Does this medicine cause constipation my Dr has prescribed laxative. Is it safe? ## From what I can find, this contains Metooprolol and Amlodipine, it is used to help control blood pressure. And yes, it can cause constipation for some people and some doctors will give laxatives or stool softeners for a certain period of time for people that are new on the drug, to prevent it. i am taking lisinoril 10mg qd can i be taken off lisinopril and put on diovan160/10 OR Norvasc 10 mg? ## Well, it really depends on your medical history, any other conditions you are under treatment for and any other medications you are on. All 3 of the medications you mentioned are in different classes, so they work in different ways to help lower blood pressure or prevent heart failure. I'm taking Metoprolol (50mg) daily. I've experienced a noticeable measure of ED. I wasn't aware of this side effect when I started taking it. Is there another Beta blocker equally effective that does not cause any degree of ED? ## I am afraid that this can be a potential side effect of almost all blood pressure medications, so there is no way to tell you that any one will not cause any degree of ED. I recently had trouble with Metoprolol myself and my doctor recommended I switch to Carvedilol, it seems to cause less side effects and problems for people that have had trouble with Metoprolol. It is also more powerful, so you usually require half the dose of it, that you did of the Metoprolol. More information: Have you tried asking your doctor about alternatives?

any one with data on safe use while pegnant ## At 41years old, I took Methyldopa to control my blood pressure through my pregnancy. My son was born healthy with no complications. But, my primary doctor kept me on the methyldopa after I stopped breastfeeding and I had multiple adverse side effects. My advise is to switch to a different blood pressure medicine ASAP after the birth of your child if it is still necessary.

I have been on Lisinopril for 6 months. I told my doctor I am allergic as I broke out in a serious rash. A dermotologist gave me Bethamensone to put on rash and I broke out in a chronic rash. A new dermotologist gave me Cephelexin and Muroprocin (both ate me alive). I then was placed on Prednisone (30 pills). I feel better but notice that I still have spots of rashes here and there. I'm looking for a new HBP medicine. I was suggested Benicar. Any help? ## After being on Lisinopril for 4 months I had enough. The coughing and sharp pain in my head no more.
