Hello - I take Atenolol 50 mgms and have been prescribed Lercanidipine 20 mgms since January 2017, as my BP was high. It has stabilised well -current BP 118/62 this morning. However my ankles in the last week have been really oedematous and wonder whether the Lercanidipine is the cause of it? I use a wedge in bed to elevate legs above heart at nighttime. The warmer weather has made them worse. I also feel really tired all the time. Good evening. I am a hair dresser and I have a client who's hair is growing in so thick. The only medication she is on is Losartan. She started taking the medication 1 year ago. You can absolutely see the difference. All I keep reading is this med can cause hair loss. I also know there are some blood pressure meds that can help regrow hair. I'm very curious if anyone can put some light on my question. I started taking this med 8 days ago...and well in a nutshell i feel horrible! Hand and feet swelling, dizzy, stomach pain..always sore and tired...this was prescribed for raynaud (severe) syndrome..it hasnt helped that...my blood pressure and heart are fine with taking metoprolol and has been fine for over 10 years...my high blood pressure is caused by kidney damage caused by scleroderma and lupus..my question is, can i stop taking it....NOW and w/o tapering...also i was just prescribed nitroglycerin creme to apply to fingers and that seems to work..hard to tell till i stop the amlodipine..thoughts? I had a heart attack last Thanksgiving. I was put on Met and I became sick not being able to keep anything down. I was then admitted to the Hospital to run test. This was one week after the heart attack. They took me off all meds and guess what, I felt great. Sent home back on meds and same thing. Back to hospital More test and nothing could be found. You where dehydrated, and take Promethazine 25mg to settle your stomach down. My wife and I was yelling BS. Now they lowered the dose and removed 2 heart meds. Guess what, I was sick again same thing. It has been a year now and things started to turn for the worse. Ran blood test and showed that I had low Chortisol and Acth Levels where exteremly low. I am a counselor at a ministry for addiction and need to know if clonidine will test positive for Benzo's. ## Clonidine is not a benzo. It is a blood pressure medication and off label can also help with anxiety and insomnia. This med is often confused with klonopin because of the similar sound of the 2 words and for the fact that is can be used to treat anxiety. But the chemicals in clonidine are completely different then the chemicals in benzodiazepines , so I couldn't see any reason at all it could test positive for a benzo . I am taking Metroprolol (minax 50) half a tablet twice a day and have been on them since having a stent in July 13.
