Does anyone know the possible MEDICAL cause of the pain. Is the colesevelam preventing the uptake or processing of some other nutrient that is causing these cramps? Does anyone know of any remedies that get at the CAUSE (ie, is it a vitamin or other lipid I am not absorbing correctly?). I know I can just take tylenol or something, but I don't want to be on those pain killers every day as they cause other problems as we all know. Welchol works to stop the intestinal issues (gall bladder removed). But the pain in my feet is debilitating. ## Actually, this medication has been known to cause general myalgia as a side effect, according to the FDA, along with headache, flatulence, constipation and abdominal pain. Thus, a pain reliever may be your only option. Have you consulted your docto...
Taking 135 mg per day - got cough, cold, sneezing and sore throat. Seems I noticed ED also - I stopped the medicine - I am looking for a better alternative. ## Hello, Sam! How are you? Unfortunately, this is usually the best choice that causes the least amount of side effects. The other options are statin medications, which tend to cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches, as listed by the FDA. How long were you taking it?
I had been taking 135mg Trilipix for several years, before being prescribed Fenofibric acid. Now, I have been informed by my Medicare Part D, ( for prescription meds ) provider that, beginning January 1, 2015, Fenofibric acid will no longer be on their formulary, and that I either must find a suitable substitute, or stop taking the medication altogether...OR, find a different Part D provider. The latter is not really an alternative for me, only due to the fact that my provider carries every other medication that I am prescribed, ( 17 of them altogether ), in their formulary. At the present time, I have not asked my primary care physician about a suitable substitue. WHY should I? From everything that I have been reading about Fenofibric acid, OR Trilipix, one should not be taking the med...

Thanks. ## Hello, Louise! How are you? Have you had any other symptoms, such as pain or headache, or just the feeling of pressure? You can experience some withdrawal effects from stopping cold turkey, including rebound elevated cholesterol and possible blockages, as explained by the FDA. Hi, I came off atorvastatin cold turkey 15 days ago. 12 days ago I started with this immense pressure in my head and face. It only goes away when I lay down and I've not got blurred vision. Is this a withdrawel effect? Thanks. ## Hello, Louise! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. It would be best to consult your doctor. When you stop such a medication cold turkey, there is a risk of developing blockages or clots, which could be causing the problem. It's best to have this checked out for your safety. I have been taking Simvastatin for a few years now and would like to know if the following could be side effects: Increased salivation - if my mouth is open and my head forward, I sometimes dribble which is quite embarrassing (I'm only 63!) Quivery thumbs - that my doctor diagnosed as essential tremor but reading up on that suggests that the tremor occurs when using force - mine occurs when I'm relaxed or even sleeping according to my husband! Disturbed sleep - I get too warm in bed and that wakes me, as well as needing the loo, but in general I seem unable to sleep for more that 3 hours without a disturbance, and in the early mornings if I wake and look at the clock I'm relieved if it's a reasonable time to get up - I get fed up of being in bed but not being asleep. Any...
I have always had normal cholesterol but a year ago was diagnosed with a 40 percent blockage of carotid artery. I started taking atorvastatin 20 mg and this past March my new doc raised it to 40 mg. A month ago I started getting joint pain all over. My internist ran blood tests and I was negative for Lyme and RA. However, blood tests showed some indication I have inflammation possibly related to some form of arthritis. I will be seeing a rheumatologist very soon. Could atorvastatin be the cause? ## Hello, Isabel! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. And yes, these statin medications are very well known for causing joint and muscle pain as a side effect. In some cases, it's been so severe that the people had to stop taking the medication. This is suppose to be great for cholesterol , high b/p & many other compliants. Can this really be true? ## Hi Mavis, I believe it can be true. To my knowledge, the purple pigments (as well as other colors) in fresh fruits/veggies/grains/etc are a sign of high antioxidants + polyphenols that are good for heart health, blood, and a host of other bodily functions. Some rice is also higher in magnesium, which can lower blood pressure. So while I may not be able to attest to the claims of "Anti-glycation micronized purple rice", I am aware of the multitude of health benefits contained in nutrient dense foods/superfoods... My go to rice has always been organic "black forbidden rice" sourced from the Himalayan mountain regions, which turns the water purple when you steam i...

If you are on fenofibrate, do you have to be on it all your life? ## Not necessarily! Some people do manage to lower their cholesterol levels successfully and keep them low, via healthy diet and exercise, so they are then able to stop such medications. It can vary from person to person and may include such factors as how high their cholesterol has gone. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for the info. My Doctor told me that I would have to be on it for life even if my levels dropped.
I recently received a bottle of Atorvastatin from my pharmacy and it wreaks of the smell of alcohol. I thought it might be the medicine bottle so I put them in a different bottle and they still smell awful. I can also taste the alcohol. I take other meds and I do not taste or smell that anywhere else. I brought it back to the pharmacy and the pharmacist said he couldn't smell anything. I have since had others smell the medicine and they also smell that strong odor of alcohol. Either the pharmacist was lying to me or he had no sense of smell. I would say at least 20 people here at my home have smelled my atorvastatin and they all say they smell alcohol like the kind used for cleansing the skin before a shot. This batch was from Sandoz. 80mg Date filled 11/22/14 I cut them in half to ...
