Hi all, I don't have diabetes, however I read that there's a lot of evidence that Metformin can slow the aging process as mentioned in this article among others: newsweek.com/diabetes-drug-could-be-anti-aging-miracle-404370?rx=us I was wondering if there is anyone here who takes Metformin for this reason? There's a 6 year study due to begin soon to look into the anti aging effects on elderly people, but I really don't want to wait 6 years for the results! I've read about a possible side effect of stomach upset while your body adjusts to it, but it seems like its safe and very cheap. So I feel why not start taking it. I don't think I'd be able to get it on prescription though, as I do not have diabetes and its currently only licensed to treat that particular c...

Small Round White pill. side A: either M/M or W/W. with a bold arrow or V on back side ## Hi adrianna, From what I've read, the pill you have may be Metformin (500 mg). However I am having a hard time finding pertinent information to back up the claims. Based on the logo, this pill is very likely manufactured by Cobalt pharmaceuticals in Canada. If you google "Cobalt pharmaceuticals logo" you should be able to confirm that. Just in case the pill you have is Metformin, I'll provide some information about the medication below: Metformin is an oral antidiabetic drug in the biguanide class. It is the first-line drug of choice for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, in particular, in overweight and obese people and those with normal kidney function. Its use in gestational diabe...

taken instead of foloc acid ## I went to my doctor complaining of pain in my left leg and hip. I was diagnoised with a compressed nerve in my spine. I'm am scheduled for an MRI in 4 days. In the meantime I've been perscribed METANX TABLET PAM for Neuropathy, and GABAPENTIN 300 MG CAPSULE APO for leg pain. My insurance company will not pay for the METANX. MY question is Is METANX just a bunch of vitimins and not considered a drug by the insurance companies? Also what is the chance of this product doing anymore for me than over the counter vitamins that I could probably better afford? ## It is best to speak with your doctor about it, there may be a specific reason they want you to take these ones. My mother was dx in March 2015 with congestive heart failure. She originally had a double heart valve replacement (May 2011) for her mitral and aortic valves. It seemed ever since she was sick (before the endocarditis dx) that her immune system was compromised greatly. My mom was taken to a regular dr appt. August 6th and my dad and her found out coumadin levels were off the charts. They rushed my mom to the hospital 25 miles away and immediately put her on the Medical ICU floor. When they came into her room to start running diagnostics and everything one of the infectious disease doctors told my dad and I that Metformin has been known to cause death. (My mom was still with us at this time, but we found that she was in septic shock and multiple organ failure!) She passed just 24 hours a...

I take Metanx as a supplement with Methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis. Is Metanx necessary when taking Methotrexate? ## Hello, Traci! How are you? No, it's not really necessary. It is actually classified by the FDA as a medical food, basically it's a supplement that contains nutrients that are believed to support nerve health and function. It's only typical side effect is nausea, due to the potency. Are you having a problem with it? ## Hello Verwon. Thank you for responding to my question. I am not having any problems with taking it. It is just very expensive! My prescription insurance doesn't cover it...30-day supply--$78.

I am seeking help in finding a good physician, either pain specialty, internal or general medicine, for my husband. I have searched online for hours, day after day and just cannot make heads or tails with all of the controversy about opioids. We need help. My husband and I moved here (Houston suburb) this year, leaving behind his PCP of 8 yrs. She handled every issue including intractable pain stemming from back surgery. Being diabetic with nerve pain and hypertensive, well around we go... Pain causes his BP to rise which in turn causes more problems. He has been under VA care but the process is ridiculously slow. I am becoming concerned over his quality of life as the change is significant. We have records, imaging, medication history, etc. Any and all help would be so appreciated.

I am a diabetic with kidney issues. I know I am not supposed to take ibprofin as it harms my kidney. I can take tylinol but need something stronger for pain. would oxycocet 5 325 mg be safe to use? ## Hello, Dink! How are you? Only your doctor can help you decide what would be safe for you to take. Oxycocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are you on another medications? That could also be a factor.

I've just been prescribed metanx for diabetic neuropathy and want to be sure there are not any interactions with lyrica or antibiotics. ## @dizzimom, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between Metanx and Lyrica. However in order to determine if an antibiotic is ok, you'd need to know the specific name, because not all antibiotics are created equal. At least not in my experience, having tried several different types. I will say though, that a common antibiotic such as Amoxicllin didn't list any particular drug interactions with Metanx when I ran a search. Hope this helps! ## is amoxicilin can interact with diane 35?tanx

Should I start again? ## Hello, Karan! How are you? This is just a nutritional supplement that contains a complex of vitamins that are believed to support nerve health. I'm sorry about the problems you're having. Metanx is just classified by the FDA as a medical food which contains nutrients that support nerve health. Thus, it may help, but there's no way to know for sure until you try it. The only known side effect listed is nausea due to its potency.
