When you stop one of these abruptly and switch to another one, even one that's still in the same class, as was done here, there can be redound effects to your blood pressure, making it climb higher, so your doctor may have increased the dosage slightly to try to help control this. These are both ACE Inhibitors, so the side effects should be similar and may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and dr...

I am a 39 year old man and my BP was always 160/100 + but later my doctor said to take Telmikind AM instead of Amcard 5. I also added a new tablet to my daily chart, Trika 0.25 tablet. Now my BP is 119/20 in normal condition, but now I only take these tablets when I need them, otherwise when I feel better I will not take any tablet. I also think the Trika 0.25 helps me cure me blood pressure because this is the medicine of hyper tension and hyper tension is the major cause of my BP. Thank you. ## Actually, using a blood pressure/cardiac medication in such a manner is very dangerous, you should be taking it all the time regularly. Taking it for awhile, as needed, then stopping creates the risk of it causing rebound effects, which could cause severely elevated blood pressure and heart rat...

What is the difference between Verapamil Er 240 MG & Verapamil HCL ER Tab. ## Hi Gloria, From what I could gather, "HCL" is the chemically abbreviated form of Hydrochloride. It is basically the way that the medications are put into solid form. Many liquid or oral suspension formulas contain HBr, hydrobromide. Some medications also contain Fumarate or Maleate, all of which are mediums to put the substances into or dilute them. Since HCL is water soluble, the Verapamil that does contain HCL may be more easily absorbed into your system than the one that does not contain any HCL. This is just my theory as I haven't done a lot of research on the topic, but the bit of info I did find suggests it to be so. I hope this helps!

I was switched from toprol XL 25 mg once a day to lopressor 25 mg 2x aday. I had a heart attack and stent a couple of years ago. I'm on aspirin, bisoprolol, atorvastatin and ramipril. I also take levothyroxine each morning. I have been feeling very tired and my blood pressure is very low, typically about 100 (or less) over 50 ish. With my drs agreement my dose of ramipril has been reduced to 5mg per day from 10mg. I take one in the morning and one at night. My blood pressure has increased slightly and seem steadier (although I had a reading of 98 over 47 yesterday) and I'm probably not as tired, although its hard to tell. My question concerns whether it is better to have the higher dose for prevention and put up with low blood pressure, or to have the lower dose and be at more risk! I don't know what is best and my dr seems to be leaving that decis...

What do you feel is the difference between the two products?
I take 2 bld press meds.....5 mgs amlodopine between 8&9 A.M.....controls well no side effects...then in evening take Benicar 20 Mgs...at 8 P.M..I am unsure if they. protect me all night....how long before they become effective and for how long do these 2 drugs stay in my system ... ## I understand your concern and as a fellow hypertension patient, I can help you with this. As to being protected at night, you really don't need to worry about it. If you are going to be at night, then your blood pressure and heart rate naturally fall in the evening and they dip even further, when you go to sleep. That is why most doctors prescribe blood pressure medications to be taken in the morning, because that is the time of day when you are the most active and will experience the most fluctua...
