I thought after the database was put into play, here in St Pete FL, things would be as they should. I can not walk and need my prescription filled, every month...ON TIME. ## Hi jaa, Sorry to hear about your situation. If you're truly unable to fill your prescription, I feel as if the doctor should get on the phone and try to vouch for you being a legitimate patient. I think that's what it's really coming down to with a lot of chronic pain patients requiring heavily controlled substances. I mean when a doctors visit is all said and done, situations concerning the legitimacy of their hand writing/script should still be their responsibility, ri...
I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis nine years ago. I've had a lamectomy, a spinal fusion, and numerous outpatient surgeries since then without success. I've been prescribed methadone HCL (30 mg every 12 hours); Valium (5 mg every 8 hours); Butalbital ((APAP-CAFF 50-300-40 every 8 hours for headaches complicated by these opiate combinations); and dilaudid (16 mg every 8 hours) since then. It is important to know that I have a high level of tolerance to these opiates. In fact, even with these prescriptions my pain score is consistently 7-8/10. As of late, surprisingly, within 15-20 minutes of taking dilaudid I experience strong heart palpitations, which go away within 20-30 minutes of deep breathing and lying down with my legs elevated. However, I'm now really worried and af...
Hello , my doctor had me on 10 mg of oxyneo for chronic pain in my arm. It's was never enough for me. Anyway , I had thyroid surgery neck dissection for cancer. My neck hurts a lot from surgery so my doctor put me on dilaudid 6mg extended release and 4 to 8 mg every 4 hours through out the day. 8 mg helps for about an hour. Should I discuss raising the extended release to 12 mg for more releif ? ## You need to tell your dr if the pain medication isn't helping the pain like it is suppose to. He is the best one to decide what changes need to be made. ## Thanks I will do that. I think if they raise my mg I should be ok. The doctor is starting me off at a low dose , then gradually move it up. Is 8 mg every 4 hours with 12 mg extended release every 12 hours a lot? Or is that dose ok?...
I need to know what class of narcotic dilaudid is in? ## I found out 1st of all, that dilaudid is a SCHEDULE 2 narcotic and not a CLASS 2. Shows how much I know about Rx drugs. Thanks for keeping me informed. I will definitely be back to this site when I have anymore questions or concerns. ## Hello, Sassie! I'm glad you saw my other post. To give you a bit more clarification for future reference all controlled substances fit somewhere in the 5 Schedules. Schedule 5 are those that aren't considered to have much addictive or abusive potential, such as narcotic cough medications or some anticonvulsants, while Schedule 1 are those that are considered severely dangerous and which have no valid medical use. But a drug class is actually the category they fall into, such as antibiotics, ...
What class of narcotic is dilaudid? ## Hello, Sassie! How are you? There are actually just drug classes, not narcotic classes, because not all medications in the various classes are narcotics. As to which one Dilaudid/Hydromorphone is in, its high potential for abuse causes it to be considered a Schedule 2 substance. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks, Verwon. I have Hep C. I go to pain management Dr. once a month to get scripts for dilaudid. Been taking meds for 4 yrs. Cronic pain in back and both knees. Need knee replacement surgerys. I'm 50 yrs. old. Was told to hold off on surgerys as long as possi...
As a result of a jack failing my left hand got caught in a coil spring that compressed when the SUV came down. Had to call 911 for help. To make a long story short my wrist was fractured and my hand and fingers were crushed. For the next few days I was given Vicodin without much relief. My BP and other vital signs confirmed it wasn't working as the Doctors had hoped it would. So, they put me on Dilaudid and it gave me much more relief from the pain and I was able to sleep somewhat better. It surely improved my vital signs. In three days I'm due to have the first of several surgeries to reconstructive my left hand. ## The reason for that is that the Dilaudid is a much stronger med. Dialudid contains Hydromorphone, no Acetaminophen or anything. So you are getting a straight, stron...
I have sever neck pain and back pain. I have had several surjurys to both. Im on a dilaudid pump plus 8 mg 3X day. Are there other ways to make the pills more effect when the pain becomes unbearable? ## I am very sorry that you're in pain. You may need a dosage adjustment, or an additional medication added. You may also want to ask about taking Tylenol with it, because it can enhance the effect of some narcotics. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
I've been prescribed to these meds for almost 3 years now. I have been taking Ms Contin for almost 7 years. In the past 4 months or so I have noticed my pain becoming significantly worse and also my Ms Contin tablets weighing less than they used to as well as tasting like salt. I take the brand name Ms Contin 100mg and 60mg from Purdue Pharma L.P. and I always have. I take brand of practically every medication I'm prescribed to, including Duragesic 100mcg and Dilaudid 8mg. I am not very happy I am back on Dilaudid again, as I was on it prior to moving around here and was taking over 2x the dose I currently am along with Actiq 1200 and 1600mcg and never found the Dilaudid to work well on my pain. The Actiq did, but only for up to an hour max. I actually asked to be taken off Acti...

From what I can find, this is listed as being a 2mg Dilaudid tablet, it contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Updatedis this the exact same as a yellow dilaudid? just different brand/generic? ## Yes, this tablet contains 4mgs of Hydromorphone, it is a generic for Dilaudid. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
19 months ago I was hospitalized for about a week with pancreatitis and was on dilaudid for the pain. After the hospital, I was on hydrocodone for about a month with the pain, then Tramidol. About 9 months ago, I was hospitalized again with pancreatitis for about 5 days, then hydrocodone for about 3 weeks. I also had repeat attacks last October (not hospitalized, on the hydrocodone fur about two weeks) and again last month (also not hospitalized, also hydrocodone). Also, docs have no idea what is causing the pancreatitis, or what triggers attacks. In between attacks, if pancreas starts acting up with pain, tylonal time released will usually take care of the pain. But ever since that initial experience, and with every other attack in the pancreatitis, every time for months afterwards, I ...
My boy friend just had his 5 knee surgery in 2 months and for at least 2 weeks of those 2 months he's been on dilaudid and oxy Will he go through with drawl? He seems very moody at times and I can't figure out why? And if I should take it personal. ## Yes, he could be experiencing some minor withdrawal effects and mood swings would typically be one of them. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
will the morphine 30 ce help with withdrawls? From dilaudid 8 mg i have been taking the dilaudid 4xA day? ## I am taking cr30 mg morphine sulfate should i take 2 since i have been on dilaudid 8 mg 4x a day I need to worj i just want to keep the withdrawls undercontroll? ## Hello, Spring2b! How are you doing? Why are you stopping the Dilaudid? I wouldn't suggest doubling up on the Morphine, without your doctor's approval. It's also going to be difficult to take enough to make it equal to the effects of the Dilaudid. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I have exstreamly bad mirgraines and ran low i dont get my refill till monday i have been tak...
I was having issue finding my Dilaudid Rx. I ran out and the pain was unbearable. (I used my Rx for Tramadol 50mg x 4-6 daily to alleviate any withdrawals. It doesn't do much for the pain.) My doc switched me to a new time released med Nucynta ER or Tapentadol. It works great. It comes in 50mg - 250mg. Equivalent for my Dilaudid 4mg x 4 was Nucynta ER 150 mg, 1 q 12 hr. but we had to work up to that dosage through titration. It says not to cut the pill and I have not tried. If you have true pain and a legal doc, try this. It is readily available at CVS, usually the 24 hour stores. I don't wake up in knots and crying in pain. I am very relieved not to have to drive to 15 different drug stores and be looked upon as a junkie/criminal to get my meds. This works for now and I'm n...
I have been prescribed and been taking Dilaudid 8MG for the past two years, ever since I switched from Oxycodone because of the trouble I had filling my prescriptions. I am prescribed it monthly, by the same doctor, and fill it at the same pharmacy. Always. Now they told me, on March 11th, that I have to wait until April 1st to have it filled. What the HELL? That's three weeks away! I need the medication to be able to WORK. Now I am stuck, because every other pharmacy i went to says they cannot fill it or they haven't carried it for a year. I specifically switched to this medication because of this problem. Now I cannot fill it? I have checked five Walgreens, four CVS', three independent stores, and am in a pickle. I will lose my job if I cannot perform the functions of my p...
Hi, my wife has rheumatoid arthritis, and she is using tramadol to kill the awful pain. Now after period of time the tramadol is not doing any thing ! Can you provide her with dilaudid so she can live comfortably ! ## No, this website does not manufacture, prescribe nor sell any medications or products. It is an information only website. Has she talked to her doctor about it? They should be able to prescribe her something that will help more.
Has anyone ever gotten dilaudid from a compound pharmacy before? I live in Florida brought my script to this pharmacy and when I picked them up they were red capsules with no markings? When I got home I googled the pharmacy and it is apparently a compound pharmacy, I just moved from New York and have never heard of such a thing? ## Hi, Dave! If you're unsure, contact the pharmacy to double check, they shouldn't have any problem with it. However, compounding pharmacies are pretty common in most large areas and major cities, especially near large hospitals. They make the medications to order according to doctor specifications, so their capsules have no markings, they aren't required to, since they aren't manufactured drugs, such as those you would receive from a regular ph...
will there be hard withdrawals for someone who injects 1 8mg dilaudad daily for 4 months? ## It really depends on the person, there are likely some people that won't, but most people probably will experience some withdrawal effects. Learn more Dilaudid details here. The severity will also depend on the person and the way their body reacts to such. Medications and withdrawal effects are highly individualized. Are there any other questions or comments? ## So honestly you might get sick but I inject my dilaudid all the time and usually blow through a g script of 90 on a week... But dilaudid withdrawal is really not that bad it only lasts like 72 hours and the symptoms peak 36 hours after your last dose. While they are intense symptoms it's really easy to get through with some Advil...
