I am 64 yr old female with HTN. ACE inhibitors caused severe muscle weakness, can't take Calcium Channel Blockers d/t GERD, so MD finally tried ARBs: Losartan Potassium caused paresthesia and PVCs (symptoms vanished right after drug dc'd). Then Rx'd HCTZ alone with good efficacy but d/t elevated readings in MD office, was changed to Micardis and HCTZ. Paresthesia returned. Micardis stopped, (back to HCTZ only), but paresthesia continues even after off Micardis x 6 weeks. How long can it take for paresthesia to stop? ## After 6 weeks it should have started to improve, already, unless some permanent nerve damage has been done, or if it's also being affected by the HCTZ, since it can also cause it as a side effect. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly includin...

Can you please post back and clarify as to what you mean by saying it does not work as well as you want it to? Wanted a generic for Diovan because the cost became prohibitive. Have not started the Losartan yet. What are the differences in these 2 pills, if any. ## Both drugs are in the same class of medication. They are both ARB's (angiotensen II receptor blockers.) They just have slightly different chemical structures. A dose of Losartan 25mg is approximately equivalent to Diovan 40mg as far as dosing goes. It should work as well as Diovan in lowering your blood pressure. If it does not, Avapro (another ARB) is also available generically. ## I'm taking Diovan 160MG and Losartan 100mg together. My blood pressure is high. Is it because I'm taking both of these meds daily?
