For example: we wouldn't know what true pain was or was not, if there was never any peace to accommodate it or to use as a point of reference. just thinking outside the box :) any thoughts? if not but for conversation sake. ## You are actually on the right track, the mind is very powerful and people with good control over theirs and their thought patterns have been able to use the power of their minds to overcome everything from pain to completely eradicating chronic/fatal diseases from their bodies, such as AIDs or cancer. Learn more pain details here. If you do some Google searching, you'll find many reports of these types of things, as well as research studies that have b...
I have been taking Xalkori since the end of May 2012. In the first 30 days, I had trouble keeping food down, lost 20 lbs and felt VERY sick. Praise God, I am on Zofran for the nausea and am keeping food down. I have started to feel better, much better than a few weeks ago.... But still get fatigued easy and overall feel weak. I am 50 years old. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it gets better? ## Hi Karen, After doing some research on Zofran (Ondansetron), I found that this medication does list weakness, tiredness, and shortness of breath, as common side effects. This could explain the overall weak feeling that you may be experiencing. You can view a list of side effects by following the link below: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000157/#a601209-sideEffects I hope ...
I'll be 84yrs.old in a few weeks and weigh 87lbs. Have been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Dr. had to look real hard to find it, no lump detected but advised surgery and lymph node removal and radiation. I've been looking on the web and I think I have a bigger chance of dying from other causes than breast cancer at my age and weight. I'm active (golf twice a week) and healthy now and don't think I would be after surgery. Anyone else in this situation or has been? ## Really, at your age both the surgery and cancer treatments are likely to be more rough on you than the cancer itself. To be honest, if it were me and I was 84, I'd say no and would choose to live whatever time I had left not being sick and miserable. My dad is 83, he'll be 84 in January and he ...
My husband was diagnosed with RCC in Sept. 2011. Just started on Torisel infusions and after 1st infusion he had terrible constipation, stomach pain and very tired. Took a laxative and then diarrhea. Had 2nd infusion yesterday and now has had three black stools. We are really worried. Has anyone had any experience with this? ## Torisel, which contains the active ingredient Temsirolimus has been known to cause black stools and blood in the stool. Learn more Torisel details here. The best advice I can really give here is to have him contact his doctor, he may need them to run some tests, because if he is having internal bleeding somewhere, they need to treat it as soon as possible. How is he feeling? Is he still showing signs of being tired, weak? Any more stomach pain? ## Thank you. The ...
Probably seems a bizarre question but..has anyone noticed a soft spot on their scalp after using this. ## Oddly enough, this medication does list "hair loss" as a potential side effect. I would think that this is related to what you may be describing as a 'soft spot' on the scalp. This side effect is listed here: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000547/#a682019-sideEffects Have you noticed any difference when not taking this medication?
My doc has prescribed me asidon tablets along with anibiotic. When I googled about the medicine I was shocked to know the details. But then all the articles are under Asidon 3! Can anyone kindly give me the details of this tablet? Asidon! ## Thalidomide is the generic name for this medication and after looking at all the various brands names for this drug, it appears as though "Asidon 3" is the only "Asidon" on the market. Does your prescription label show things differently? Thalidomide is used along with dexamethasone to treat multiple myeloma in people who have been recently found to have this disease. It is also used alone or with other medications to treat and prevent skin symptoms of erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL; episodes of skin sores, fever, and nerve damage th...
My mother had congested heart failure and kidney failure 2 mo ago her kidneys are fine but she has a weak heart and lost all her appetite I need to show her Dr what are the ingredients of Megestrol AC to see if she can take this.He need to make sure it does not have steroids. Can you help me ? ## Megestrol Acetate is a steroidal progestin and progesterone derivative and, due to some of the side effects it can cause, it is probably not safe for her to use, because of the congestive heart failure. One of its side effects can be fluid retention, which is what actually caused CHF. Learn more Megestrol AC details here. Has he tried anything else to stimulate her appetite?
I am currently waiting for a 3 operation to remove bladder cancer and I was wondering if Nexavar was any useful to stop bladder cancer growing and if I could take it. I hope for a quick anwer, thanks. ## Nexavar is a drug approved for the treatment of primary kidney cancer (advanced renal cell carcinoma) and advanced primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma). In my opinion, it sounds like it may be worth a shot to try it and see how it works for you over the coarse of a few weeks. This should be enough time to assess its effectiveness. In addition to this, I would also strongly suggest eating a diet comprised of mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, as in my opinion, eating alkaline foods may be the most helpful in fighting any form of cancer. Hope this helps and I wish you the best...
my husband is about to start on tomudex, has anyone had any experience of this drug please. ## It doesn't seem that there have been a lot of people posting about using it. Learn more Tomudex details here. You made your post back in March, has he started using it? If so, how is he doing? ## Sadly it was useless, and my dear husband passed away on 14th june
Is megestrol used to control hot flashes in men who have had prostate cancer radiation and harmone therapy? ## I did come across a study done on "Megestrol acetate for the prevention of hot flashes"; which you can view by following the link below: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8028614 It seems as though it would be pretty effective, as the study mentioned that hot flashes were reduced by 85% after four weeks on megestrol. The degree of efficacy was also noted to be similar in men and women. On a side note: Megestrol is a man-made version of the human hormone progesterone, and is commonly used by cancer patients, so I do believe that it is an option for those who have had prostate cancer radiation and hormone therapy. I hope this information helps to answer your question!
I have been on votrient for 7 days. I have a colostomy bag. Today a bleed a little from the rectum. Is this a common side effect. What should I do? ## Fromw hat I'm finding, Votrient has been known to cause severe intestinal bleeding in some people, which may be very dangerous. Where you informed that you should watch for such a side effect? Learn more Pazopanib information here. Have you told your doctor about it? If the bleeding gets bad, you should go to your nearest emergency room. ## I have contacted my doctor and she is not concerned at this time. There has been no more bleeding so I am continuing on the drug. Thank you so much for you information. I had not previously been informed that this is a side effect.
I have a friend who has been on vemurafenib for the past 4 months, doctors have now found new cancer growths and have therefore ended his trial. Can anyone reccommend what treatment have to go for next?! Is Chemo the best option! Any help would be much appreciated! ## I really think his Oncologist is the best qualified person to suggest further treatment options. Much of it also depends on the type of cancer being treated. What does he have?
Hi, just wondering if anyone uses Fentanly for degenerated disk diease. I can't tolerate the pain pills my doctor prescribed me. I have heard so man warnings about this drug. One doctor told me that tey are only used for people who have cancer, not a drug that is to be taken as needed. My friends husband had them, when he had cancer. The doctor also told him that the 100mg. patches he could only get from the vetrens place(sorry, don't know what it's called) Just that he has had 3 doctors tell him that, for only the 100 mg. patches ## On the regular market, such as what your doctor can prescribe and what you can get from any pharmacy, these patches are only available in two dosages, 25mcgs and 50mcgs. They are, however, used for more than just cancer patients, as many people ...
I am a 3 year breast cancer survivor taking Femara everyday. One on my side effects however is weight gain. I have gained about 30 pounds in 3 years, Can I take sensa ## Have you consulted your doctor? Sensa is listed as being a natural weight loss supplement, but that means it isn't actually proven to work, nor is it tested for interactions and safety with other medications, such as the Femara. Thus, your doctor would really be the best person to advise you in this matter.
I'm not able to see my reply post and nothing regarding doctors in the tallahasse, florida community???Will this information be in another place???or is it in a blog??? ## Our present Governor Rick Scott has created a large liability to community Florida patient, doctor, pharmacist and hospitals and many more health plan sources. there are people in pain from injuries and cancer that are responsible with pain med that allow a small piece of quality life in elderly. we only want to enjoy family and grandchildren with the short life left to live. Can you understand that? let us turn this law around on you how would you handle this if it were you.I believe you once had an problem with addiction and we all know that you stole from the elderly in nursing homes. god help us if you are voted...
I had mastectomy of my left breast on 19/11/2007 & since than taking daily 1 tab daily which had to be continued till 18/11/2012 as prescribed. After that American research centre group advice me to take nolvadex tab instead of taking arimedex. But my treating doctor knowing this, differ's opinion & continues treatment with arimidex. In the meantime i am going quite ok ,only other than body hot flashes & mild pain. Question is which medicine would have been more effective & justified ? After stoping the medicine what will be the next/future management after completion of 5 years duration of present treatment.
Updated in ArimidexMy friend has been on Zytiga for the last five weeks. Last week his blood was tested for PSA and it showed increase from 35 to 90. This has shocked us. The pain is moderate and continues to be so. Does anyone have similar experience i.e. PSA going up. Does it come down once it goes up during treatment? ## PSA levels can increase initially with Zytiga before the levels start to fall. PSA levels can be misleading since they are an indirect marker of cellular debris from the prostate cancer. As the tumour dies off the PSA levels can rise as more cellular debris enters the bloodstream. Eventually this should fall to a lower level after 3 months. If Zytiga fails to work then you should try Salvestrols which work beyond Zytiga.
What is the usual length of time before the side effects from eligard therapy start to subside? ## Because each person is different and can react or respond differently to the side effects, the length of time that they may be present can vary greatly. Unfortunately, no one (including your doctor) can really know how well you're going to respond to the drug before, during, and after treatment, since they are not you. The only thing you can do in so far as you are able to, from my perspective, would be to wait it out and manage the temporary symptoms. It's really important that you pay attention to how you're feeling and share that information with your doctor or nurse. They may have suggestions on how to manage these side effects in a way that lessens your recovery time.
folitrax is for arthiritis or any other problem ## THANKS THAT WILL HELP FOR ME BETTER ## "Methotrexate (rINN) (pronounced /mtrkset/), abbreviated MTX and formerly known as amethopterin, is an antimetabolite and antifolate drug used in treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. It acts by inhibiting the metabolism of folic acid. Methotrexate replaced the more powerful and toxic antifolate aminopterin, and the two should not be confused with each other." For more details, please see: Do you have any other questions or information to add? Please post back if you do... ## I am sufferring from body stiffness and doctors have diagnosed as ankolysing spondilysis and advised for folitrax 15 mg.
