Mom told me there is a new medication for Diabetes that will cause weightloss. Metformin did help me lose 50 pounds but now I am stuck. Even with riding my bike for exercise I am stuck at 175. Help me find the name of this new drug please...thanks in advance for your help. ## I'm sorry, but I am just really not sure which medication you're asking about. There are quite a few antidiabetic medications on the market. Can you try to ask your mother more details, such as the name, or where and when she heard about it? As to the exercise, yes, you will get stuck if you always do the same thing. Your body will adjust and get used to any regular routine, so it will become less effective. Both with dieting and exercise, you have to shake things up, once in awhile, to keep things moving. ...

I had my prescription filled and it says 500mg er tab amne, underneath was typed substituted for metformin 500 mg er tab wats, what's the difference ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Sorry about the confusion, pharmacies should really be a bit more precise, but I'm happy to clear this up for you. :-) The only difference is the manufacturer, the original one was manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals, which is what the wats stands for and the new one is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, as designated by the amne. Rather than saying it's a substitute, they should really have just put a notice on it that it is the same medication, but may look different than that which you'd received before. I'm a diabetes type 2 patient. I'm taking Insulin twice a day and Janumet three times a week. My blood sugar level is around 150, but there is no sign of improvement. Anything sweet, including fruits, will elevated your blood sugar, even regular foods do so, but not as much as the sweets. And how much fat is in the foods you eat? Fat coats the cells, so sugars can't enter the cell wall to be burned for energy. That causes them to remain in your blood stream elevating your sugar levels, as well. I am willing to try anything that might help with the feet & leg pain, my arms & hand pain I am having. Also in my joints. Feels like my nerves, tendons, muscles, are like a rubber band, and being twisted at both ends, until so tight they could pop at any time. The pain gets so bad when I am asleep it wakes me up screaming, running, kicking, then can't find anything then to take for the pain, to relieve just enough to allow me to go back to sleep. But, it wouldn't allow me any relief enough to get back to sleep. I would like to join the Research Team, to see if Metanx will help me. ## Hello, Polly! Sorry about the pain that you're in. She should be eating more vegetables and whole grains. Does she get regular exercise? That is also a very important fact...

I am a diabetic since 1989. Since last three months, my left eye is closed, the upper eye lid is not functioning. I was under the drug i.e; Methacom-L(prescribed by an opthalmist) , and it is improving now. One of my friend who is also suffering from the same problem, is under the supervision of a neuro medicine doctor. The neuro doctor prescribed him Felcita OD. 1. What's the difference between Methacon L & Felicita OD. Can I use Felicita OD in lieu of methacon- L ## Both of them are just nutritional supplements, not actual drugs, so they aren't actually proven to treat or cure anything, other than a deficiency in one of the vital nutrients they contain. I started using metformin last year due to PCOS, I became insulin resistant. Hot flashes, nausea, headaches, diarrhea(if I eat the wrong things) and sleepiness at times have been the side effects that I've experienced. I take 500 mg daily and I would hate to stop taking them because they have assisted in helping me manage my weight. I was wearing anywhere between a size 6 and 8 before I became insulin resistant but when I began to gain weight I went up to a size 14 and exercise/healthy eating was helping very little. Since I've been on the metformin I have dropped down to a size 10 and of course it takes consistently working hard at it and eating right. Are there other alternatives to keep the insulin levels in control so that I can continue to lose weight if I stop taking the m...
