Amlodipine When Is Best Time To Take 2 Different Bld Press Meds?

I take 2 bld press meds.....5 mgs amlodopine between 8&9 A.M.....controls well no side effects...then in evening take Benicar 20 Mgs...at 8 P.M..I am unsure if they. protect me all night....how long before they become effective and for how long do these 2 drugs stay in my system ...

As to being protected at night, you really don't need to worry about it. If you are going to be at night, then your blood pressure and heart rate naturally fall in the evening and they dip even further, when you go to sleep.

That is why most doctors prescribe blood pressure medications to be taken in the morning, because that is the time of day when you are the most active and will experience the most fluctuations, as well as encounter the things that can cause elevations, such as caffeine and stress.

So, unless you're checking it when you wake up and finding that it is too high, there's no need to worry about it.
