i started taking metformin SR in may 12, replacing the IR tablets, having suffered for years with side affects for years. in june when i had my next blood test my platelet count was down to 1300, haveing been normal previously, it seems strange that on taking the slow release tabs i have platelet reduction, can the slow release tablets be having an effect on my platelets. any one able to help please. ## Yes, it may be due to the Metformin, though it likely would have happened regardless of which formulation you were taking, since it has been known to cause it in some people that take it. Learn more Metformin details here. It could even just be that the current dosage is too hight for you, because that can also be an overdose symptom. What have you been advised? this is a round medium sized pill and looks like this GP 12 v ## Based on the description provided, the closest match I'm finding is a round white pill imprinted with GP 127. The placement of the "7" could make it look like an upside down "v". I noticed you put a "v" in your description of the pill so I'm thinking this has to be it. GP 127 is identified as Metformin hydrochloride 850 mg. Manufacturer: Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Inc. National Drug Code (NDC): 00781-5051 Learn More: Metformin Details If you have any more questions or comments to add, please post back so I can further assist you.

How long do you keep a patch on someones backside for an ucler with diabetes ## Each one is usually left on for about 3 to 4 days. There's no real precise time frame given for the DuoDerm patch, but that's the general approximate. It really depends on the moisture of the wound itself. Learn more DuoDerm details here. Were you provided with any instructions? ## No Iwas not. I found that strange.

Can someone tell me how often your creatine levels should be checked while taking this drug? Thank You! ## Metformin Extended Release/ CAUSES SEVER SLEEPLESS NESS --doc's MANUFACTURERs PL GIVE SOLUTION ## Hi Mary, Are you referring to creatinine? From what I could gather, all patients on Metformin should have their kidney function measured "annually" with a creatinine test. I assume that this test provides you with information about your current creatinine levels, however I could be wrong so make sure to double check with your doctor first. I hope this info helps! ## Thank You for the information. I get my blood work done next month.

I AM USING GLYCIPHAGE 500 MG TWICE DAILY. BUT SUGAR LEVEL AT PP WAS ABOUT 150. DOCTOR PRECRIBED Pioglit 15 Mg ONCE IN DAILY AFTER BREAKFAST ALING WITH SAID GLYCIPHAGE 500 MG . NOW THE LEVEL AT PP IS 133. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REDUCE OR STOP SAID TABLETS OR REDUCE THE TABLET TO ONE ONLY BECAUSE SWALLOWING OF TABLET IS DIFFICULT FOR ME ## I wouldn't suggest cutting out a medication, or reducing your dosage, without consulting with your doctor. Diabetes can cause serious health problems, if it is not controlled and just because your levels have gone down, using the medication, doesn't mean they are going to stay down, once you stop using it. If they are not time released tablets, it may be possible to crush them, or cut them in half, to make them easier to swallow, however, please chec...

I am confused as to why doctors are pushing byetta when it can cause major problems with pancreas and also kidneys and maybe thyroid cancer (in mice) ? It seems to me I am better off using short term insulin and not dealing with all the other issues. ## Many doctors today are only pushing drugs that are covered by insurance companies and nothing else, and I think it is because this is how doctor's make their money. If you even mention to them an alternative that works just as well or better, it's as if you're speaking another language, since it doesn't put any more money in their pocket. There has been scientific evidence for a quite a while now, demonstrating how Diabetes type 2 is caused by an excess of fat in the bloodstream, which then causes unstable blood glucose l...

is it pedivit forte capsule can be use to cure diabetes? ## There is no cure for diabetes. If you have it, it is a condition that you will have to carefully manage for the rest of your life. There are medications that can help, along with diet and lifestyle changes, but it will never be cured and will never go away. Pedicit Forte is just a multivitamin nutritional supplement, so it isn't going to cure diabetes, nor will it control your blood sugar to help manage it. Learn more vitamin details here. are there any small diabetic pills or powders or liquids for people who have difficulty swallowing large pills? ## Not to sway off-topic or anything but if you have type-2 Diabetes, have you ever been aware that it can actually be reversed and cured by changing your diet? There has been scientific evidence for a while now, demonstrating how Diabetes type 2 is caused by an excess of fat in the bloodstream, which then causes unstable blood glucose levels, an over-production of insulin,
and an over-working of the pancreas. The simple approach that is suggested is to eat a very low fat diet that is high in "natural" sugar and moderate amounts of protein. This ideally comes from eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, with the occasional nuts and seeds. I wou...

i have been taking meformin for a month and i have headach all the time is rhere anything i can do or take to stope the headach ## To answer your first question regarding "What is Metformin"; Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood. As far as the ...
