Hi i have early eye damage due to diabetis and am quite scared. Can anyone tell me the truth. what are the chances of going blind thanks ## I really don't think there's any way for anyone to tell you your chances, most doctors can't even really give you a definitive answers to such a question. There are many factors that are going to play a role, such as your seeing a doctor to correct and arrest the damage, before it gets worse. Myself aged 43 years & mother aged 75 years are having fasting sugar of ~125 and post food ~225. Advised Glycomet 250mg twice a day. Have few queries listed. 1. Would like to know what and how the medicine works related to sugar complaint. 2. What are all the side effects and how to minimize this? 3. i m taking zoryl m1 tablet . please let me know the when to take these tablets that is with or without food / breakfast. If without food / breakfast, what should be the reasonable interval between food/breakfast & medicine intake. ## Zoryl M1 contains Metformin and Glimepiride, both of which are oral antidiabetic medications that are used to help lower and control blood sugar. Normally, they are taken on an empty stomach, just before a meal, with a full 8 ounce glass of water, that way they have time to start working to control your blood sugar, by the time you have finished eating. Is IC Glimepride the same as Glimepride ## Yes, it is the same, the IC just refers to the manufacturer of that specific one. Some companies do, it's seen a lot with Canadian medications for example, you'll see something listed as APO Metformin, or something similar. What are the differences in Glycomet GP1 Forte and Glycomet GP2 Forte? ## They both contain Metformin and Glimepiride, however, the difference is in the dosage of the Glimepiride in them. Aside from the 500mgs of Metformin, the GP1 contains 1mg of the Glimepiride and the GP2 contains 2mgs of it. These are both oral antidiabetic medications, that may cause side effects such as: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. My dog is being prescribed this by the vet but I couldn't get a straight answer as to why. Google keeps changing the search to metaclopromide or chlopropmide I just want to know if it will effect his heart as he has a very bad murmer ## Unfortunately, the information on this site and my own knowledge, is only pertinent to the use of medications in humans, so I really don't know what effect it may have on a canine. Did you try asking the vet about side effects? If you're paying for it, you also have a right to know why you are expected to give it to your dog. It may be that the correct name is Chlopropamide, if your dog has diabetes. Has the vet ever mentioned that to you?

please help! I have been on Metformin since March2010 500mg 3 x daily and I am really not getting on with it....I have perservered and GP offered me Glucophage 750mg twice daly but the pills were so big I couldnt swallow them (never been able to swallow tablets and struggle to swallow metformin) My diabetes came after chemotherapy, I had bowel cancer and was one of the very lucky ones and had anterior resection and all was successful. Ive also had IBS for 30 years and told after op that I would still have it...great after all that lol....I also have intolerances etc which are very much under control...so Im a real mixed bag! My Oncologist and Consultant have told me I must change from metformin and I must tell my GP...I would like to know what I can ask for that I could swallow because ...

Hi Round unmarket pill, susposed to be metformin by Actavis, but I thought all pills had identity markings on them ## Hi John, I don't know if this applies to where you are from, but U.S. law requires that all prescription drugs have unique letters or numbers (sometimes in addition to a logo of some kind) imprinted on the tablets or capsules so the medication can be identified by manufacturer, substance and dosage. As far as I know, there are quite a few "non-prescription" pills and supplement pills that aren't required to have an imprint. Is this something you ordered online or got without a prescription? Because, both are used to help with blood sugar, but aren't intended as weight loss medications. The stomach pain and gassy bloating may be side effects to these medications, but you should double check with your doctor. As to losing weight? Are you exercising and watching your diet?

Controlling your diet and getting proper exercise, as approved by your doctor, are really the only safe ways to do so. it can be difficult for diabetics to lose weight, what type of foods do you usually eat?

A few days back, I had a heavy feeling below and could not urinate. Terrified, I got a catheter installed, but surprisingly very little urine resulted. The doctor prescribed Leon 500 and Alfoo 10mg and advised sugar testing, Ultra Sound and routine urine test. Ultrasound was clear, In urine sugar was 300, RBC micro examination was Full Field. Then referred to M opd where blood sugar fasting & Hb1aC were prescribed. Gemcal & CAAT were given. Random sugar was 242, fasting was 151, HbA1C 9.8. Now the doctor has prescribed gemcal forte and CAAT 10mg. What I want to know, Should I go for second opinion? whether the gemcal forte is for diabetes (whereas on internet it does not say so). When asked to the doctor he said it is. Please give your opinion.

I am a diabetic and hypertension patient for the last 20 years. My glucose fluctuates from 45mg to 500mg. I am taking 3 Insulin injections daily. My doctor feels it may be due to tension and depression and has prescribed "clonotril-0.5" to help me get relief from the depression. I am afraid by taking this medicine that my glucose is getting too low while sleeping. Please advise whether I should take this medicine and whether it has any side effect?
