How long does it take Xarelto to fully leave your system? ## Hello, Drew! How are you? Yes, many people have reported weight gain on Xarelto. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. How long will you be taking it? It only takes 25 to 54 hours, so not very long, once you stop it, but make sure to do so under your doctor's supervision. ## Hi Verwon....I was on a trail case study, where Bayer is testing using lower dose Xaerlto versus low aspirin or a combination of both. Started October 2015, and d...
I was hit by a car (pedestrian in the crosswalk) on 2/11/16. I developed DVT a couple of weeks later (clots in calf below knee sutures.) They did the ultrasound and a shot of Lovenox in the hospital. Discharged the next day and put on Xarelto 10 mg once a day. I just saw vascular doctor for two-week follow-up, and he ordered 10 mg once a day for 6 more weeks. I'm in pain with no relief of symptoms. He said I am not on higher dose due to bleeding risk. Just unsure of this. Thoughts? ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? I'm so sorry about the accident. If you are still recovering from injuries that cause a risk of bleeding, it is normal for the doctor to want you on a lower dose for awhile. While wanting to prevent more clots, the doctor also doesn't want to risk your bleeding out....
I been sick all day and been in pain since last night the pain meds aren't working what should I do? ## Hello, Gina! How are you feeling? Has there been any change? As listed by the NIH, these symptoms could be due to several different problems, including GERD, Flu or heart attack, so it is very important that you have them checked out by your doctor. What medications are you on? ## I'm much better thanks for asking. Still in pain but I go to the doctors tomorrow so I'll let you know what he says.
I am currently taking xarelto and xanax and I am trying to lose wait and wanted to know if it would be safe for me to take forskolin since I am taking the xarelto. ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed in the databases that I checked, however, I must add the caveat that natural supplements, such as Forskolin, are not actually studied for possible problems or interactions, so the safest thing to do would be to check with your doctor, before taking it, to be safe. The FDA warns that Xanax carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?
Hi. I was advised to take Clopilet 75 by one of the doctors when I had a mild chest discomfort. I was later told to stop it after taking it for nearly 4 months as it was causing hyperacidity and TMT was negative. Please let me know if it is good advice to stop taking it. If stopped, what are the chances of having any heart problems? So far I don't have any heart problems. Thanks. ## I'll explain a little, so maybe I can help you understand the associated risks of stopping a medication like this abruptly. Clopilet contains the active ingredient Clopidogrel, which is used to prevent blood clotting. If you take it for several months and stop it abruptly, there is a chance that it could cause a rebound effect, which means that it could cause your blood to clot too much, which may le...
I seem to be doing fine with the xarelto, but my arthritis is killing me without my prescription pain reliever, Arthrotec. Does anyone take arthrotec with Xarelto? If not, what pain killer can I take? I tried an opiod and it made me foggy and unsteady on my feet. I am sensitive to meds and arthrotec really helped me, which is why I miss it so much. ## Hi Judy, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there ARE interactions listed between Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) and Arthrotec (Diclofenac sodium). The interaction goes on to state that taking these two drugs together may increase your risk of bleeding. Furthermore, they recommend contacting your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of the following side effects, such as long lasting nose bleeds, dark or bloody vomit, ...
I have been on clopidogrel for 8 years after insertion of a stent. During this period I suffered the most painful cramping in my feet, legs and arms when performing moderate exercise. I recently visited my heart specialist who suggested that I may no longer need to take clopidogrel as a recent angiogram showed no significant blockages in my heart. I ceased taking clopidogrel and no longer suffer any cramping. The suffering I have endured for 8 years while on clopidogrel should be a warning to others. If I had been able to exercise without cramping it may well have been as beneficial as taking this drug. ## Hello, Bill! How are you doing? Wow! That's terrible, I'm glad you finally figured out what was causing it. Muscle aches and stiffness are known side effects, as listed by the...
I am training really hard, but I don't get sore after. Could this be because of the xeralto. Thank you ## Hello, Ange! How are you? I doubt it, Xeralto is actually reported by the FDA as causing aches and pains as side effects in some people that take it. As to your training, are you usually doing the same things at the same intensity? Because, if so, then it is normal for your body to get used to it and stop getting so sore and achy.
My mom is experiencing severe knee pain since taking Eliquis. She and doctor have taken her off the medication. How long will it take before she begins to feel relief since discontinuing the drug? ## Hello, Kath1234! How is your mom feeling? How long was she taking it? Depending on the length of time and dosage, it may take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks, before it eases off and she starts to feel better. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. ## Thank you for the information! She is still hurting. I will let her know about how long it can take. It is scary for her. A chance of a Blood Clot or not being able to walk. ## My mom is doing 100% better since going off Eliquis. It obv...

I was put on xerelto 3 months ago after hip surgery and got a dvt..Dr took blood work last week and a doppler ultrasound and found no markers or signs of blood clot in my calf. I have been taken off 2 days ago but no dr will tell me how long to wait to shave or continue advil..I also can not find any information on it..Please help.Thank you ## There is actually no need to refrain entirely from shaving, when taking Xaretlo, you just need to be very, very cautious as even a small nick could bleed severely. Thus, unless your doctor says otherwise, you should be fine if you just proceed with caution. As to the Advil, only your doctor can inform you as to how long you should wait. The FDA classifies it as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and lists its typical side effects as possibly includi...
Been taking xarelto for 8 months after PE. Has anyone stopped after treatment? Risk of stroke scares me. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Yes, there have been several people that have posted about stopping it, but with their doctor's approval and supervision. Along with the risk of stroke from stopping on your own, you also risk heart attack and other blood clots, as reported by the FDA. How much longer will you be taking it?
My husband started Xarelo Dec 21. He is having a lot of hip/leg/knee pain, and we've been told the drug is breaking down the DVT clots and setting up inflammation in his body as a reaction. He is taking hydrocodone around the clock for this pain. What to do? How long will this last? Are others dealing with this? ## Hello, Jan! How is your husband doing? Yes, pain in various joints and muscles can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. Side effects are usually transient and improve, once someone's body gets used to a medication, but that can take 4 to 5 weeks. ## He's been on the drug since Dec. 21, so 20 days out, he's getting a little better. He just went on the one-a-day dose of...
on eliquis 2.5mg twice daily Feet swell. Pamphlet reads possible side effect. I keep feet highly elevated when sitting. Want to avoid taking diuretic. No high blood pressure, not over weight. Who has experienced this & what have you done. I am considering compression stockings. I have frequent urination, that is not a problem. In the past my feet would swell when siting at the p.c. for a lengthy period of time before I was on any meds. My next dr. appt. coming up in 2 weeks. Appreciate any feedback ## Hello, Jackie! How are you doing? How did your doctor's appointment go? Yes, just as you've read, the FDA says that can be a side effect of this medication, along with nausea, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. You may need to take a diuretic or switch to a...
Was on coumodin since Oct 2015. Personal doctor switched me from coumodin to Xeralto three weeks ago. Since then, I have had to go to ER two times to have my left knee drained. Am away from residence for two months so I have been seeing the orthopedist who is treating me. Had sonogram and MRI done last week. No clots or tears in the knee. Has anyone else experienced this problem? ## Hello, Lynda! How are you? As reported by the FDA, this medication has been known to cause peripheral edema, though it isn't common for it to just be in one area, usually it would be both legs. Other side effects may include headache, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications? ## I take Vitron for anemia and Zantac to prevent stomach bleeding because of the...
Is anyone still suffering regular chest pain 10 months on from a pulmonary embolism? Mine was a very large unprovoked saddle PE. I am on xarelto 20mg. Can lungs be permanently damaged from a PE? ## Your lungs can be permanently damaged, but a cat scan would be able to give you the answer I too had to blood clots one on each lung and some how escaped completely un harmed I'm currently on warfain for the past 4yrs and have had no problems what so ever from the looks of all these posts I think I will keep it that way. ## I had a severe saddle PE in July of 2008 and had chest pain for about 18 months after. My docs all thought it was chostochondritis and looking back I do believe that was what it was. The pain can be caused from the minute movements the clot caused on your cartilage in ...

Hi. Im scared might be pregnant on xarelto, ive been on it now for 4.5mnths now and finish it middle september. I will be testing in a few days to see if i am pregnant or not. What are the side effects if i am pregnant and will it harm the baby and me? ## What did your test show? It is advised that this medication not be used during pregnancy, it can cause some complications for both the mother and baby, which could put their lives at risk. Anyone taking it who becomes pregnant is advised to see their doctor immediately to switch to a safer medication, as advised by the FDA. ## I'm wondering your outcome as Iam 5weeks pregnant and was also on xarelto for the 5 weeks have stoped now and taking aspro instead ## Did anyone have anything or response to this as my wife has found she is p...
IS IT SAFE TO TAKE BENEDRYL WHILE ON XARELTO ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check to be sure. Only your doctor can tell you what is safe for you to try. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Benadryl may cause drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?
Hi, I've recently had to go on Warfarin again after getting a 2nd DVT and P.E. I recently saw a troubling note next to a coffee substitute site that said to be careful with roasted Barley products as high doses of OPCs can cause potential bleeding issues. I found out that OPCs are found in a lot of things that we all love, such as Barley, Almonds, Dates, Etc.. Does anybody know of a web site that list all the items that contain OPCs and if they are hi or low with the amount.
