!!

Im not sure, but benydryl might show a benzo positive test. I found out you can buy your own test in stores, i'd do the the same time you do a urine test. I truety bealieve you didnt, because the same thing happened to me and I took nothing.

Nancy I am going through the same situation with positive benzo drug screens and have taken no medication or drugs at all. I can't sleep or think clear either. It is really hindering me. I feel your pain

My husband tested positive for benlzodiazepines on a pre employment drug screen and the man has never done any type of illegal drugs. He does take Aleve and Ibuprofen and is on Brentellix for his anxiety as well as a barbiturate for migraines. What could have caused a positive for benzodiazepines? Any help would be great!

I went to methadone clinic for first time today. same thing happened to me. I don't take nothing but opiates but before I went I took mucinex. That's all I took in over a month. opiates only. It upsets me too cause tgey told me I was lying or didn't know where my drugs were coming from. I argued from cvs only. lol

I'm very confused and nervous because a month ago I had to take my very first urine test or drug test and im 31 years old and I have 3 daughters. Something happened and I had to take a test for cps and it came up positive for benzodiazepines and I dont take those only ibuprofen so I asked her to send it to a lab and she said yes. So after a month she came back to my home and asked if I would be willing to do another test because they don't send them out anymore so I said sure because I know im clean. I have only took ibuprofen and Zantac. Im very scared and I need some answers.

Benadryl is a known cause. If you haven't done anything demand a HAIR FOLLICLE.

hello. I've had several similar problems as of late with false positive drug testing. see, I've been in opiate addiction treatment for very nearly an entire year with two relapses. I take suboxone, adderal, lyrica, propananol,lisinipril, tenex, welbutrin, prevastatin, and prilosec. I don't know what policies are about this are, but my doctor seemed okay when I listed them, but I also sometimes take citocoline, a multivitamin, pseudoephedrine, a force factor supplement called testx180, nootropics; noopept, phenibut, and sometimes adrafinil or phenylparacetam. Cycling between the nootropics. which aren't needed so much anymore. I have taken some kratom and kava kava from time to time. I have constantly been coming up as positive for benzodiazepines. And I used to be on them, horribly addicted to them and got myself into lots of trouble. I have been clean off of those for a minimum of 3 yrs. So I've come up as positive and for the first time in my life I trust my dr and he actually trusts me. well, last month I came up positive for benzos again and he asked me if I had been using them. I of course laughed and told him how I wasn't. he believed me. but he sent the test to a lab to see what was going on. this month I come back and he sits me down to inform me that those lab results came back as positive, with extremely high concentrations of hydromorphone, morphine, lortab, and tramadol. and I had a breakdown in his office telling him how wrong the test is and was. now, I've been in pain managment for nearly six yrs for my back and various other pain related problems and got addicted and have lied and done lots to pass a drug test. I know the game. I was an addict. But I haven't taken any of those things in such a long time, years even. and even in my relapse I didn't take thosw things. really. he has given me a "second" chance and I am to see him this tuesday after seeing this past tuesday. now, this program has really changed my life. even after all of these yrs I've discovered what my real problems are and were. this treatment has even got me to the point of getting off of disability and public assistance. and while I know that's A LOT of different crap I take and think what you might, it works for me. and it's better than the junkie hell I've dwelled in for 18 yrs. I couldn't have done this without his help and my family's, who are both still somehow here with me, and for me. and now my last week's test is positive for benzos again. I probably will be kicked out and this worry is ruining the new curent life I've strived so hard to start. my father, mother, wife, and kids are finally becoming proud of me. the freaking lab results came back as what used to be the ultimate cocktail of a great high to me. but not anymore. and I feel like maybe no one believes me and idk what to do. I also sometimes have taken something called focus formula. my wife likes to bake lots of stuff with poppy seeds??? I simply don't know and can't afford to lose this last and only opportunity and it simply isn't fair. I have had so many mental problems and they now seem nearly fine. I didn't take those things like hydromorphone, lortab, tramadol, and morphine. could it be the poppy seeds?? i have read they contain morphine compounds and crap related to percocet but come on!! if anyone could help me in the slightest I would be endlessly grateful and appreciative.,because he is sending the test back to be retested and says he's giving me a second chance when he usually just dismisses people. sorry for the long comment but I haven't really found anyone else to ask about all of this that will listen and might know anything. thanks everyone that helps or is supportive. it's a hard struggle that those that haven't been through it rarely understand. and addiction is everywhere in everything and doesn't always come in the form of drug abuse. and the drug abusers aren't always or even are rarely those people asleeo at the wheel with a needle hanging out of their veins. it can happen to all of us. so please be kind. have a great day.

Well ive been clean going on five years and I take suboxone and it seems like I test positive for benzos every month, I dont even like benzos. Its crazy, im beginning to think theres something im doing or eating. I dont know, I dont worry about it, cause I know. But its hard trying to explain it to someone who dont believe you.
