I have received at least four Jevtana infusions and my onconologist is letting me rest now. I have many of the side effects listed, but the most disconcerting is the shortness of breath and fatigue. I can only walk a few feet or be involved in minimal exertion and I am gasping for air. I use pursed-lip breathing which helps. I have advanced prostate cancer with bone metastases. Does anyone know when the the "shortness of breath" episodes will end after no longer infusing Jevtana over a period of months? Thank you for your response. ## Has your Oncologist given you any ideas on how long it may last? The information available in these medications is usually very limited and this one is not exception, as you can see here: ## Verwon, I saw my medical oncologist yesterday (4/11/2012)...
ROUND YELLOW PILL WITH LINE IN THE MIDDLE NO OTHER IMPRINTS SUBPOSE TO BE METHOTREXATE REMTREX 2.5 MG DOES THAT SEEM RIGHT? ORDERED IT SO WANT TO BE SURE THATS WHAT IT REALLY IS. ## It's hard to say what's right, since there are no markings. I did find images of Remetrex that show the name brand ones are white, or yellow with just a score mark, but I can't say whether or not that's what you've received. Have you tried double checking with the place you ordered from?
I had shingles for 3 months. I am still in pain. Anybody have information on this virus? Thanks ## Shingles is caused by the Herpes Zoster virus, not the same as the that which causes the STD, or cold sores. It is generally caused by an initial infection with the Varicella Zoster virus, which causes Chicken Pox, because it never really leaves the body, but remains dormant. Unfortunately, both it and its symptoms can linger for some time and it is also possible that it may recur, though that occurs more often in the elderly. Antiviral drugs can sometimes help lessen the duration and severity. You can learn more about it here: Has your doctor suggested any possible treatment options to help manage the symptoms?
just started zytiga, along with prednisone, 50 mg of casodex, lupron shot within 10 days.. and hitrofurantoin monohydrat 100 mg.. and have a white substance.. "OCCURING" frequently. on the inside of mouth. also on Fentnyl 50 mcg, and 600 mcg Fentnyl ( actiq).. ## Have you spoken to your doctor about it? There is a reasonably good chance that the white substance in your mouth is due to a yeast infection from the antibiotic, Nitrofurantoin that you are taking. They are well known to cause them as side effects. If that is what is causing the problem, then your doctor can prescribe an antifungal oral medication to help clear it up.
Hi - has anyone else heard about the research being done on Bexarotene as a viable Alzheimer's treatment? Apparently they have been testing it in mice and it appears to quickly and effectively stop (and even reverse) degeneration in the brain tissue. They basically took mice which were genetically engineered to exhibit Alzheimer's symptoms (yeah, cruel, I know) and observed how their brains would get built up with amyloid beta peptides (which are basically thought to exist in excess as plaque in the brains of people suffering from Alzheimer's and it causes the blocking up of neurons and cell death). And of course the mice would exhibit some of the classic early signs such as forgetfulness. Anyways, Scientific American has described some of the findings: "with just a sing...
I was on this drug for seven months with Doxil for recurrent ovarian cancer. I am a 13 year survivor. After the first dose, complained of chest pain, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, skin breakouts, nose bleeds, blood clots from my nose, runny nose, aches and pains, all side effects I had read on the Internet. Had a chest x-ray, doppler to rule out PE, saw a pulmonoglist, CT scans of the chest, bronchoscopy and thoracentesis, and skin biopsy (which revealed drug reaction) all other tests negative, yet I still have all of the above problems and in addition, a perforated septum. I was finally taken off the drug and now question what lung damage I have due to this problem, as my GYN/Oncologist has never had a patient with an allergy to the drug. Am inquiring if anyone else has ha...

Updated in PaclitaxelMy husband has CTCL and is being told to take Targretin. Can anyone tell me if they have taken it and what side effects they had? Thank you ## Lois, There is an online support group of CTCL patients, many of whom are on Taragretin. They will be happy to share their experiences. Go to Association of Cancer Online Resources and look for the CTCL-MF group. ## Thank you, Judy for that very helpful post. It seems we haven't had a lot of people posting on here that have been using it. We do, however, have more information on the medication here: Can anyone post about experience using this drug?
What does Tovok do as a table and what side effect does it have? ## whats tovok for...what are the side effects ## Tovok is in Phase III clinical development for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC); it is being evaluated as a first line therapy (i.e. from diagnosis) for patients with tumour EGFR mutations, and as a third line therapy (i.e. after failure of two prior therapies) for patients whose cancer has progressed following treatment with either Iressa or Tarceva. Typical side effects associated with EGFR inhibitors like Tovok tend to include skin rash and diarrhoea, but the exact side effect profile of Tovok has not yet been established. ## I have been prescribed the drug for a painful knee.I have no other reaction but the urine gets depp red colour.Has anyo...
Found these unlabeled in garage, they're really tiny white tablets with a capital T on one side and 25 on the other. It's Canadian by the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ## Found a match! I don't think this pill was manufactured in Canada though, as my findings showed the company's location is here in the U.S. (oregon, and california). The pill imprint is identified as Tarceva (25 mg). The generic name for this is Erlotinib, and the manufacturer is Genentech. For verification purposes, the National Drug Code (NDC) for this pill is 50242-0062. Tarceva is a drug used to treat non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer and several other types of cancer. It is a reversible tyrosine kinase inhibitor, which acts on the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It...
What is the allowable payment by Medicare for a15 minute reclast infusion at an outpatient hospital center. My HMO was charged $7000 for the drug and paid 80% leaving a charge to me of 20%. My local pharmacy charges $1200 for a prescription so my question is why the vast difference in price. ## I don't have any information on what the Medicare allowable payment for it is, but I can explain the different in price from the pharmacy to the hospital. When you receive a medication at the hospital you are paying for way more than just the medication. You are paying fees for using their equipment, the time you are taking up space in their center, the salary of the person that's administering it, the IV equipment and you get the picture. It's the same reason you can buy a bottle of ...
On Oxaliplatin for four cycles still have the cold reactions and was wanting to find out how long it stays in your body? ## How long does it take to get Oxaliplatin and xeloda out of your system? ## Oxaliplatin has a short elimination half-life of about 10-25 minutes. Many pharmacists consider most or all of the drug to be out your system in the period of about 5 half-lives. In relation to this drug, that would mean Oxaliplatin takes roughly 2 hours to leave your system. Xeloda (Capecitabine) is largely eliminated as metabolites (> 95% of the dose). The terminal half-life of the parent drug and its metabolites is short (less than 1 hour), and excretion proceeds via the urine. Essentially this would mean that Xeloda should be out of your system for the most part within a 4-5 hour tim...

UpdatedI have become a monster...I was given a perscription for the patches(75mcg) about 10 months ago and 90 oxy's(15mg) for the breakthrough pain. I ask the dr. to please help me come off the patches and was told that if I came off them he would dissmiss me as a paitent. Well I came off them myself or thought I could. Now i have made a new problem for myself. I quit them and had the 90 oxy's for a back-up plan so if the withdrawals became to bad for me to withstand. You see, about 20 years ago I was a junkie but got cleaned up and have been living a good life for the past 18 years. Well, to make a long story short I started shooting the oxy's, about 10 a day, and did not have very much withdrawal from the patches. Now I have created a new problem for myself and I am so ashamed th...
