I want to know that how much time disulfiram releases from ESPERAL implant and where it is implanted? I also want to know the name of the manufacturer of Esperal. ## One manufacturer that I have found listed for the implants is Laboratoires Thersa in France, however, I do not know if they still make it. I also cannot discover how often or how much is released by them, nor the location they are implanted. It does not appear to be used in this manner in the U.S., so there isn't a lot of details available. Does anyone else know anything? ## I am also looking for Disulfiram implants for my husband. hi I would like to start using this drug but I am a painter and I am exposed to different kid of chemicals containing alcohol. Do you have any experience in this? Apparently you should not use even perfumes or basically anything what contains alcohol and as a painter I am exposed to a lot of fumes Thanks for you help in advance ## The main concern is alcohol, and if you are absorbing it, because it can worsen some of the side effects, according to NIH reports, which could include flushing, headache, nausea, vomiting, and flushing. Thus, I think you might be better to served to speak to your doctor about other possible treatment options. Alternatively, wearing a painter's mask may also help prevent some of the symptoms. Esperal is a microchip that checks bloodstream for alcohol and if a patient consumes alcohol and this level goes above the normal limits Esperal infuse Disulfiram in a bloodstream. #2 - don't drink while on Esperal and you will have no side effects. #3 - Disulfiram Ethanol Reaction (DER) activated by Esperal lasts for as long as 4-6 hours and can't be stopped.

I used Refusal very successful in Holland, now I am in Bosnia where they only have Esperal. Good luck, alcoholism is a very difficult disease. Be careful with implant, I heard it really has risks. my brother is being kept on disulfiram for deadddiction of alchohole. i want to know that for how long he be kept on disulfiram. our intention is he should e kept for that much long time that here after he should not turn to his old habbit of consuming alchohole. ## My suggestion is that he take it for the rest of his life. There is no harm it in. One pill a day sure beats falling off the wagon and losing friends, job, money, family, etc. There is too much to risk, and too much to gain. Stick with what works.
