I am 65 years old and hypertensive for last 30/35 years. I am under medication for long and presently taking Listril-SM tab and Stamlo 5, one each in the morning and Tenoric 50 one tablet at night. Recently one Cardiologist advised me to take one tab. Telma-AM-H 80 in the morning replacing the other medicines and also to replace Colsprin 100 with Ecosprin Gold 20. The problem is I tried Telma 40 and subsequently Telma-H a couple of years ago as per advise of a Cardilogist but it failed to maintain my blood pressure. On the contrary it shoots upto 190/100. The pressure becomes 140/80 after switching back to Listril-SM with addition of Stamlo 5. While Lisonopril seems to be suiting me why Cardilogists insisting on Telsartan ? Is this a better medicine or avoid using Tenoric ? ## I am 60 a...

i can,t get to my doctors for my amovasc tablets until december2011 end, i will run out of my prescribed amlovasc tablets by november 5th 2011, what alternatives are avialable, i,m in dubai uae, or what happens to me if i CAN,T get any type of drug as in taking none.... will i die? ## There are many natural alternatives for Blood Pressure control that in my opinion can be just as effective as prescription medication if taken seriously. I personally had high blood pressure for a number of years, but was able to control it by controlling my eating habits and exercising. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to look into natural ways such as: Low/no sodium foods to help reduce inflammation and water retention; supplementation of garlic, as well as calcium, m...

i found this in pieces in daughters room NOT a heart pill ## I'm sorry, but the only tablet that turns up under this imprint in the U.S. databases is 12.5mgs Carvedilol, which is used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions. Did you try asking your daughter what it is, or where it came from?

I was taking Atenlol 50 mg twice before CAPB surgerry Now Dr.priscribed Betaloc 25 mg perday Are the two are different or the same by action in controlling BP? ## Betaloc contains the active ingredient Metoprolol and both it and Atenolol are beta blockers that work in the same manner to help control high blood pressure and cardiac conditions. Learn more: Have you asked your doctor why they changed the medications?

I want to know what some small, light-blue, diamond-shaped tablets, with marking 4 / 6 on one side and E on the other. Thanks. ## I have hypertension. Could the tablet be Cozaar or Losartan?? ## What you are describing does in fact sound like Losartan 50 mg, manufactured by Aurobindo. To me, the tablet looks a little greenish, but it does have E on one side, and 46 on the other. You can see an image here. I hope this helps! ## Thank you very much, Roy. Guarina

i have been on Telma H and Amlo Denk for more than a year and i experience the following: headaches excrutiating pain on my anle joint every morning or walking after sitting for a long time excrutiating back pain every morning high frequency of urinating in the evening feeling tired ## Telma-H contains Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, the Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic and removes fluid from the body, this would explain the frequent urinating. When do you take this? If you're taking it at night, you should speak to your doctor about taking it in the morning, so you aren't having to get up to urinate so much at night. Otherwise, it may just be too high of a dosage for you and it may need to be lowered. Amlo Denk contains the active ingredient Amlodipine and it may be causi...

I am taking Antel 40 tablet for lowering blood pressure. The doctor has prescribed Lipikind 10 also for reducing cholesterol. Can I take them together? Are there any side effects or any interactions? ## I just started taking Lipikind-10 yesterday and I've been experiencing headaches since then. Can this be due to the medication? ## C.K. the Antel contains Telmisartan and the Lipikind contains Atorvastatin and I didn't find any interactions listed between the two, but you should check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. And Raman, yes, the Atorvastatin can cause headaches, as a side effect. Have you consulted your doctor?

I have been prescribed 25MG of Metoprolol Tart 2X a day for a few years now, don't know exactly when I started, but at first I thought I was somewhat tired, but recently I am very tired and have no mental focus, I even had a co-worker say that I look tired and just this morning my hairdresser said the same. I have been trying to eat a better diet and taking more vitamins, but I am even more tired. Maybe I am finally feeling the side affects and my body is saying no to this medication? I experimented recently with supplements to get my BP down and I found taking magnesium really helped. I would like to get off this medication! ## Have you consulted your doctor and what have your BP levels been? The tiredness could be from the medication, or it could be due to several other reasons, s...

I am on 10 mg of Amlodipine Besylate. The pill is usually white in color. I pick up my perscription yesterday, open the bottle and the color was blue, one side had A10 and the other side had a M on it. Is the the right medication. Thanks ## Yes, this tablet also contains 10mgs of Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions, it is just made by a different manufacturer, than the one you were previously receiving. Pharmacies will often switch which company they order from, whenever they have to restock their supply, according to who is offering the cheapest price. This enables them to offer these generic medications to you, as cheaply as possible. Are there any other questions? ## Ithe was takeingamlodipinine besylate 10mg tmyl a roundblue...

my doctor told me to take 10mg zanidip every second day he thinks 5mg are not avalible in ireland i need to take 5mg a day ## Zanidip contains the active ingredient Lercanidipine and, from what I've found, it's listed as only being available in 10 and 20mg tablets. However, as long as it isn't time released, it should be okay to cut them in half. Or is there some reason your doctor doesn't want you to do so?

I recieved a refill for my losartan-hctz 100-25. The pill color changed. It's white, circle on the pill, and its says sz 390. ## The tablet with the SZ 390 marking contains the same medication in the same dosages. What you need to know is that this is a generic medication, the name brand would be Hyzaar, so it is manufactured by several different companies. Are there any other questions or comments?

How is this pill different from the Lotrel purple with white stripes, same dosage pill? ## Hi Morgan, The primary differences between these two pills are within the "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand. Certain inactive ingredients are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may agree with one medication over the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves. When you switch brand names for example, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. The Inactive Ingredients found in RDY 341 are: silicon dioxide colloidal crospovidone lactose monohydrate magnesium stearate microcrystalline cellulose ...

Is Tarka an anticoagulant? I am getting a knee surgery on March 20th and I am supposed not to take any anticoagulant two weeks before March 20th. Should I stop my high blood pressure medicine for those two weeks? Please advise. ## Goodness no! Please consult your doctor. Tarka contains Trandolapril and Verapamil and while they do have some effect on circulation, they are not blood thinners. In addition, if your blood pressure is out of control, they will not perform the surgery. Did you talk to your doctor?

what is the difference between metoprolor succ and metoprolor er? ## If it's just listed as Metoprolol succinate, without another designation such as the ER, SR, XR, or etc. then it is just a regular release formulation. The ER and other abbreviations that I mentioned designate that one as being a time released formulation to help better control high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. What have they advised you to do? If it's due to high blood pressure, then the only solution will be to do what's necessary to get that under control.

I am asking this question for my mom...she has been on IC metoprol Tartrate for a month...now her doc put her on IC Lisinopril...she has always been healthy and now feels terrible...can she just stop taking these pills since she hasnt been on them very long? thankyou ## Has she consulted her doctor? Even though she's only been taking them for a short time, there could still be some dangerous rebound effects, such as elevated blood pressure and heart rate. Her doctor, however, will be able to help her switch to something else that may not cause her as many problems, in a safe manner. ## She hasn't consulted her doctor yet...She wants to take a more natural route.
