I have been on 4 mg of diluadid 4 times a day for over 6 years now. I am having such a hard time getting from dose to dose, but my dr will not increase the dose... If anything he said eventually he will be taking me off my meds. I have become very dependent on them and will not be able to function on a daily basis without them.. ## Hello, Bridget! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're facing. Most doctors do not plan for someone to be on pain medications permanently. Usually, best practice is to help solve whatever problem is causing their pain via surgery or non-narcotic options, then taper them off of the opiates. The FDA classifies Dilaudid as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dro...

What is the exact name of this medication described above (15mg light blue pill)? Also, what is the equivalent to a 4mg dilaudid? ## Hello, Brokkli! How are you? The blue tablet with an M in a box and 15 on the opposite side is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 15mgs of Morphine in an extended release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It is equivalent to 3.75mgs of Dilaudid. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was given dilaudid a year ago for rotator cuff surgery. My physical therapy was an incredibly challenging recovery with pain meds required and the vicadin was not enough. I have some leftover 4 mg of the dilaudid. Theoretically, and statistically it is recommended to throw out all unused pain medications. I am mindful not to take it daily. I have no side effects and no desire to take it on a daily basis. I have tried clonapin and ativan for anxiety and they feel most helpful as a sleeping aid. With my occasional (2 to 4 times a week) one 4 mg dilaudid, I feel relaxed, calm and incredibly productive. But I also feel like maybe I am an addict (in denial) and need to check myself into a rehab. In all honestly I have tried anti-depressants and the anxiety meds listed above and dilaudid do...

I live in Orlando, FL and have had trouble filling my script any advise! ## I also live in Orlando and spent the last 2 days looking for pharmacies to refill my prescription for 4mg tabs. I have chronic pancreatitis and take it daily. Please help!!! ## Dear Jules, Sorry to hear about your trouble trying to fill that prescription. No matter your location, I would just encourage you to talk with your doctor about this problem filling medication he/she writes for. Perhaps your doctor can call-in the prescription to ensure that the script is verified and accounted for, putting the pharmacy in check-mode for getting it filled. If for some odd reason they refuse to fill such prescriptions, I think it would then be your doctor's duty/responsibility to write for something else that can be f...

How many should i take if I was previously prescribed 40 mg of oxycodone? (never taken these before, so need help!) ## Has your doctor provided a dosing schedule? if so, it is safest to follow their instructions. As to answering your question, I cannot get the correct information without knowing why type of Oxycodone you were taking and how often your dosage was. Were you on Oxycontin that you took twice a day? ## ok here we go i was perscribed dilaudid 4mg for my back pain that i have. I have l1-l2 compound compressd fracture's in my back and we all know that not all quacks are giving with their controlled scripts. I went through numerous doctors and pain management doctors before i found the right one who just understands my pain and writes me out a script for 90- dilaudid's p...

I was on 60 mg and within 3 months I am on 25 mg and in a week I will be on 15 mg my concern is swollen face and double chin I am very disturbed please help me get rid of it within a week as I can't take it!!!!! ## This is going to sound crazy but it helps my swelling with my dilaudid (mostly belly and ankles and feet for me). I find if I take my dose with coca cola it works better and I swell less. I am not recommending you drink alot of it. I dont drink any coffee ever so this is my only caffiene most days. Most impotantly the more water you drink the better for swelling. It helps you pee out toxins. Make sure not to overdose on water though. ## Wysolone contains the active ingredient Prednisolone and the facial swelling that you've experienced can be a normal side effect of i...

I need to know if a Dilaudid pain pill has the imprints P / 2. Orange. Round. ## Hello, Cin! How are you? Yes, there is a 2mg Dilaudid tablet that's manufactured by Purdue Pharma, they list it as being orange and having a P on one side and a 2 on the opposite. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I take oxicodone 10mg for a bad back & they just don't seam to work that well. I was told delotta is better & less sight effects. Is this true & if so, what mg of delotta should I take to be equal to OR BETTER THAN the 10mg oxicodone I'm taking now?? ## The name if this medication is often misunderstood, it's actually called Dilaudid and the active ingredient is Hydromorphone. And it is a very potent narcotic that like any other will require a doctor's prescription. However, it is slightly stronger than the Oxycodone and you'd only require 3.75mgs of it for each 10mgs of the Oxycodone. Learn more Dilaudid details here. The part about their being less side effects is not true, though, it can cause the same side effects as Oxycodone, how many you experience...

I am on 20ml of methadone and my roommate accidentally spilled the bottle. Now, I'm out of luck with my daily dose. However, he suggested taking dilaudid in order to prevent me from getting sick. The question is, how many dilaudid 2's would it take to make up the difference so I'm not sick? ## U won't withdrawal from missing 1 day, i was on methadone for a few years and i missed 3 days b4 without any opiates and was fine. It's after the 3rd or 4th day u will start feeling it ## I've been on 100mgs of methadone daily for 10+yrs & don't let anyone LIE & say u won't have any withdrawal symptoms of only 1 day missed of methadone that ur body is "used" to EVERYDAY b/c u will. However they won't be severe. Ull make it even though u will expe...

my mother had a bypass which went well, she is now in a care facility due to a severe bed sore due to a hospital stay. they have had her in bed and druged up for 5 months now. we have switched facilities and doctors. the sores are getting better now but she is on the pain patch fentanyl now and seems out of her mind. dilaudid just keeps her knocked out if used to much. we had her off morphine since it was doing the same as this fentanyl. it is so hard getting a doctor that will listen! they seem like they just want to drug people and let them die instead of getting them well. what medicine will work for someone with severe arthritis pain due to no movement. dilaudid has been the only thing we have seen that doesn't make her crazy and help a little with the pain. is there anything el...

I get 300 2 mg dilaudid per month for non-healing lower leg wounds. They are extremely painful during bandage changes. Does that seem like an awful lot of pills? I've been taking them for about 7 years a d it seems that's the only thing that helps. My dose was upped this month. Can I get this new prescription filled now or do I have to wait? I live in Maryland. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? As to getting it filled, you'll need to check with your pharmacy. In some cases, since this is a controlled substance, they'll have you just up your dosage with the existing pills you have and then pick up the new prescription, once they are finished. To some it would seem like an awful lot of pills, yes, but the necessary amount for pain relief can vary from person to person, so what ...

Does the drug manufacturer Knoll still make Dilaudid 4mg tablets? ## Hello, Lucky! How are you? No, this company no longer exists. I have been in mmt successfully for a year. Last Wednesday I took 4 mg dilaudid. Idk why...I guess I just wanted to see if anything would happen. I have taken nothing but methadone for the entire year. Anyway, today, Monday, I had a urine screen. If I come up dirty I lose every take home I've earned. What are the chances it's out of my system? I took the dilaudid Wednesday at 5pm and drug tested Monday at 6am. I'm so disappointed in myself but if I make it over this hump it will never happen again. Well, even if I don't make it over the hump it still won't happen again. Thanks for any feedback.

16 hours post op. Wondering if I can safely take dilaudid and Tylenol 3's. Not at the same time but every 3 hours or so as both are prescribed every 4-6 hours. For example, a dilaudid at noon a t3 at 3:00 pm another dilaudid at 6pm and so on. ## Hello, Ganeen! How are you? Yes, you can do that, as long as your doctor approaches, you'd just be staggering when you take each one. The FDA classifies Dilaudid as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
