I would strongly recommend gradually tapering down, even if it takes as long as 6 months to a year or more. Some of these medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. At the very least I would suggest making a tapering schedule on your calender, to help keep track of your progress points and where your goals are at. I think it would also help if you connect with or stay cl...
My husband has been on morphine for years. Do you t hink dilaudid would help him more. ## Hello, Whozy! How are you and your husband doing? What dosage of Morphine does he take? If it's no longer working as well, the next step up for analgesia will really depend on where he's currently at with it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
I want to know why I am sweating so much when using dilaudids. It doesn't seem like a withdrawal thing because when I wake up I will be fine but when I take them i start sweating profusely like I am almost sick. If time goes by the sweating will stop but once I take them again I start the sweating again. If anyone can tell me anything I appreciate it. ## It sounds like you are having a reaction to the medication or you are taking too much. I would advise seeing your doctor immediately. You might want to taper down to avoid withdrawals. Tramadol 50mg will help keep the withdrawals at bay. Your pain doctor should easily prescribe it. It won't help with the pain so much, but you won't be sick. ## Hello, Jeel! How are you? Flushing and sweating can be a side effect of narcotics ...
I, too, have been having a serious problem finding a pharmacy that will (or can) fill my perscription for 120 dilaudid (hydromorphone) 8mg tablets. I am in the end stages of cervical cancer that has spread too far for treatment. The doctors all say "we will keep you comfortable." My perscription was written 18 days ago and after calling a few pharmacies and realizing that would not get me any answers, I had to have someone physically take me to 24 pharmacies only to be told they don't have them at all or that the ones they get go to their regular customers and that the suppliers are only sending them a very limited quantity each month and they can't even order enough to fill my perscription at all. I have been able to fill a one week supply of the 4 mg twice but now that...

UpdatedMy brother has Stage IV lung/bone cancer and the new pain cocktail is 8 mg. dilaudid and 150 fetanyl patch plus IV dilaudid every 2 hours. He will probably be released from the hospital today or tomorrow so they have been easing off the injectable dosage and administering it oralls. The increased dosage of the oral dilaudid is causing him to vomit, which will lead to dehydration etc. What is the next best solution to solving this insidious problem of keeping his pain under control without these side effects? Thank you. ## Hello, Law! How is he doing? There is really no way to avoid the side effects, if they're going to happen, they're going to happen. Sometimes, taking the medication with food can help to minimize the nausea. The doctors may also be able to prescribe a medicatio...
How is this pain medication used for pancreatic cancer? ## I'm on Oxycodone liquid and 30 mg morphine now. This is my 3 cancer treatment. I do chemo and radiation but this pain medication is not doing me good. Do i need to ask my doctor to switch to Dilaudid? ## The correct medication name is actually Dilaudid, which may be why some where having difficulty finding information on it. It is a narcotic analgesic that contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, which means it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. In regards to cancer, it is just used to relieve pain. Johnny1, what did you end up doing? Did you find something to help? ## I have a script of dilaudid 4mg and have a hard time finding it. Where should I g...
wondering how long in your system if you have diabetes, low testerone, and hippsey ## Hi Alice, I think you may be referring to Dilaudid. The name is often misunderstood because of how it's pronounced, but it contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone; which is a pretty potent narcotic. The average estimated time frame that Dilaudid can remain detectable in your urine is anywhere from 2 to 4 days. I don't know what effect diabetes may be having on your metabolic process, however low hormone levels could also be playing a role in how long it takes your body to effectively eliminate certain substances. I hope this info helps to answer your question!
Can dilaudid help with a severe cough with chest pain. How much and can it be taken with alkaselter.if so would he be able to take it before work.thanks ## Hello, Diana! How are you? Dilaudid is a very potent narcotic, so it shouldn't be taken and mixed with other medications, unless his doctor has specifically said that it's okay to do so. But yes, it could help with the pain, I'm not sure about the cough. However, a doctor should also check out the chest pain to make sure that there isn't something serious going on. Is there anything else I can help with?
I was recently told by my Pain Management Doctor that my urine tests are coming back with a complete NEGATIVE for Dilaudid use. I am prescribed 2 Pain meds., the reason being I have collapsing spine. Its proper name is Spondylothesis and I also have severe nerve damage. I am constantly in a great deal of pain, have had 13 spinal surgeries from 1972 through 1991. Thus, the nerve damage and a bit of scar tissue thrown in. my last MRI showed 11 bulging discs in cervical, thoracic and lumbar parts of my spine. My question is what can cause a false negative on the urine test? I am prescribed 600 mg. of MS-Contin and 24 mg. of Dilaudid daily. Naturally, I have a schedule as to when I take these meds. and try to keep as close to it as possible. I must also say that I take 6 OTHER medications pr...
its a small yellow flat round pill with 'P' imprinted on one side and '4' imprinted on the other, does anyone know what this is ? ## A friend just had what sounds like the same pill. He gave it to me. It was a small, round, yellow pill with a P on one side and a 4 on the other side. I was told by my friend that it was a 4mg. Dilaudid - he said he seen the guy take it right out of the bottle labeled Dilaudid. I have seen Dilaudid's before & they have always looked basically just like this pill does - same shape & size PLUS its the same color/shape etc. as all the other 4mg. Dilaudid's I've seen. But I searched on the Internet quickly & couldn't find that exact generic imprint code - But I trust my friend. So, hang on....OK, I just got it ready ...
Do they still make the yellow 4 mg dilauded and if they do what's the nsme brand ## Hello, Kurt! How are you? Dilaudid is the brand name, the generic would be Hydromorphone. And there are several yellow 4mg tablets, so I'm not sure which one you're looking for, without knowing more information. Do you remember any other details about it?
what is delaudin used for ## it's DilauDID- it is a morphine hybrid pill that comes in 2, 4, & 8 mg pills- they state the # on one side- it's used to treat severe pain in larger doses, i had a friend with cancer who had a giant bottle of them- they bring euphoria with their pain-killing abilities- but they are very addictive. to compare them to larger-name drugs, they aren't as potent as morphine, they're between vicodin & percocet as far as effects go... ## Delaudin is 4 times as strong as morphine ## what are the side effects of deladin ## What are the side effects. ## To add some clarification to this post, I'd like to say that yes, the correct medication name is Dilaudid. It is a very potent narcotic pain medication that contains the active ingredient Hyd...
i live in spring hill. Had a Traumatic Brain Injury and broke C-1 I have been on Dilaudid for years, now I can not find any. where in Fl. can I find them. Spring Hill is in Hurnando county 40 miles north of clearwater off Rt. 19. Could some one fill me in. I Know the FDA is not helping.. ## I know I'm not in your general area, but I've heard that most people in this type of predicament have been resorting to Walgreens Mail Order or choosing to use an online pharmacy. I don't know if there are any restrictions to ordering a powerful pain medication like Dilaudid through either of these services, but I think it's worth a shot if you have the time and patience. If you do decide to order online, then I would recommend checking with sites such as PharmacyChecker, as they only...

How long after taking dilaudid is it safe to drive? I got a shot a the emergency room and I took one dilaudid by mouth at 420pm.when is it safe to drive my car? ## Hello, Tabitha! How are you? Much of it really depends on you and how the Dilaudid affects you, if it makes you drowsy or dizzy and you still feel that way, then it's not safe for you to drive. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more Dilaudid details here. You really haven't taken much of it to know how it will affect you…could you maybe have someone else do the driving?
My son as been fighting leukemia for four years. His last regimen gives him severe head aches. He'd had occasionally smoked pot for his nauseous stomach, so the pain management Doc said he refuses to prescribe any opiate. So he quit. He ended up going to the ER last night and got a 4mg push into his pic line of dilaudid. He took the pee test this afternoon and it showed clear of everything. The Doc said he must have cheated and still won't prescribe him anything. Any thoughts?

i need a pharmacy that will fill my Rx for dilaudid #8 ## why is diluadid on backorder and when will it be available in columbus, ohio? ## I'm sorry, the only thing I can guess as to why it is on backorder has to do with some recent changes made by the FDA. Some companies have been marketing unnapproved versions of these medications and they have made them remove them from the market until they undergo product quality and safety tests. This has affected many drugs on the market in the past few months. There have been several posts about this one our site, as well as many others, even nurses in hospitals have mentioned getting notifications from their pharmacies regarding a shortage. That said, I am sorry, I have no information for you on when it will be available again in ANY area. ...
I've been taking 6 /4 mg. Dilaudid for a year. I'm afraid to try and stop because I hear it's horrible. Since it's such a low dose should I be concerned about becoming violently ill ? ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone and it is a very potent narcotic. Even when you don't abuse a medication, your body does get used to having it and a sudden withdrawal with result in some withdrawal effects. These can include: nausea, diarrhea, rebound pain and severe dizziness. The best thing to do, after having taken it for so long, is to taper your dosage slowly. Your doctor can probably help you with this. Have you consulted them, yet? ## Thanks so much for getting back to me....yes I'm going to taper off. ## Verwon, please let me know (I see you answer s...
