Day 1 Of Xulane Instead Of Ortho Evra (Page 8)

Updated

I HATE this new patch already. Did not adhere to my skin as easily as ortho and came off about 4 hours after applying. I've been on ortho evra for 5 months loved it and never once had a problem but I already can't stand xulane and so I don't know what I'm going to do ! :( My insurance switched me to xulane because it's the generic brand to ortho evra. This sucks I hate life. Ps. I'm 18

PLEASE HELP! I know it's about a 15 minute phone call but please call the company who makes Xulane and explain of all symptoms. 800-848-0461. They said when I called that more people needed to call for them to look into it!

Im 21 and ive never had crazy acne, break outs every now and then but i woke up one day on my second week and my whole entire forehead was broken out, ive never ever seen my skin do this. My body is noy reacting well with this patch, ive never in my life spotted in between periods and i did for a week straight. Im sick to my stomach and my body feels hot (im alway cold) i read that it can make your blood pressure go up and i think thats why im having the hot issues. Not not not putting another patch on!

You sound stupid and ignorant with your comment.
Many people don't use the patch just for birth control purposes, and it doesn't mean everyone will experience the same side effects. Perhaps you should educate yourself before posting such inflammatory comments.

I was switched to Xulane and was fine until the fifth month. I started my period a week early (while on my third patch). I had never had any problems with ortho evra which I had been on for five years. Now my cycle is all messed up. This is so frustrating.

I'm 27yo, I have a 6yo and a boyfriend. I have used other birth control methods: the pill and depo. I started using the patch last year and it was the only one I got really comfortable. Hardly any mood swings, my monthly period started regularly again, no acne, no weight gain, no bleeding etc. It was everything, I can barely tell I'm on birth control or that I have a patch on. Dream come true! Then January of this year, I picked up my patch and when I got home it looked different, I realized it's a generic version. I was on auto refill so I dint look before I left the pharmacy but I still used it and gave it a chance. I turned into a monster, my mood swings were up and I hated the world. That's prolly an exaggeration but still, I hated it. It wasn't the same as Ortho Evra. The pharmacy and my ob then told me it's being discontinued. Now I'm in the search for other options. I'm glad I'm not the only one bummed about this. I wish there will be another Ortho Evra for us.

Hey everyone. I'm reading all of your comments and it is making me really sad that half of you are still using XULANE. This horrible form of BC has to go. I am telling you, please stop using it and or please don't even think about getting it. The FDA approves generic to be the "same" as the brand name as long as it's within 75-110% within the same ingredients. Are you kidding me? 75% is like a whole new form of medicine. I've never in my life experienced such horrible symptoms! Bloating, extreme shortness of breath, and last but not least high anxiety! I mean it still affects me till this day even after I stopped using it like 5 months ago! I am now on Nuva Ring and I am satisfied. Either switch your BC or don't use it at all because having a child is WAY better than killing yourself slowly. And I would love to be included in this legal suit!

Is it normal to bleed for one day on this patch? Also it it normal to have vaginal discomfort with cramping in and off? Only been on xulane for a week.

I'm on the xulane patch and having trouble with it sticking. Directions say it wont come off in the water but it does. Also it sticks to my clothing and when I'm trying to get it unstuck it feels like it's ripping of my skin. I'm allergic to the adhesive on the patch! Should i try to keep using or be done with it? Started it this year i am 25 yrs old.

I'm on the beginning on Month 2 with Xulane and its the first birth control I've used so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm breaking out, and have been on my period/spotting excessively for a full 30 days now. I don't think it's normal..

I truly understand what you're going through. I used Ortho Evra until I was switched to Xulane. I absolutely hate it!!!, because it is not effective at all and I have to use a band aid over it just to get it to stay on for the week. My insurance won't cover Ortho Evra, but I am desperate and therefore, will foot the bill myself. Can't wait to get it and see if it works ---- it should because it's brand name, if not, I certainly won't be any worse off ;-)

Hi girls ao i posted on this before when i was first switched to xulane from ortho and i hated it, i was on other birth control and it didn't work so i got back to it because ORTHO EVRA IS DISCONTINUED so i have mastered the applying technique and this is my second time on it and is qorking well for me is not as bad as the first time, in fact im feeling ok and what i do to apply it is firat of all do not use it down your belly because it will stick to your underwear i always put it on my arms or back and put the patch then press it for about 2 mins firmly and making sure the edges are well "sticked" to your skin. I hope it helps mines dont come off until i remove them myself

My insurance of course won't cover it, so I'll have to foot the bill. It's expensive, but I'm desperate, because I enjoyed using Ortho Evra so much.

It was discontinued so you can't even pay out of pocket anymore

My wife took ortho evra no problems..

I just got off phone with several major pharmacy chains and they claim ortho evra was discontinued by the manufacturer...

So we are all screwed....

Xulane is here to stay, sad to say... I want ortho evra back, since it was the only thing that work best...

I'm 31 and here are my pros and cons about xulene:

Pro
Smaller than ortho patch

Con
Spotting
Adhesive sucks and it lifts around the edges more
The walking advertisement you've become as XULANE is printed all over the exterior of the patch

Hey! I also started Xulane not too long ago, about a month if i remember correctly, but when i first started using it i noticed that it would sort of peel at the edges so i started putting medical tape on the top of it and usually if you use the good kind of tape, it remains on for the entire week! Through showers and all, but i don't know if I've had any different side effects from it other than the ones i have had so far, which is extreme nausea. The second week i also started passing large blood clots, which really scares me, along with the cramping and dizziness. So for that reason i am discontinuing this form of contraceptive. Best luck to you

I was on the Ortho Evra patch for a good three years and absolutely loved it. I never had mood swings, never got acne, my period was regular and I didn't get fat. Within a month of being automatically switched to Xulane (curse you Obamacare), my boyfriend was begging me to get off it. I hated the world and had the same problems with keeping it on my skin. I went months trying to get my Ortho Evra back only to find out it's discontinued. I'm so depressed. I want it back!!!!!!
